Sitting in the bookstore one afternoon, Arthur Trezeguet receives a a restraining order from his spiteful girlfriend, Sarah. Eager to better himself, he soon falls for Susan, the elegant wife of a high-society businessman, who spends her evenings downing scotch-and-sodas and lamenting her passionless life. As their mutual attraction blossoms they plan to skip town and run away together. But there are problems. Arthur's new girlfriend, Julia, is pregnant.
