Great book! the explanations are clear and there are a lot of real-life examples which make it easy to understand and learn by heart.
Very good for people who (like me) have problems with phrasal verbs and idioms.

This is one of the book I wished I knew before living abroad in the UK. I used to have a hard time following a convesation with native British English speakers in my first year, but back then I have always thought my listening skills are the one that is quite poor. I am not at all familiar with conversational British English either (Harry Potter is probably the only British movie I knew I had watched).

It turned out that I am lacking the knowledge on conversational English, which obviously differs from academic English and has lots of expressions, phrasal verbs and idiomatic languages so this book helps me a lot. I've heard most of the words/slangs used by my British friends so all of it is in place now. The structure is a bit weird tho, its not categorized topically, but I like how in almost every example in the book, the author used a word/phrase that has been taught earlier.

Its also provided with an audio and exerciese. Its doing what its said. Practical!

For advanced learners, your grammar is good, you have taken and passed some of the important recognised English exams, you can understand nearly everything but you feel you cannot express yourself in modern, idiomatic English : this is an excellent conversational method with dialogues, exercises and CD.

There are way too many phrase books similar to this one out there. I did not find it useful.
