Rate this book
Sigmund Freud's influence on modern psychology and scholarly thought is incalculable. Yet the greatest exposure most students have to Freud's work comes from parodies, caricatures, and misrepresentations. Sigmund Freud fills this gap, tracing Freud's methods, goals, and the development of his theories, from his early studies of neural structures to his work as a philosopher of human civilization. Highlights include Freud's work with hysterics, his "discovery" of the subconscious, and his theories of human sexuality.

Sigmund Freud, a name that shows up frequently when we read about the era of scientific prosperity in the 20th century, Freud is known to be the founding father of psychoanalysis, which is a clinical method used for treating psychopathology through conversation between the patient and his psychoanalyst.
Freud seemed to be quiet a strict person when it comes to his theories, he was willing to lose anyone who stands against them or oppose his ideas, not to mention that he really had very little tolerance for the thoughts of others, however it was interesting to see how his theories evolved throughout his life. to a point where he contradicted and abandoned some of them.
Freud published many books and essays with respect to psychology throughout his life,
i came across this book when i was looking for biography books of Sigmund Freud, i wanted to read about his life and his personality before carrying on to his works and i found what i hoped for here.
the book consists of 10 chapters, talking briefly about Freud's life, from his birth to his death.
I recommend anyone who's willing to read Freud's works to start from this book.

As I read about the unwavering domination of the unconscious over consciousness from Freud, I always asked the question: Was there an unconscious before Freud?

Could there be a field that existed but was unknown so that it came to light with Freud? So, this situation also presents us that there are other areas of consciousness that are not known yet. At this point, Freud would be one step ahead for humanity, but behind for the "ideal".

When we look at pre-Freud, the main result we encounter is the unconscious phenomenon that Spinoza examines. This is a phenomenon adorned with the philosophy of ignoramus. Ignoramus is the theory of "Ignorance". Performs the examination of consciousness and psychology in the light of the concept of obscurity. This is a kind of septic stance. and the incomprehensible ignoramus. I think about the unconscious for a long time. And this was the sub-topic of my article, which I pre-studied for a top thesis topic (or even theory) by making a preliminary discussion. Beyond the unconscious or ignoramus.

Freud is the name of the greatest leap forward in the irreversible progress of human history. The revelation of the unconscious phenomenon has also been a trigger for man's 'faithful disbelief' in ignoramus.

If I go back to the essence of the book without going too deep into the subject, the author Muckenhoupt examines the people to whom we can attribute the "unconscious" adjective in Freud's real life and Freud's relationship with these names. Especially when Adler and Jung are officially like Freud's works without a trace, when evaluated from the point of view of the book...

One of the best books worth reading.

“He offered the world a new way to explore the human mind. He was not a scientist in the modern sense, but he made it possible for thousands of researchers, therapists, artists, and writers to investigate the unconscious motivations behind behaviors, the feelings we would refuse to acknowledge, and the dark foundations beneath the mask of rational thought.”
