I picked this up because I heard an interview with these guys on a podcast. Books, Beer and Bullshit. http://booksbeerbullshit.podbean.com/ They seemed like cool guys and I like zombie stories, it was only $2.99 so I downloaded it.

First story was pretty good, made me chuckle so I kept on reading. The second story started off great. I was laughing my ass off while reading it, then it took a sudden turn that I was afraid was going to happen, due to the cover. And I started getting a little pissed off. However, I kept reading because the story was good. I found myself laughing, even though I was horribly offended. That’s hard to do, it’s hard to make me laugh when I’m kind of pissed off at you. But Noble did, and by the time I reached the end I was glad I made myself read it. It was really good.

Then I got to Mike Lombardo’s story. It. Was. Amazing. This Lombardo guy, has real talent. I see him putting out a few books though small presses, putting in work, paying his dues, and then being picked up by a major publisher. He’s that good.

The rest of the stories ranged from meh to awesome due more to my personal taste than the writing quality. My standouts were “FLUSH”, “PACK RAT”, “Zombies of East Jesus” and “Humanification” which was like a zombie outbreak in reverse. Very original idea for a story.

Who would I recommend this to? Not sure, it’s so offensive I’d be afraid you’d look at me weird after reading it. Thinking I’m some sort of sicko that likes to have sex with dead people.

I love two things 1. Anthologies 2. Zombies....this book kicked ass!!! Incredibly diverse collection of zombie stories which is great because with all the hype of the Zombie Craze, it's refreshing to be able to read a collection and not have the same zombie story done over and over. My favorite story in the book had to be Play Place by Mike Lombardo. The story takes place entirely in a McDonald's. The story involves the workers of the restaurant under seige, with zombies pounding down the door, and believe me they don't want a Big Mac! It's almost like a coming of age story of love and missed oppertunities. The ending is incredibly haunting and saddening but it's truly what made the story. What makes this collection so spectacular is the tone of the stories. Play Place saddening but a story like Baby Armor by D.F. Noble is anything but! Not a story I would recommend to oversensitive parents by any means! It's hilarious if you have a sense of humor AND narrated by the one and only Morgan Freeman (least that's how the author makes you hear the voice in your head as you read). Bizare, gory, offensive, hilarious, original, and fun, with a title like ZOMBIE ZOMBIE BRAIN BANG, you can be sure your head will explode with joy!

There is a lot of zombie books out there, but no one does it like Strangehouse books. From necrophilia to strange out bizarre a collection I'm glad I read. The ones listed below are the shorts I enjoyed the most.

(O.Z. by Brian Williams) is written with rage. A zombie autobiography...sorta. 5★s

(Baby Armor by D.F. Noble) as narrated by Morgan Freeman **check out my review on single short.**

(Flush by K.M. Tepe) Laugh Out loud, and will remember to take caution next time on the porcelain guy. 5★s

(Humanification by Mandy De Geit) Prose of the virus. Well written. 4★s

(Felicity Marmaduke by Rich Bottles Jr.) Don't mark me as strange, but for some reason I enjoy reading Necrophilia and zombie babies. 4★s

(Undying Urges by Jesse Wheeler) I've yet to read one Wheeler's pieces of vomit filled, disgusting, revolting shorts I did not like. 5★s

...probably my favorite short story collection I have ever read. I was either laughing, pissed off, or totally enthralled. There was so much diversity in the stories. Although it is hard to pick, the best ones in my opinion were: O.Z. by Brian Williams, Pack Rat by John Bruny, Felicity Marmaduke by Rich Bottles Jr., Humanification by Mandy De Geit, and my absolute favorite, Undying Urges by Jesse Wheeler. It was cool to see so many fresh perspectives on the Zombie genre in one volume. My only wish is that I will not have to wait to find more from these particular authors, as it seems that some of them have only just begun.

They're Coming to Brain-Bang You, Barbara...

If you like your zombie fiction (oxymoron?) with plenty of dead babies and mildly retarded rednecks, then I've got a book recommendation for you! Although one of the twelve tales in "Zombie! Zombie! Brain Bang!" was concocted by me; I shall graciously skip over that particular story in the comments to follow:
The second story scores very high on the redneck/dead baby scale. "Baby Armor" by D.F. Noble is quite unique for the genre - not necessarily because of the half-dozen babies that the main character straps to his body for protection, but because it's meant to be narrated by everybody's favorite old liberal actor Morgan Freeman. Imagine reading a white trash zombie story with Morgan Freeman's distinctive voice going through your head. I especially liked the part where Freeman's voice used an Asian accent to say, "Awr rou screw up now. I weally whip rou good neow... aaaawwwwr!"
I also enjoyed "Pack Rat or The Way of All Flesh - A Parable by John Bruni." This far too brief psychological thriller is about a lonely cellar-dwelling hoarder who brings home the ultimate find - a dead streetwalker. He conscientiously cleans her up in the bathtub and even goes down to the local Laundromat to wash her clothes. But when he comes back, he finds her walking around his basement apartment in nothing but a towel. The question is: has the whore turned into a zombie or is this just the main character's schizophrenic fantasy?
In addition, I applaud David C. Hayes's courage in drawing parallels between the zombie plague and the scourge that is abortion in his story "Rights of the Living Dead." Hayes proves that you can never have too many tales of dead babies seeking vaginal vengeance on their oppressors.
Other gems in this collection include: Brian Williams unearths and translates a first person account of Jesus Christ from the Undead Sea Scrolls in "The O.Z.;" Mike Lombardo proves that even zombies like Happy Meals in "Play Place;" K.M. Tepe investigates the only true pet cemetery in "Flush;" the mighty Quinn Hernandez explores the world of zombie kiddie sex trafficking in "The Job;" Mandy DeGeit lets the whole zombie apocalypse thingy play itself out to a surprising conclusion in "Humanification;" Jesse Wheeler's character Henry has an uncontrollable urge and wants to tell you all about it (an uncontrollable urge, he wants to scream and shout it), in the evil devolutionary tale "Undying Urges;" Justin Roberts proves that excess salt makes for a very unhealthy diet in "Salty;" and Jason Wayne Allen pulls out all the bizarro stops with his trailer-trash time-traveling titty-twisted tail called "Zombies of East Jesus."
So if you're tired of the same old "Oh no, zombies are after us so let's hide on this farm and prepare to do battle" type zombie stories, check out the "Zombie! Zombie! Brain Bang!" anthology from Kevin Strange's StrangeHouse Books.

P.S.
Zombies have apparently taken over Amazon and reprogrammed its review screening technology, so don't look for my review on that website because it has been pulled numerous times without any explanation.

A new Bizarro classic.

I've reviewed this on Amazon, see my ramblings there.

Bottom line: A contemporary Indie Bizarro project that is helping define a new crop of Bizarro authors and breaking away from the established 'pros' in the genre. Nice to see someone doing their own thing. And the quality is there.

The MICRO BREW of Bizarro.

I wouldn't recommend this book to everyone, but I liked it a lot. It was the literary equivalent of slash horror - a Troma film in book form. Some of the stories were disgusting, most of them offensive and a few were borderline blasphemous. But at the same time, most of them were witty, clever and entertaining. And "Humanification" by Mandy DeGeit in particular was absolutely beautiful. If you like horror and zombies, this is an excellent anthology. But if you're not a horror fan, you probably will just mostly be grossed out and offended.

I also have to mention that I got my copy for free from a goodreads giveaway.

I received my first read book free from goodreads giveaway. I love zombie stories, This book has several short stories that are all very entertaining! I love the style of this book just when you think you are reading something fun or comic, a gruesome zombie is on the next page bringing the horror and some of the gore was not funny! So if you like your emotions played with and you enjoy zombies then you will love this book, you will laugh to yourself at the same instance you are making a frown of disgust face! I only recommend this book to people who have no problem visualizing the zombie cult, otherwise if you are not into this then your brain may be eaten!

Not a novel, this anthology was full of many different kinds of "holy crap" inducing stories. It held plenty of gore and it was beautifully twisted. This isn't your average, run of the mill zombie apocalypse book; all the authors put their own twist on the phenomena that is the zombie.

My favorite story had to be "Flush" it had a great buildup that didn't let you down in the end. The writing style was well done and never missed a beat. I'm not going to give away anything so I'll just say that I loved seeing how the author brought the zombie element into being in their short story.

Even though this collection is not full of the 'average' tales, it is a fun book for any zombie lover.

Anthologies just never get old for me. I absolutely love the short story form and always revel in those stories that can entertain me in so few words. And when I can find short stories that are just as crazy as they are terrifying...well, let’s just say that’s about as close to nirvana as I can get. ZOMBIE! ZOMBIE! BRAIN BANG! is one of those collections, and it’s a must-read if you enjoy over-the-top fiction with a hell of a kick.

‘Bizarre’ is an excellent way to describe the stories in this book. These are not your run-of-the-mill horror tropes. Quite the contrary. This collection takes those overused genre cliches and turns them upside down. I can say with confidence that you’ve probably not run into concepts in fiction like these before.

The stories in ZOMBIE! ZOMBIE! BRAIN BANG! are all written well and their premises are unique. I don’t know if I would go so far as to call any of them brilliant, but they will sure make you raise your eyebrows and give an appreciate nod. Chocked full of originality, cringe-worthy situations, and mind-shocking terror, this is one anthology you don’t want to miss.

One of my favorite stories in this collection is ‘Baby Armor’ by D.F. Noble. Just like the title indicates, this story is about a guy who gets the bright idea to rob a bank, and to ensure his safety he straps his six infant children onto his body. His hypothesis is that no one will shoot him if he’s covered with babies. His plan might have actually worked if the zombie apocalypse hadn’t occurred while he was in the bank...

‘Baby Armor’ is just one example of the insanity that you will find in ZOMBIE! ZOMBIE! BRAIN BANG!. Give this one a look for sure if you want to step out of your comfort zone. The book is available now.

I received this book from a good reads give away. I entered because I love zombies and I thought it would be a fun read. I found this book to be disgusting and disturbing, in a bad way. I honestly had a hard time wanting to continue reading this at all. this book is graphic and gory to say the least. while some people might enjoy these types of stories, I think they should put a warning on this book that it might be too sick for other people. trigger warnings: this book uses hate language such as faggot and cunt. this book has an abundance of dead infants and living ones dying in horrible ways. this book describes sexual anatomy and necrophilia in great detail. there is also pedophilia and rape in this book. not to mention drug use, abortion, and a disgusting self cesarean. I also noticed a couple misspellings and typos. and part of one of the stories is a total rip off of silence of the lambs. basically this book is wrong on many levels. some people might enjoy that, but I did not. I could not recommend this book to anyone I know.
