Through time and travels knowledge is gathered and collected and handed down from father to son in each successive generation, each is driven by one ambition, each cannot rest until their goal is reached, but can their hearts desire ever be achieved? in this first novel from spine tingling suspense stories, author Kizzy Lee, brings to life a darkly entertaining atmosphere filled with strange characters and is chillingly thrilling.
A clockwork life by Kizzy Lee is a short Novella that is truly magnificent. Honestly, my emotions about this read are mixed. It was deeply disturbing at times, like when the little circus master eager to show his dying father his efforts in 'capturing the death moment' tortures an innocent animal.
We follow in silent, terrifying awe the growth of the circus master. As he is set on achieving perfection on his creations, he takes human lives, plays sadistically with his victims, putting them into excruciating pain, bringing them on the verge of madness driven by the unexplainable pain they cannot find solution for. Once the reason is revealed to them it is always too late to go back to salvation. Locked into the desperation of being shakled into a mechanical body, wondering if they can still call themselves 'human' the creation of the circus master linger neither fully dead, nor alive.
The lunatic searches for his pray every chance given, his eyes are always praying to see the littlest detail that will intrigue his thirst and satisfy his need. And when he finds his next pray nothing good will come to the dreadful, unlucky person but a ruthless, horrible death.
This book is deeply disturbing and it will shake your world. The characters are so easily believable, so real that if you narrow your eyes strong enough you can see them come alive from the lines and pages. Author Kizzy Lee is a great new author for me! Her worlds are creative, horrific and so pleasantly dark.
I gave this book 5 our of 5 stars because it pushed me far out of my comfort zone, and yet for me A Clockwork Life was unique experience.
