Vampiress Coco Jeffres has lost her mojo. She plans to use her solstice trip to Mystic Isle, the pleasure playground for paranormals, to get it back. For once she’s looking for lust, not love. What she hadn’t planned on was coming face to face with an old obsession.
Tall, dark, and oh-so-handsome werewolf Grayson West is well versed in the arts of war and women. He’s got one week to blow off steam before he heads out on his next mission and he’s more than willing to help a lady find her inner vixen.
Especially when she’s the same beautiful blue eyed vamp he met one hundred years ago and has never been able to forget. They were once sworn enemies, pulled apart by war. Now they’re lovers. But history has a way of rearing its ugly head and their new relationship will have to stand up to the test of loyalty, friendship and even time itself.

Christmas reads are fun. I usually read them one year in advance for you (at Christmas though) and expect absolutely nothing of them since they are free and I'm just killing time between various chores connected to this time. So I need a no-brainer which wouldn't let me think and which I wouldn't have problems abandoning at any time when someone needed me in the kitchen or around the house. That's why this short story from a festive time on a mysterious island where only supernaturals can go was the right choice. Once sworn enemies who couldn't kill each other in a war one hundred years ago and who didn't forget each other though they spent only a brief moment together, a vampiress (is it word already?) and a werewolf, meet on this island where supernaturals go only to scratch an itch. Will it be like that for them or will they develop some feelings despite being labeled as enemies even in the time of peace, and against the vampiress's coven's prejudiced opinion of werewoles? The story is short so it doesn't really explain a lot of stuff that happened between vampires and werewolves (which I'd appreciate) but then again, it's not a saga about that. It's a hot read which is supposed to make you feel good because the love at first sight exists.
What a fantastically, fast-paced holiday read! I love how the author really brought on the intensity and the emotional angst in this story. From the very beginning there are so many layers to the story that I can only hope she will bring us more books in the series to see what happens next. I enjoyed the way these two characters reconnected and the little push of help they received along the way. The author kept me glued to my seat until the very end and I am looking forward to seeing what she writes about next.
Not great, basically just poorly written smut with a tiny attempt at a greater underlying plot. I'm guessing the "plot" is to help expand the book into a larger series which I will not be continuing.
I have always loved a good romance that involves a struggle of some type for the characters to be together. The characters here are so well defined that I immediately had an affinity with them and wanted to know everything about them. I was not drawn into things right from the start but when I was I had a hard time putting it down. The narrative is very straight forward and gives a fairly good look at everyone and everything that is happening on the Island. The story is told with multiple points of view so that you do not get just one side of the story.
CoCo Jeffres is taking a trip to Mystic Isle with her four coven mates in order to get her mojo back after getting out of a bad relationship. Coco is looking for some good sex and validation that she is still a sexy vampiress after Dimitri. CoCo's friends are an interesting mix, her best friend is Izzy who has a particular dislike of werewolves and expects her friends to follow suit. Grayson West is a werewolf who has gone to Mystic Isle because he is about to go out on another mission and wants to have some female company before he enters the jungle, or desert or wherever he may end up.
Mystic Isle is the place paranormals go to play and have sexual encounters without consequence. CoCo and Grayson run into each other, the last time they saw each other was on a battlefield 100 years ago as enemies. Even as supposed enemies there was something between them that they could not name. When they see each other it all comes back, but they are not sure what it is or what to do about it. Can enemies become lovers?
Okay, once again Christmas is only alluded to in the story and is not an integral part of it. It seems to be more for the use of the mistletoe. I do have to date my self a little bit though because Latham seems very much like Mr. Roarke on Fantasy Island in how he handles his guests. I totally enjoyed this though, a very hot wolf, a sexy vamp, and a setting that made it all the more romantic in the end. I think anyone would enjoy this!
What a lovely idea... A paradise retreat for paranormals looking for adventurous sex. The concept grabbed me right away, specially since I was looking for something sexy and quick to read with a paranormal twit.
I loved the love at first sight love story that took a century to come to fruition. Grayson, a werewolf, met Coco, vampire, in the battlefield a long time ago when their two races were at war. The connection was instant, but the circumstances didn't allow them to get together.
Over one hundred years later, they meet by chance at Mystic Isle where paranormals go to find some sexy fun. However, what Grayson and Coco share seems to be much more than only fun. Even though Coco's coven mates might be against it.
I really enjoyed Fangs, Fur and Mistletoe. It was a quick read, but very sexy and entertaining. We get a good glimpse of the world Selena Blake has created and I, for one, cannot wait for more stories in the Mystic Isle!
This was a very sweet "love at first sight" vampire/werewolf story. Many many moon ago this couple met on a battle field and it was an instant attraction. Now, present day they meet again at of all places an island resort at Christmas time. I loved this very hot couple, Coco & Grayson!!
Coco a vampiress and Grayson a werewolf met 111years ago as enemy warriors in the war between their two people. They were drawn together but turned and fought others never seeing each other till they both arrive on Mystic Isle . He has a week before going to his next battle. She is with a all female group of vampires from her coven just looking for fun. When they bump into each other they both still remember the battlefield meeting so long ago and both are still single never married. Can they have a few days and walk away? How will their friends and families react ? Some still don't like the other and hold to the ideal they shouldn't mix. Is it love or just lust? Can either look at it and decide what they want it to be? Even the god who owns Mystic Isle tries to offer help in his own way. Love the story and added the next four to my to be read list.
The blurb promised an enemies to lovers tale where the rivals battle in the war against each other and feel intense attraction for each other during the battle. That premise drew me in and I wanted to read more!
But what the book promised and what was delivered was vastly different. The book starts 100+ years after the war, and the rival factions are not fighting anymore. The leads meet at a Vegas-ish resort for paranormal creatures. They recognize each other from the war, acknowledge they felt the chemistry back then, and now since there is no war anymore they give in to their urges. So the intense push-pull dynamic that I thought would form a part of the story was only in the blurb. Anyway, I DNFed pretty quickly after that.
I enjoyed the first book in this series and had to read the second one - especially since it’s the Christmas season! And all kinds is mischief and mayhem is going on at the Mansion on Mystic Isle. Business is slow for Melanie, who does tattoos and Cat who does Tarot readings. So when Papa Noel is discovered dead and his bag of gifts and money gone, Mel and Cat investigate. I really enjoy the Bayou atmosphere and talk as I read these books. And the characters and plots (twisty and unpredictable) make the a definite Want To Read! I received a free copy of this book and write this review voluntarily
This is a sweet and s*xy paranormal romance. I loved the writing, and I thought Grayson and Coco were great characters. I love a strong female, even if she is a vampire. The ending made me smile. I am definitely going to be looking for more stories from this writer.
A fun read and sexy read. On an island getaway Coco runs into an old acquaintance from way back. Grayson hasn't forgotten their long ago meeting. Can they overcome all obstacles that are in their way of happiness? Read this novella and find out. You won't be disappointed.
Hot nights lead two lovers back into each others arms after a century apart. Neither forgot the other. Amazing, scintillating, panty melting sex. But true love can not be denied.
Really enjoyed reading this great story and looking for love after so many years. So very interesting and look forward to reading more by Selena. Highly recommend reading.
An interesting read that will have you hooked. A love that spans centuries between a vampire and a werewolf. There's plenty to this story that'll keep your interest.
This was a good story. I liked both Greyson and Coco and their story was short but sexy and an enjoyable read. This is the first book I've read by this author and based on this I'd be willing to try more of her work in the future.
Coco is a vampire and a woman's self defense instructor. She has been a female warrior for a long time but now uses her fighting skills to help others. Coco is french and lives with a coven of female vampires outside of Pairs. Her most recent Ex was very cold and unfeeling, making her feel like her sexual desires were a bad thing. Coco hasn't felt herself in a while and when her coven decides to go to Mystic Isle, Coco decides it's time she got her groove back.
Grayson is a werewolf and a warrior. He currently works as a mercenary as he's good at fighting and that's all he knows. He's never found someone he wanted to take as a mate and goes to Mystic Isle to blow off some steam before his next assignment. He wasn't expecting to run in to a familiar face.
Around 100 years ago, both Grayson and Coco were in a war and on opposite sides. Although they were in the middle of a battle the connection between them was undeniable. They were unable to fight each other but were also unable to stay together. They both have thought of the other over the last 100 years and longed to see each other again. When Coco and her coven show up at the Isle, she runs in to Grayson (literally) almost immediately. They recognize each other but don't get a chance to talk. Coco and Grayson reconnect soon enough and find that their old connection is still just as strong and they can't deny the attraction between them. They spend a sex filled night together and Coco thinks it's just a one time thing. Fortunately, neither of them can forget the other and Grayson sends her a dress and an invite to join him the next night. Things between Coco and Grayson escalate and they both feel it and have some confusion about their place together. It also doesn't help that Coco feels motivated to keep Grayson a secret because her BFF (who's also a member of her coven) was raped by a werewolf and Coc doesn't think she could handle the news. Meanwhile, Coco is having a tough time trying to keep things quiet with Grayson and soon it becomes impossible. As is to be expected, there does end up being some drama before everything is said and done but once that has been dealt with, Coco and Grayson are together and set to start their HEA.
This was an enjoyable story. I liked both Coco and Grayson and was happy they were able to work things out to be together. I do wish there had been a little more at the end as there was no indication of where things would go from there (and Grayson is supposed to be going on another assignment as a mercenary) but while a little frustrating, it wasn't too bad of an issue since they're solidly together at the end of the story. Overall I liked the story and might try more of the series in the future. :)
I thought the excerpt of this book sounded fun. An island that paranormals can go to and have casual sexual encounters, sounded like a good paranormal read for the holidays. Here in Alaska, most people think of Hawaii for their holiday get aways, so it wasn’t too much of a stretch for me.
Hidden under the holiday get away was the 100 year old attraction that a vampire had felt for a werewolf. During a werewolf-vampire war the two had briefly met on the battlefield and felt a type of connection. They were supposed to be fighting each other, but instead found themselves fighting an unnatural attraction. Of course the middle of a battlefield is no place for romance and the two had not seen each other since the battle 100 + years ago. Even given the very long separation, the sparks still fly when the vampire Coco and werewolf Grayson run into each other.
This story was not only a love story, but also a story on social prejudice. The war between the vamps and weres is over, but not forgiven in the different races. So when Coco starts seeing Grayson, she doesn’t want her friends to find out. Grayson starts believing their relationship wouldn’t be able to go anywhere if Cocoa is not willing to accept him openly and not hide their relationship from her friends.
I enjoyed the romantic play between Grayson and Coco. One hundred years is a long time to wait for someone, so they have a lot of time to make up. I also enjoyed the pull and sparks between the two and enjoyed finding out what had happened between the two of them. This was a great sexy read.
Even though this book is part of a series, it was a complete story and did not end in a cliff-hanger. (Thank you Selena Blake!)
This was another great little holiday tale but could be read year-round. If you are looking for a sexy paranormal tale, this could be for you!
In Fangs, Fur & Mistletoe Vampiress Coco Jeffres visits a tropical island that is the meeting place for paranormal beings to recover from a break-up and have a fun time enjoying a vacation of fun and sex. One of the first men she meets is wolf, Grayson West that she met in battle over a hundred years ago and fell for at first sight.
The romance is hot and full of steamy sexual encounters while Coco hides her affair from her coven mates and Gray becomes her dirty little secret and he has had enough.
The story is written from both points of view of the main characters with a cast of interesting friends and characters having a good time. The dialogue is witty, fun and clever to add interest with each encounter. The story is set at Christmas so the resort has a full agenda of events planned to the guest from concerts to bonfires on the beach. This is a fun novella full of various types of paranormal species mixing together having a good time.
An inventive paranormal romance, Fangs, Fur & Mistletoe by Selena Blake, shows how two enemies can become lovers even in the midst of war. The first of Selena Blake's Mystic Isle series, we see these two enemies, Grayson West and Coco Jeffres instant romance return a hundred years later. But as history typically does it haunts them, thickening their relationship with conflict and attraction.
Coco, a vampiress, fought against the werewolves, including Grayson, a hundred years prior to the beginning of Fangs, Fur & Mistletoe. Living in France with her coven, Coco works as a self defense expert helping women protect themselves. While, Grayson, works as a covert warrior for hire around the world. Just released from his last job, Grayson wants to relax at Mystic Isle; but Coco is there to get her mojo back, after a recent end to a relationship. Meeting up was by chance, but when the sparks fly a hundred years after their first attraction, the sparks are just too much to handle. With only a week to realize their true potential together Grayson will pull out all the stops to try to win Coco and even her coven over.
Fangs, Fur & Mistletoe a paranormal romance, that also brings in a little Christmas cheer to the book, tests the will and romances of all characters involved. As the first in the Mystic Isle series, Fangs, Fur & Mistletoe sets up the first of several more books revolving around this paranormal playground. Expect more books centered around Mystic Island in 2013.
I like going into a new book blind. I don't like reading summaries or reviews or anything at all about the book before i start reading. For this book, that really worked against me. In the beginning, everyone was being introduced and so many details were given about each character that I had problems figuring out who the book is supposed to (mainly) be about. The book is in 3rd person but each section follows one of the characters a bit more closely and we get to hear what he/she is thinking. There were two places that I can think of that were a bit weird to read bc they were not from either of our main characters' view. I did finish the book. So that counts for something. I didn't totally hate it. There were good parts and there were parts that weren't quite so good. Overall, it was a not-horrible read about love at first sight. I'd be willing to give some other books by this author a try.
The story is about Coco Jeffres (a vampire) who and Grayson West (a werewolf) who first met years ago on the battlefield. Ever since that time neither have quite forgotten the other. Now that Coco's long term relationship ended, she is taking a much needed vacation to get back on the horse and find a man. Grayson's plan was to blow off steam, until the two ran into each other on Mystic Isle and the sparks fly. Can they make a relationship work, or will Coco let old prejudices dictate who she can love?
An enjoyable hot and steamy read. I think the story could have been better with a bit more character/relationship development. I'm a details kind of girl and like the build up of a relationship. Even so, it's a good story of unrequited love at first sight and what happens years later.
Once again, author of the highly acclaimed Stormy Weather series Selena Blake, has provided her readers with an erotic, intriguing, and sensually crafted story of a fleeting moment when two hearts came together, only to be torn apart by the impact of war.
Can two beings from a background of mutual distrust, come together to bridge the prejudice of others and rekindle a love lost to a century of time.
The characters of Ms Blake's newest series Mystic Isle will have you craving your next fix before you have totally consumed the first. Be prepared to get caught up in the multiple personalities, heartaches and undying friendship of the amazing immortal women who find themselves in the midst of this debut story.

2.75 Stars A VERY short read. Less than 100 pages. Its actually PNR Erotica There was a lot I liked and a lot I didn't. The writing needed to be better. Sometimes it was boring. The sex scenes are hot. The basis of the story is interesting.
I actually planned on trying the next book in this series but never got around to it. It just wasn't important enough to me and had enough problems with it that it kept dropping off my radar.
It definitely needed to be either a little (lot?) longer or the writing needed to be improved enough that the story had more depth. Truthfully, I'm also not a fan of 'Holiday' reads.
