Never judge a book by its cover...and apparently not on its Goodreads reviews, either.
Really, people?? Whoever gave this book 4 or 5 stars must be pretty limited in their reading repertoire. Just being honest..wish other people could do the same.
Sadly, the pretty cover is about all this book has going for it. That, and the fact that I got it for free. I would be pretty upset if I had paid for this: This book is awkward, immature, poorly written & poorly edited. It lacks any real emotion, has no character development, and has NO PLOT.
The writing is 8th grade level at best, with generic phrases and too many typos and mistakes to even count. Every other sentence is either punctuated with an exclamation point, or is Allie crying and being insecure that this guy she just met yesterday is going to "let another girl hang on him".
A couple times I actually laughed out loud at how creeped out I was by these fictional characters and their cheesy weirdness.
The story takes place in a one week span. The characters have no development at all. There is no flow to the story. The whole premise is just underdeveloped and creepy and every other paragraph is a "mind blowing sex scene!" with this guy's "growing erection" and "hairless chest". Yeah. Skeevy.
Then there's a line about Allie needing to change her panties every time she thinks about Donovan. Gross.
Let's not forget the weird sex scene in an American Eagle dressing room. LOL
Donovan talks a lot about his money and how rich he is, and he does it in a creeper way, which is a pet peeve of mine, and it always skeeves me out in real life when this happens too. Douche-baggish.
This story just tries really, really hard to be something it's not, (cough, cough, 50 Shades) but it just reads like a thirteen year old girl wrote it after getting some ideas from her mother's old Harlequins, and then self- published it without anyone even resembling an editor looking over it.
I mean, kudos to the author for actually writing a story and going through the whole process. I'm just saying, this story needed a LOT more work before it even thought about being published.
Not to mention that nothing *happens* in this book.
From the way it ended, I'm guessing there will be a sequel...yeah, also guessing I prrrrobably won't be reading that one.
