[Siren Erotic Paranormal Consensual BDSM Cowboy Romance, light flogging, sex toys, HEA] Gracie Emery believes her "gift" of being able to calm children and animals with her touch is a curse. Her touch also causes pain to any man who tries to get close to her. As a result she withdraws, determined not to touch any man and condemning herself to a life of isolation. James "Deuce" McKade has loved Gracie from the time they were children. The thought of any man touching her makes jealousy rear its ugly head. She is meant to be his mate, fill his heart with love and his home with children. He knows she will accept every part of his nature and willingly give him the gift of her submission. He will prove to her that they are fated mates even if he has to tie her to his bed to make her listen! She is meant to be his. He just has to convince Gracie. While Touching Deuce is a stand-alone title, it is suggested that John’s Vision, Cowboy Mates, Psychic Connections 1, be read first for continuity. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Title: Touching Deuce
Author: Lynnette Bernard
Psychic Connections - Cowboy Mates Book 2

James "Deuce" McCade, Boss of the McCade Ranch, Dominant Alpha Male type, and secret desire of Gracie Emery. If you ask Gracie to decribe herself the mostly likely answer would be cursed. She can calm, women, children and animals in distress, but the minute she touches a man both she and he feel pain. An intimate relationship with the man of her dreams, Deuce is out of the question. How can she make love to the man sho holds her heart knowing it will cause him unbelievable pain. She can't even shake hands with a man without him crying out. No it is better to stay away or get out of his life before someone gets hurt.

Then Melanie, her sister, has a vision and els Gracie that there will be complications with the delivery of her second child and that both she and Duece are to care for son and new baby. Gracie agrees immediatly and Deuce, being no one's fool uses the situation to get Gracie in his home. From there can it be that much harder to get her into his bed. Deuce has loved Gracie since they were kids and knows she was fated to be his mate and the mother of his children. He only has to convince Gracie that instead of pain she brings him peace and centers him and that the Great Spirits have destined them to be together. A task that seemed a lot easier when he was thinking it out than when he puts it into action.

Welcome back to the McCade Ranch, it Is time to get to know Gracie Emery and James " Deuce McCade better. Although a stand alone book in its own right I recommend you read John's Vision first to catch up in greater detail some of the characters and how they fit into the story line. As always Lynnette Bernard works her magic with words to bring a story of Love, Romance and just a touch of mysticism. The men of the McCade Ranch are Alph males all the way. They protect their own and will fight any and all threats to their family and friends. You will not want to leave once you meet them. Like me you will be waiting for book 3 which is in progress now. You will fall in love with Lynnette Bernard's characters and her. Her love of romance and family comes through each and every one of her books.

Lynnette Bernard is from a large and loving family and is also a talented author without a doubt, but she is also a survivor of life. Lynnette began writing her first book at the tender age of 14. She has known rejection of her work like most authors, but never gave up. She eventually was signed on with Siren Publishing, a smart move on their part. She has two series going at present but if you go to her website, http://www.lynnettebernard.com/ you will see she has many different novels swirling around in that busy mind of hers. I wish there was a quicker process to getting the raw ideas from her thoughts down onto paper (or computer). She is a writer through and through, like most authors she would probably bleed words if you were to cut her.

When she gets a moment to relax she likes to read almost anything she can get her hands on or go to the movies or the beach. Her greatest joy is her family, her children, brothers, sisters and mother. The strongest and greatest infuence in the making up the characteristics of her male heroes is her father. Many of the characteristics of her heroines come from Lynnette herself. In each and every book family is the main driving force. Children are nutured and loved just as Lynnette and her family cherish their children, as should we all. Her stories remind us that love shines bright in the darkness of adversity. It is how we face life's trials that makes us the people we are, fault and fallicies included. Bending is allowed but not letting it break us completely is how we grow in strength and character. Using that premiss I can honestly say Lynnette Bernard is one of the strongest women I know.

Lynnette Bernard believes in happily ever after just as most of us do. We know love is not perfect, but it can be the best thing in our lives. Sometimes we do not get it right the first time, but if we are lucky we do find it, until then we have authors like Lynnette to keep the hope of finding it alive in all of us. The creed Ms Bernard lives by would be the quote: “The heart knows what it needs.” She truly believes and lives by this quote. Lynnette said it best herself when she stated, "Every one of us has a basic need for acceptance, kindness, and love. That’s why every one of my books will always have a Happily Ever After, and the men and women will be kind and loving toward one another. Life is too hard. In my books, kindness and love will reign." Lynnette Bernard could be your neighbor or co-worker, a woman worth knowing.

I fell in love with the McKade family in book one. There we met all of the brothers and discovered that Deuce McKade was the oldest brother, intent on fathering all of his brothers and taking care of those who couldn’t protect themselves. This was the situation with 8 year old Grace; she was trying to take care of her little sister Melanie while her abusive parents did their own thing. Grace fell in love with Deuce way back then and was happy to just be a friend of his in adulthood. It helped that her little sister married Luke McKade, Deuce’s brother.

Now Melanie is about to deliver her second child and knows that there will be issues with the birth. The girls have a special gift, Melanie can see into the future and Grace has the power to calm children and animals. Grace’s gift comes with a curse though, most humans that she touches not only causes her pain but she also sends pain to those who she is not meant to touch. As Deuce and Grace get his ranch house set up for Robby, their nephew and the new baby so Melanie and Luke can focus on her recovery, Deuce decides this is the time to prove to Grace that she is his mate.

The McKade family history includes the Great Spirit placing a symbol on the back of the necks for the two who were supposed to be mated. Deuce knows once he has proven to Grace they were meant to be the symbol will appear and they can focus on having babies and creating a family. Grace wants Deuce, her doubts about a family comes from the pain she experienced with her gift. Will she give birth to children who will be isolated and tormented like she was? She can see her nephew has her sister’s gift, it has to be the same for her, that gift/curse will be passed on to her children.

I love how the author has created this family for us to fall in love with. In this book we get to experience some of the background stories about the other brothers as well. It wasn’t enough to let us know the whole story but it sure increased my interest in getting on with the rest of this series. The ladies in their life are not only friends but they fit with the McKade brothers like a glove to a hand.

Grab your copy of Touching Deuce and watch this love story unfold into a magical relationship. With her lust for him that is covered in fear and his alpha protectiveness that sometimes overpowers his love, this is a beautiful story to jump into.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

So I absolutely loved the beginning of Touching Deuce. I was instantly enamored of James Deuce MacKade. Even as a teenager he always knew the lovely, talented Gracie was his mate and he tried to protect her from bullies and nasty people. And that didn't change as they got older, even though he tried waiting patiently for Gracie to realize they were made to be together, she still tried to keep him at arms length.

I couldn't get through this book fast enough, even though I tried to take my time with it. I freaking LOVED Deuce and Gracie was such a sweetheart! Even though she went through a really tough childhood, I was amazed at how she kept her sweetness as an adult while she continued to use her wonderful gift to sooth animals and children. She was so strong and compassionate and yes, stubborn, that it was very hard not to like her. But nothing, not even her stubbornness could keep Deuce away. In fact I thought I melted in a puddle of goo, as he not only treasures her, but knows how to get dirty in the BEST way to get what he wants...her. This book was sizzling, sexy, and so delicious! The sex was SOOOO. GOOD. I LOVE BDSM play SOOO MUCH, so the fact that I get a good romance as well as some smoking hot kinky sex, made me love the story that much more.

Lynnette Bernard amazes me with her writing. She knows how to weave a good romance with a mixture of suspense, hot sex, and sweetness. I give Touching Deuce a SIZZLING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Touching Deuce is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE so far in this series. If you love a great romance where the man is a true alpha but who is incredibly tender and protective too, Then this book, no this SERIES is it for you!! I totally recommend it.

Discovering at a young age that her touch could cause people pain, Gracie had accepted to herself that she would just live a life alone. With her friends and family around her, she was as happy as she could be. Although she wanted to be touched, she didn’t want to put anyone through the pain of her touch.
Deuce has always loved Gracie, even as children. But he has kept his distance because he wanted her to be happy. Finally deciding to throw caution to the wind, he makes his move for Gracie, but he wasn’t prepared for her fears that she hurt him. Every time that Gracie has touched him, it didn’t bring pain, it brought happiness.
Trying to work through her concerns with touching, and him trying to learn how to open up more, both Deuce and Gracie begin to grow together as a couple, as mates. Realizing that they can both help each other, they realize that by helping each other out in their lives, makes them both happy.

I have enjoyed reading Lynnette’s books since I have found her as an author a few months ago. It is amazing to read a romance, which is about the romance and not the games that are played in some of the books out now. In her books, she writes about real love, the type of love that lasts. She has the ability to make the reader wish they were living in the towns that she has created.
As with the first book in The Cowboy Mate’s series, there is some BDSM in this book. However there isn’t a large amount that takes over the book as a whole. These books focus more on the love between the mates, as opposed to focusing on the BDSM aspect of the story.

After reading and liking the first Cowboy Mates book, John's Vision Cowboy Mates, Psychic Connections 1 , I was expecting much greater things. I didn't even make it past the third chapter! The fact that Deuce all of a sudden decides to make Gracie his mate, without any catalyst or specific motive, is so incredibly unbelievable I couldn't keep going.
(Mildest of spoilers)
Like, you've known she's your mate for years, and you've both known since you were 13 and she was 8 that it doesn't hurt either of you when you touch, and yet you wait 24 years - TWENTY FOUR YEARS to claim her (for no particular reason) and then change your mind in the space of 15 seconds (again, for no particular reason)?? No.
