ave you ever counted the number of football grounds you have visited? Have you ever wondered how many you could go to in one season? Well this is exactly what Michael Mowbray did, resulting in a moment of madness and the setting of the great ground hopping challenge that is the subject of this book. At the start of the 2011 2012 season, Michael Mowbray embarked on his quest to visit each of the 66 football grounds in Yorkshire, all within a single season. From the depths of Step 7 of the Non League Pyramid to the dizzy heights of the Championship, Michael presents his adventure, which was much more challenging than simply watching 99 hours of football. You will hear tales of the hazards of extreme ground hopping including flying golf balls, blisters, endless drives in freezing fog and even missing children. The story is a mixture of an unhealthy love of football, the diversity of Yorkshire and perhaps a small midlife crisis. Above all, it s the story of a life changing experience.
I loved this book! As a Yorkshire based football fan this book was a great read. M J Mowbray decides to visit all 66 grounds in Yorkshire down to step 7 in one season. It is well written as it could of been repetitive after a while and there are plenty of humorous stories along the way to keep the reader interested. Ideal read for any football fan as gives a great insight into football teams I didn't even know existed! Would definitely recommend and can't wait to go and do some ground hopping myself!
