A second-chance romance in the gorgeous blue waters of the Bahamas.
Losing her had been the equivalent of drowning. No oxygen, no air, no breath.
Dr. Missy Rembert interned at Shark Lab in the Bimini Islands when she was a graduate student, and although she decided to change her field of study from sharks to cephalopods, one thing marked her time there—a fling with Josh McKittrick. Now she’s back in the Bahamas as part of a team exploring a blue hole, and she’s stunned to come face-to-face with the only man she’s ever regretted losing.
Dr. Josh McKittrick never thought he’d see Missy again. After their brief relationship at Shark Lab went south, he was forced to put her out of his mind and work became his haven. He knew she’d switched her research focus, so he was certain they’d never cross paths. He should’ve known better, because seeing her now is bringing back all the old feelings. Missy was the only woman who had broken his heart, and he’ll be damned if he goes through it a second time.
Don’t miss an exclusive bonus story – Deep Blue Hawai’i – featuring Grace and Alec from the novel DEEP BLUE.
Dr. Grace Mann and her boyfriend, underwater filmmaker Alec Galloway, are in the Aloha State for a Galloway family Christmas. While surfing Pipe is on the agenda for the boys, Grace finds a way to get in the water with tiger sharks, but can Alec convince her to stay on dry land long enough for an important question?

Absolutely loved this novella in the Pathway Series! This story follows Missy and Josh as they find their way back to each other after years apart. The pair unexpectedly meet again when they go to the Bahamas to explore a blue hole. I love how this book goes back and forth from the past to the present as the story unfolds. If you're an ocean lover who likes a good romance, this book is for you
Love this series. I can't wait to read what happens next. If you haven't read any of the other books in the series you don't want to miss the story it is best to read them in order .
Ok so where have I been?! This is book 7 in the series. SEVEN! And I loved it! And we all know I hate jumping into a series in the middle - and now I have six books I need to read!
This centers around some marine biology nerdy people - LOL! That is not a cast of characters I ever expect to find in a book, but it was unique and refreshing. I loved the setting - an island in the Bahamas that I have literally never heard of! This book is a romance but it’s also an adventure - I mean they dive into a blue hole (I’ve never heard of such a thing either) to study microbial species. Let’s just say my wannabe scientist nerd self was having a blast reading this! (I’m really not great at chemistry which is why I’m a Juris Doctor and not a Medical Doctor)
If you like some adventure and fun in the sun with your romance - do yourself a favor - start this series from book one and go all in!
This was my second book by Kristy McCaffrey and I really liked it! I can't wait to dive into more of her books! And this series. I loved that the romance in the book was not sappy or over done. It seemed very authentic and honest! In a way I did see the twist coming but it did not detour from the love story. Sapphire Waves a second chance romance revolves around the main character Josh and Missy that come about in the gorgeous blue waters of the Bahamas which are portrayed sensationally. Initially when they came across each other didn't really go well in their favour. Their relationship was so fun and entertaining to watch develop. It was extremely sweet and it definitely left me with a big smile on my face when I finished. I went into this book thinking it would be a really light romantic read. But it was so much more than that. I felt like this book just focused on the found friendship between the characters and so much more. That's also where I found myself more invested in, compared to the romance. I loved each character in the group right from the beginning. It's also about people changing and growing up their lives and where they are at that stage in life. It's scary because they at times can feel each other drifting apart. And then also finding happiness. It seems like such a simple thing, yet so many people struggle to have it, which the characters wrestle with too. As for the characters, I loved all the side characters. The main characters were good and interesting enough. The author's writing is beautiful, raw, absorbing and moving. Highly recommended to everyone! You will not regret investing your time on this.l could go on and on, yet I shall never run out of praise for this one.
Missy and Josh are on a sightseeing trip in the Bahamas for the blue hole , when they re-discover each other . A lovely second chance romance ideal for the beach. I read an advance copy and my review is my own words and voluntary
I have read every book in this series and I enjoyed this novella just as much as I did all her others. It had the perfect amount of second chance romance combined with suspense and drama. I had a hard time putting it down. It also includes a short story that intertwines the characters from all of her previous books in the series and allows you to catch up where they are now. Loved it! Don't worry if you haven't read any of the others , the author has a magical way of filling you in so you are not confused. It will have you wanting to read their entire story. 😉
I enjoyed the depth of the characters and seeing them grow. The descriptions of the underwater world were so great, I felt myself wanting to surface!! Great book.
If you're looking for a quick, easy read that's enjoyable, this book fits the bill. It's fun, gets to the point, and can easily be read in a day. Whether you need a good beach read, or something light and entertaining, this book has you covered.
Missy from the first Pathways Series book gets her story! I loved Grace and Missy’s friendship in the first novel, so I was excited about this one. Missy and Josh are both in the Bahamas for a research expedition into the Blue Hole and get a second chance at love. I have enjoyed this series a lot and love seeing all the additional novellas. The characters feel so real to me and go through things similar to us regular people, unlike in a lot of other romance books. It also felt well-researched. I now would like to take a trip to the Bahamas to see one of these Blue Holes. Overall, great read, especially if you are looking to devour something in one night. Don’t forget to read the other books in this series (they don’t have to be in order), they are all just amazing and stuck you into the story.
I really enjoyed Josh and Missy's story. They meet while serving an internship at the same place and have a strong connection from the beginning. Her father does and things change. The meet again on a work project and still have this connection. This is a great second chance romance book that captivated me from the beginning. I also enjoyed the short story at the end that gives a catch-up with Grace and Alec.
Sapphire Waves is a wonderful addition to the Pathway series, giving Missy a second chance for love with Josh who she walked away from during a difficult time in her life. When these two met up again after years of separation, I could almost feel the pain they'd both tried to bury. This short and sweet romance made me believe that second chances aren't only possible, but sometimes they're destiny! A very enjoyable read!
Josh and Missy meet during an internship, Missy's father dies and she leaves the internship. Years later during a job she sees Josh. Is there still something there?
I love second-chance romance and this definitely was a good one! From the first re-meet you could tell they both still had feelings for each other but were scared to get their hearts broken again. This was an easy read, short and sweet. I haven't read the other books in this series, but now I will.
I enjoyed Kristy McCaffrey's newest book. I was happy seeing Grace and Alex meeting again after a long separation, each hoping for a second chance at love. An entertaining short novel. Recommend. JudyE
This short and easy read is a great read for a rainy afternoon! This novella is a entertaining read that will have you giggling. I can not wait to read the rest of the series.
The Pathway Series are written where each book will read well as a stand-alone. There will be people from previous stories, but they intermingle and work well within the story. This is a second-chance romance for Dr. Missy Rembert and Dr. Josh McKittrick.
I will admit this was the first book in the series for me to read, but never confusing. I liked how the author, Ms. Kristy McCaffrey tells enough about people, relationships, angst, and issues, without having to retell stories. I never felt lost or confused.
In this spicy-sweet second-chance romance, you can’t help but want to see Missy and Josh find resolution and romance. They had a romance four years ago, and then the death of Missy’s father took her back home—no time for goodbyes—and later lots of regrets. Too much time has passed, but could they have a second chance?
The story’s plot will have Missy invited to assist on a research dive at Shark Lab in the Bimini Islands. Neither Missy nor Josh will know the other is part of this research team, and it comes with mixed emotions seeing each other again. But it doesn’t take long for them to reconnect as friends, and yes, work partners. The story will move back and forth between past and present, but it moves smoothly and helps the reader with the characters.
I loved the story, the angst, the past and present, and especially for Missy and Josh to reconnect and discover the chemistry between them is still present. They take it slow, especially since they are there to work, and allow things to progress naturally. I loved the way the author paints the visual for the dive scenes. Yes, the story has the good, the bad, and the users, but in the end, love wins.
Thank you to the author for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

TROPES 🦈 Second Chance Romance
Sapphire Waves follows Misty and Josh, two scientists that initially met at Shark Lab until the sudden death of Misty’s father ended things between them prematurely. Now they are on a research project together and seeing each other for the first time in years.
This was a fun and quick summer read. As a novella, it is easy to get through, and is there really a better time to read about people falling in love at a place called Shark Lab, spending their days on boats and beaches? With part of my degree being in marine science, it was fun to immerse myself in what that career could look like while watching sparks fly.
I do wish the pacing had been more thought out, as it felt like we spent a lot of time in acts 1 and 2 with a very short act 3, and we didn’t get to enjoy the payoff. Maybe they will get their own full book one day, though it seems unlikely based on where the novella left things.
Such an easy enjoyable read! It’s short and to the point without losing the story. Would be a great beach read because you can finish it within a day. Missy and Josh have a cute relationship. Closed doorish sex not explicit. This is book 7. I didn’t read any others before it and it read just fine. Characters from other books intersect together. I will probably read the others in the series.
