CROSSING LINES - Gabe Quinn Thriller Series, Book 2

One man wants revenge ...
One man wants to even the score...
Only one will succeed ...

"Celebrity Cop" Gabe Quinn has quit the LAPD and is chasing his demons pro bono - determined to catch or kill the two serial killers responsible for ruining his life.

But when a mutilated body is washed up on a picturesque Florida beach it marks the beginning of the end for Gabe and his sanity. Nothing is quite what it seems and never will be again. What follows is an explosive game of cat and mouse and a death race to save a woman's life from the hands of a madman. But this is no ordinary kidnapper. This is Gabe's nemesis - the murderer of his wife, the monster responsible for killing Hope: The Maestro. And he has returned with an old score to settle. One that will force Gabe to cross every line he has ever made, begging the question ...

'How far would you go to protect your children?'

AUTHOR NOTE: The events in this book follow on from those in KILLING HOPE, the first in the Gabe Quinn Thrillers series. Although CROSSING LINES can be read as a standalone, to get the most out of the ongoing back story, I recommend reading KILLING HOPE first before enjoying this book, so that events have a fuller meaning and the sub-plots make more sense, followed by the third book TAKING LIBERTY to round things off.

Another enthralling and complex plot for Gabe Quinn, but it really seemed like the second episode of the same book as the two serial killers he failed to catch in Book 1 are the key part of the story. On to Episode 3!

I think I liked this one better than the first one, but I really enjoyed both of them. This does pick up after the 1st book, but it could be read alone, as well. I really like the author's writing style. It moves along, but is full and thoughtful. I often find myself rereading lines, because they are are funny or remind me of something I've experienced or believed. The plot of this novel is tangled and complicated. I liked the ending of this one ... another surprise that caused me to review the characters and happenings to see why I had missed the clues. I will keep Keith Houghton as a "must read" from now on.

Next!
I didn't think this would be able top Mr. Houghtons debut outing with Gabe Quinn. I was mistaken. Big time.
I got into this a lot easier than the first - I put this down to me really really liking Gabe - and the book just fizzed through to another brilliantly constructed climax. I absolutely loved the ending and how we are all set up very nicely for future entries.
Keith has a writing style I find very easy to digest and I just find myself going page after page with no real let up in quality. There aren't many writers who have me go book to book, and I can safely say I have found an author and character who I will definitely be investing my time with. Well done Keith.
Roll on book 3....................

Gabe Quinn is back but now he is hiding out from his past in Florida. Unfortunately, murder seems to follow the Celebrity Cop wherever he tries to run. Gabe is pulled into a new murder and soon after, he is called back to help the FBI try to capture his wife’s killer, the Maestro. As with Houghton’s first book, there are twists and turns that will make your head spin, but they all are choreographed so well that they come together at the end to make perfect sense. Again, the ending is one you will never see coming and there are surprises until the very last page. A little slow to get into, but once the action starts, things start happening so fast you will not be able to put it down. The ending definitely left me wanting more.

Oh my gosh!!! Keith did it again....I just finished this book, and I'm going through a whirlwind of emotions ...shock, anger, sadness, disbelief, and yet have a sense of relief and happiness also. Once again I was completely surprised with the several turns of events that took place, especially in the second half. If you have read Killing Hope, this is definitely a must read....and if you haven't, this is still a must read!! I can't wait for the next Gabe Quinn thriller!!!

After reading Killing Hope, I was really looking forward to the next Gabe Quinn, he is now joining the ranks of my favourite Cops and PI type characters I love to read about. In Crossing Lines there was a lot going on, I spent parts of it on the edge of my seat, I was worried, alarmed, shocked, concerned even amused and enjoyed all of it! Looking forward to Gabe Quinn #3 ;) ;)

What a great read this book was I would recommend it wholeheartedly, first grab the first book “Killing Hope” which starts the story of our sort of hero Detective then read this follow up. Well written and difficult to put down I will be looking out for the next book from this author.

I couldn't put this book down. Kept me wondering who done it the entire book, which is unusual, (My husband swears I read ahead to find out who is the culprit. :)) This second book is even better than the first. One of my new favorite authors!

It looks like I'm on my lonesome on this one as everyone else seems to have loved it. I don't know, I really enjoyed the previous book but this...apart from being totally far-fetched (like how many Maestros are there), some really lame dialogue in places and a really obvious "twist" it was OK.

This book was hard to put down. So many twists and turns, just when I thought I had everything figured out, I get thrown in another direction completely.

Can't wait for the next book!

A rare treat in which the sequel outshines the original-- and the original was great as well.

Once again, a good book by Keith Houghton. Twists and turns that you don't expect! A bit graphic, so be careful if you are squeamish. But I definitely recommend.

It follows on from 'Killing Hope', but I'm afraid I did not enjoy it as much. Still a good read, but you really have to suspend belief at times. Gabe Quinn is clearly indestructible; also quite why he is not suspended from duty early on is unfathomable. There are also a couple of events in the book that are just unbelievable. In fact, the author begins the description of one of the events with the word 'unbelievably' - you're not wrong there, Mr H! I haven't been more specific, because I don't want to spoil the story for anyone.
Nevertheless, I shall be reading the final instalment, then leave Mr Quinn to it. Perhaps someone manages to kill him. in the next book. Doubt it.
Expertly crafted narrative, and fast paced.

Great thriller - must read!

Keith Houghton’s “Crossing Lines” is a great read. He has managed to create a character who draws you in to his story in such a strong way that you begin to feel like you’re actually a part of the story! The protagonist’s pain becomes your pain; his struggles - yours. I am truly looking forward to Book 3 of The Gabe Quinn Series, to see what adventures I’m, er, he’s tackling next.

Great read

I really like Gabe, great character. This book was a little slow in spots but more than made up for it at the end. When I thought I had the killer figured out, Keith threw a curve.m Loved it.

Good sequel to the first book. Although I enjoyed the first book more. Still, a good travel companion as it’s fast paced and you can get engrossed in it - to not mind flight delays !

I kept reading to complete the series. I figured out the ending about 1\4 of the way through the book but could tell the author was trying to be suspenseful.
