Julia Moore has no interest in romance -- she's busy raising her son, starting a new career, and mending a broken heart. She certainly never expected a marriage proposal from her boss, gorgeous "playboy politician" Adam Carmichael. Too bad it's only a marriage of convenience, meant to help him win the governor's race.
Adam's touch sets Julia's heart racing. Every public kiss is both a tease and a torment. For his part, Adam finds that he can't keep his hands off his lovely new bride. Neither can deny the physical attraction, especially after they both succumb to a steamy night together. But Adam still isn't convinced that their marriage can ever be more than a publicity stunt.
When Julia's young son is abducted, the truth will have to come out. But will all of the secrets and lies break Julia's heart -- again?
Another romance set in a political arena. This one had the potential storyline for something special but just didn't quite make it. Another case of could have-should have but failed the test. Warning: There are also plenty of errors throughout the book, both in the storyline and grammar/spelling.
This was an enjoyable quick read. It was filled with angst, sexual tension, it was sweet, charming, & sassy. I was definitely hooked from the start. Both protagonists go through character growth/change. Adam Carmichael learns about the importance of family & trust, plus he's one gorgeous & sexy alpha male. I'd like to read more stories by this author.
The plot was great but the book too short. The development of a relationship between the characters is not well developed, so you miss on some good parts. Adam was a jerk in the beginning and I didn't see the transition between jerk to family man, but the book did accomplish its purpose in giving us a good story.
Quite good, yes definitely a few editting flaws but the story/characters were so good you overlook it. Looks to be self-published...with a good editor this could have been that much better.
I was doing some browsing, looking for something to read. Did I want a romance, a thriller, a good old fashioned mystery, what? This caught my eye. Although I'd never heard of the author the book's premise was right up my alley. I decided to chance it and am I glad I did. When the story started out I wasn't at all sure I was going to like Adam. He was ambitious, a bit arrogant, and seemed entirely self-focused. Julia, on the other hand, was a struggling single mom with a new job she hoped would turn out to be just the break she needs to give her son a better life. She's working with Adam Carmichael's campaign as a researcher. Therefore, the last thing she expected to get out of the job was a marriage proposal - from the candidate himself.
Adam is completely frustrated with the way things are going in his campaign. He's doing everything he can to get elected, pulling out all the stops, but he's still behind in the latest polls. Sadly, he truly believes he can do a good job for the people in his state, unlike his opponent who is a regular scumbag only out for himself. When Phil, his campaign manager, comes up with an idea to boost their numbers with the voters, Adam is all ears - until he hears what Phil actually has in mind. Marriage? Seriously? And to whom?
Julia is stunned when Adam summons her to his office. She didn't think he was even aware of her existence. They've never really crossed paths, although that hadn't kept Julia from admiring him from afar. The man was drop dead gorgeous with a killer smile that made her heart skip a beat whenever she saw him. At first, Adam starts out asking her questions about her background, then about her son, Danny. When he starts getting a little too personal, she demands an explanation. That's when he drops the bomb on her and proposes they get married.
Julia has her reasons for accepting his proposal which I won't go into here, and it's after they tie the knot that you come to see Adam in a different light. He has no trouble bonding with Danny and while very professional when out in public, when he's with Julia he lets his hair down so to speak. Of course they are attracted to one another and their relationship starts to heat up. Then Julia's ex show up and threatens to ruin everything.
I ended up really liking both these characters. In fact, I'd love to see them maybe make an appearance in another book. Adam has a bit of a temper and a couple of times jumps to the wrong conclusion about Julia, but he's quick to apologize when he's wrong and in the end when threatened, he really comes through for her. I definitely recommend this one!
I have had this on my kindle to read, for I don’t even know how long years probably. I finally sat down looking for a book that wasn’t really long to read this week. Well now I’m just kicking myself for not reading this sooner because holy cats it was a great book absolutely fabulous great book. In fact, I’ve got to go look her up and see if she has other great books so if you see this by it but don’t let it marinate read it.
The Candidate's Wife is set in the political arena of an election for a new Governor. Adam has been dubbed the Playboy Politician due to him having a different woman on his arm every time. So the answer to this is to recruit Julia as his wife. The whys and wherefores are gone into so I won't bother going into that again.
On this whole, this is a sweet romance with a dash of heat. Julia is more than Adam thought she would be, and Julia has long admired Adam's political stance so it doesn't take much to become admiration for the man as well. With a bit of family suspense as well as political drama thrown in, this book has something for everyone.
Well written, with few editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow, this book was enjoyable. Their relationship moved a bit quickly for me though - from not knowing each other to professing undying love in three weeks. On the whole, an enjoyable read.

What a thoroughly enjoyable book. This was a well thought out storyline that kept you interested from start to finish. Julia & Adam were very intriguing characters that were filled with so many sides to their personalities. That when you knew for that okay this so predictable it was not and vice a versa for other things. The plot had many twist & turns but so worth reading it was more then your normal love story I thought it had that spice of excitement to make it a page turner. You will see Adam the normal Alpha Male type soften but with a fight. Yet, Julia the single shy mother with a highly educated brain. She turns into a driving force in every phase of his live & her own. I totally enjoyed this free read.
I enjoyed this book. It was a sweet, charming, romance novel witch had a bit of an old school 80's/90's romance vibe to it. I liked the plot - politician needs instant family to win vote, so he enters into a marriage of convenience - and the characters were good, they could have been a bit more developed, but this was only a short book, about 143 pages, so that can be forgiven. Apart from a few grammar errors towards the end of the story I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read.
Probably closer to a 2.5* read. It is a well written story usung an old favourite premise - the marriage of convenience. This time to improve Adam's senator race chances. Julia is the cinderella type, living in dire circumstances, with the addicted ex coming out of the wood work. After a number of bumps in the road, they come to love each other, Adam is a hero and all is right in the world. The story is fine, just a bit too pat for me at this time.
I thought this was a really sweet lover story. I liked how Julia was a portrayed as a smart country girl that had better insight into the political work than most men. The sacrifices she made for her son and family and the I really liked the support she got from her family. I loved how she won over Adam and how quickly they made the right connection. The suspense in the end really added a special touch.
I really liked the premise of this book and thought it held a lot of promise. Sadly, it did not deliver. 'The Candidate's Wife' was far too short, making the storyline feel rushed and incomplete. As the book was so short I didn't connect with the characters or their lives. Furthermore, I didn't care what happened to them. I wasted my time reading 'The Candidate's Wife' and would not recommend it.
Agree with many of the other reviews. This was a quick interesting read with a good plot. However, it needs editing as there are numerous grammatical, spelling and continuity errors. Personally, I didn't find the editing mistakes too off putting, although they did make it difficult to follow the plot at some points. I would recommend reading this book, and I would like to read more by this author, but a good editor is essential.
I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read! From the moment I'd read the sneak peek chapter prior to purchasing The Candidate's Wife, I knew I would enjoy the book. While the plot line was perhaps just a bit predictable, the story was well told and the characters were well written. The exciting conclusion made me-- can one "flip" pages on a Kindle book? -- quickly read to the book's last page. Another good read! Thanks, Amazon!!
Honestly we see the characters grow in this book. I really recommend it if you want to read a good love story. SPOILER!!! We see Adam Carmichael as a rude selfish guy but then you see his past and the reasons for his actions. The love scares them both which i find so adorable! Overall its a good book and it free!

As a candidate for Governor Adam was losing because he opponent was presenting himself as family man. He picked one of his workers to marry him.. She had son, so he would have a premade family. This marriage was headed for trouble because she had feelings for him but what would come up to cause trouble for them.
Boring book. I couldn't get through it. I'm on 25% and I had to stop reading. I didn't like the Hero or the Heroine. And the way he asked her to marry him was just so unromantic (even though they didn't even know each other yet, but still) and it happened way too soon.
Very good read. The story/plot was thoroughly written. At times, I felt some parts were overly written but overall, this was a GREAT book. A feel good romance.
