King of Tattooists: The Life and Work of George Burchett

Rate this book
Signed by the author, Jon Reiter! For tattoo historians, the words "Waterloo Road" mean only one thing, and that is George Burchett. Born in Victorian England, Burchett was a gifted tattoo artist and advocate of tattooing for most of his long life. Sailors, soldiers, carnival performers, and kings were tattooed by Burchett, whose career spanned the turbulent years between the reign of Queen Victoria to the ascendancy of Queen Elizabeth. His distinctive talents, combined with his enthusiastic interest in the cultural history of his profession, helped propel tattooing through the 20th century to where it is today.

Another good read of an old-school tattooer. Beautiful, too. But again there are issues with the subediting.
