"Sleek, sharp, and surgically precise, VOODOOTOWN is a new serialized horror novel that moves like greased lightning. The self-contained interlocking chapters go from a whisper to a scream with the panache of Anne Rice on acid. I could not stop gobbling these bad-ass little bon-bons... highly recommended!"
- Jay Bonansinga, New York Times bestselling co-author of THE WALKING DEAD: THE ROAD TO WOODBURY

“If you don't pick up this book ASAP, you're missing a terrific bet." --No. 1 Kindle bestselling author Shane Gericke, TORN APART

“In short, I wanted more. Did I mention these dolls kick all kinds of a##?” --Jason Hefter, author, HUMP DAY

Under your bed, hidden in your walls, they come out when you sleep to defend you. They fight the battles you can't, make friends you thought you'd never have, and make your life better in ways you'll never know. But they aren't safe any more. And without them, none of us are safe either.

Editorial Reviews--
“I read "Schooled" having little previous knowledge of what it was about and limited exposure to Voodootown, but I was quickly transported to a cool new world where dolls are badasses and us humans owe them a huge debt of gratitude. I found myself quickly invested in the characters and engaged in the mythology, magic and action. In short, I wanted more. Did I mention these dolls kick all kinds of ass? Looking forward to Twister and Janey's next adventure and finding out more about Voodootown's creative cast of characters!” ---Jason Hefter, author, “Hump Day”

When we're young, we often worry about the monster under the bed. The creature watching from the closet. The things that go bump in the night.

"Voodootown turns this convention on its ear: the voodoo doll living under everyone's bed is not only their protector, but their advocate with the other dolls. Meet Twister, a doll with a conscience, as she stands up for her human against the dolls of those who would bring her down. The story of Voodootown starts a bit on the dark side, and I've been promised it only gets darker from here.
Enjoy Schooled, the first installment of Voodootown. And try not to look under your bed when you're done."

Darin Kennedy, author, “Pawn's Gambit”

"Intriguing and exciting as hell! Bruce Elgin has been there, done that, and knows how to turn a phrase. If you don't pick up this book ASAP, you're missing a terrific bet."

--No. 1 Kindle bestselling author Shane Gericke, TORN APART

"I still remember the slings and arrows of my teen years. If only I'd had a secret companion who knew a little something about push pins and stuffing. This engaging, story-rich introduction to Voodoo Town has me hoping it will be my new fix for the kind of teen-centered novels we've all indulged in. This time, no vampires. It's better than that, it's a whole new world of occult fun with a painfully human touch."

This is an amazing beginning to the Voodootown saga. I love the idea that there is a little doll under my bed fighting my battles down in Voodootown when i'm asleep. They make all the wrongs of the day right again. Twister is the bastian of a cool tough chick and she helps her human, Janey overcome a dark shyness. I wonder what my doll is like.

I originally read Voodootown on the site Wattpad a little over a year ago, where the volumes were offered as a single novel (something I would love to have a physical copy of, if the day should ever come).

Remembering it fondly, I thought now would be a good time for a re-read of the series. I'm not disappointed. The first volume is as intriguing as it was the first time around, only now with the added benefit of knowing where the characters and story are going. The writing is neither too simplistic nor too complex, and flows in a way that keeps the reader engaged.

The premise behind the story--each human being having a living Voodoo doll, unbeknownst to them, who comes alive at night, influences their decisions, and defends their honour from other dolls and their humans--is such an incredible, original concept. And of course, the dolls themselves are absolutely fascinating, with an antagonist to match--but as said antagonist doesn't arrive in this installment, I'll just have to get to them, later. ;)

In sum, this is a fun little read, with a very engaging storyline, and one I don't doubt I'll go onto read a third time.

This suspenseful YA serial has a fascinating premise. Each human has a voodoo doll that comes out a night to defend their honor (to beat the crap out the doll whose human wronged their human). Ah, the cycle of vengeance.

Interestingly, this serial is based on a game called Voodootown, but you don't have to know the game to enjoy the serial. In fact, I don't do e games, but I can't wait to read more.
