A friend of mine mentioned to me that her husband wrote a book - which sent me searching for it. I did tell her that if I read it, I would review it and wouldn't be nice just because I knew them. *laughing* So, I bought it... and finished it in just a few days.

As far as content and plot line goes, this is a great story. There's a lot going on and a lot of characters, but the author does a good job of taking us on the journey from Alaska, through Idaho and ultimately to Vegas. I never felt lost or had to think "okay, wait, who was Joe again?". The story itself is well laid out and well thought out.

The best way I can describe it is a light thriller with some quirky comedic values thrown in. It's obvious the author has talent and I enjoyed the story a lot. The inclusion of the float planes and the descriptions of the areas made it a little educational for me as well. I've spent a few days in Cour d'Alene and I think the author did a good job of capturing the area, but I would have liked to see the locations a little more integrated into the story as far as location descriptions go.

As far as the "action" goes, there is a lot of it and the author kind of grabs you and drags you around behind him while he runs from one dramatic scene to another. And I don't mean that as a bad thing either - it's exactly what I expect from a thriller/suspense novel like this. There's no boring "get on with it" scenes going on in here and that's really good.

The bad: It really needs an editor, grammar and content. It could have used a good shaving down in a few spots and a good content editor could have easily fixed this up to be a fabulous book. I won't even get into the cover - it's pretty bad and really, a story as good as this deserves much better, both cover art and editing. It's a shame and I hope the author will consider revising both. There's definitely something here, it just needs some good finessing.

Recommended for thriller readers who like a little quirk with their criminals.
