I live in a small town in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.

I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.

Maybe I read a different book from some of you who left reviews. It doesn't take much to make me enjoy a book and it is rare I rate something lower than a 3 but the writing in this book was so choppy and without emotion. The main character gets mad but then he's over it - no problem. The author tried to make it interesting by throwing in new twists but they just didn't work.

BOOK REVIEW: KJ DAHLEN’S NO ONE TO HEAR YOU SCREAM

As a policeman in Louisiana, Sam has seen his fair share of violent crime. When violence hits home, he knows he must track his wife’s killer. Leaving his young son with family, he launches an unauthorized investigation.
FBI agents have also been tracking this killer. Sent by FBI hierarchy to chaperone Sam, Agent Cole has been on the killer’s trail for over 4 years. Sam doesn’t know this agent personally but has heard good things about him. All he’s really focused on are the few clues this murderer has left behind like ritualistic carvings in the victims’. Piecing together details from cases of the past, Sam starts connecting the dots.
But after a short time, signs start to point towards Agent Cole’s involvement in these brutal murders. Is the agent really what he appears to be or is there a sinister side to him? Quickly, Sam must discern whose side the agent is really on- Sam’s or the killer’s. When Sam’s young son is kidnapped by this man who’s murdered his mother, Sam must move fast to save him. Can he solve this mystery before his son & more women die?
KJ Dahlen has written a great, suspenseful mystery. Vigilante detectives in novels & television are always fun characters. People enjoy when someone breaks the rules for the greater good. Sam’s character is easily understood since he has motivation, skills & the means to search for the killer.
Skillful plot twists keep the reader wondering whether or not they’ve really figured out what’s going on. Characters such as Sam’s son make the reader emotionally invested in the investigation. An ending twist keeps the drama coming.
Dahlen has a good grasp on modern mystery writing. She’s established consistent winners with all her releases. ‘No One TO Hear You Scream’ can be purchased at book retailers such as Amazon.

I received a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. A fantastic suspenseful novel! Police officer Sam Sebastian’s wife was tragically murdered. In order to protect the last of his family, he must catch this killer. Joined by FBI agent Cole Davidson, they begin a manhunt for this crazy serial killer. Soon, questions begin to arise about Cole, and as Sam begins to wonder if he can really trust him. This was so great, I read it in one day! K. J. Dahlen have woven an intricate suspense novel with so many twists and turns, you cannot put it down as you want to see what happens next. This book is a winner, if you like suspense novels then this is certainly a must read!

This is the 2nd book I have read by KJ Dahlen....the first was Cards of Sin. Like the Cards of Sin, I was unable to put this down once I started reading it. From the beginning you're pulled write into the thick of the drama. The main character, Sam, has just buried his wife (murdered by the serial killer) and makes the decision to stop this murderer. He reluctantly shares this task with Cole, and FBI agent...and Sam senses he's hiding something from the beginning. I was definitely surprised by Cole's secret...which is good because I wasn't able to guess it early...both my suspicions were wrong. You get to know more of the killer in this book, which I really appreciated. It's a fast-paced story and I felt anxious reading it because of this. The sense of urgency to catch this killer is certainly felt. Overall it's a good read and I enjoyed it...although if KJ had made it longer I wouldn't have minded.

This is a tight well written thriller that peaked my interest and had me wanting to know more from the start. I have to be honest here and say this... I felt as if the story started before we came in, it felt as if we walked in half way through a conversation. Now call me ghoulish but I would have preferred the story start with the murder so we got a sense of the killer right from the word go. I am sure the story started when it did to add to the mystique of the killer and it did work but it took me longer to get into the story because I just didn't understand some of the dynamic between the characters. But give the book a chance and you will be hooked I guess I am just a bit impatient and want it all and now!

Dramatically beginning with the funeral of Sam’s wife, the story is fast paced and has many twists and turns. The insinuation that FBI agent Cole may have more to do with the murders adds more mystery to the storyline.
The story is wound cleverly as the killer leaves a trail a mile long and is yet difficult to corner. He is brazen enough to walk right into police quarters without the authorities nabbing him.
I liked the story as it was a very quick read. It is well written and provides the suspense that a crime thriller must do.
I would give it 4 stars simply because of a personal opinion that murder mysteries go down better if you are kept guessing about the killer’s identity till the very end.

I finished this book just to see how it ended, but I wasn't impressed. Sam was a pathetic example of a cop and the whole "look a like cousin" thing was horrible. I've read good cop books; this is not one of them.

Short story. Started out pretty well, but died down after couple of chapters. The way of writing gave of an amateur vibes.
