Family By Choice #6

Heaven's Tiny Tears

Rate this book
Tommy and Brittany have been through everything. They have survived problems that would level the strongest of couples. They continue to rely on each other and their love to get through every struggle and up until now, they have made it. When Brittany goes into labor, everything they know to be true about their love and faith in each other is tested. Tommy can’t bear to lose his daughter, but his wife’s life is on the line. Can he make the ultimate choice? Heaven’s Tiny Tears shows us the lengths people will go for those they love, and how simply powerful we can become when faced with the unthinkable. Like every book in the series, this family knows what they are capable of, and what power they have. It is up to them to call upon those strengths. Tommy needs to find it in his heart to do right by his girls. Jack and Stephanie try to help, as does Bill and Julie, but another secret is uncovered about someone’s past that throws ever bit of calm they may have into chaos. This just might be the one obstacle they simply cannot overcome.

The dedication in the beginning was very thoughtful and touching "To all of the families that struggle with fertility and premature babies, your strength inspires me."

::SPOILER:: I didn't agree with Naomi's name "Naomi Stephanie Williams" other than the last name, she carries nothing related to Tommy or his family. Also, not a fan of the name Naomi after Brittany's dad "Nathan" ; I would have thought Natalie...

I loved that Julie said "can we just be happy. This back and forth is crap." Thank YOU Julie! I have been saying this throughout this series. Nadler style of writing - to me - is a lot of filler; some novels I felt could be combined and/or reduced significantly.

There was a shift in POV as if from a narrator. It talked about fate striking three times (meaning all three couples) and how news would test/destroy them all. Then it jumped into the usual POV we were use to from a character. I don't know, it threw me off a little. I think Nadler was trying to add a different kind of dramatic element/mood; I prefer sticking to the original, even if I don't agree with it.

Overall in general when a character flashed back or had a dream, that segment should be italic text, but this wasn't always the case. I understand it was kept as regular text for dramatic purposes to "trick" the reader but it was confusing at times too (again, throughout the series). For example, ::SPOILER:: when Brittany and Tommy shared Naomi passed away, at first it was shocking but as the text continued (in standard font style) you grasp it was a dream just based on how it read.

Again, Nadler style seemed to be action pack in the beginning, mindless filler in the middle as well as most of the end and action packed with a cliffhanger at the end. I honestly would space out while reading the middle and felt like I missed nothing. I wish her writing / storytelling style was better...

Another fabulous book in this series! Stephanie, Jack, Tommy, Brittany, Julie, Bill, David, Bee, Tramp, and Naomi once again show that family doesn't have to be blood relatives. Family can be someone you love, who's in your corner and has your back and will fight with you and for you 24/7/365. Now, on to the next book, Courage Lies Within, which continues where Heaven's Tiny Tears left off!
