In this complete first volume of the webseries Thalia's Musings, Thalia the Muse of Comedy and her eight sisters have been ordered by Zeus to leave their home on Mt. Helicon and move to Mt. Parnassus under the governorship of the god Apollo. When Thalia and Apollo raise a cursed nymph from the dead, Thalia starts to wonder if the Muses have greater powers than anyone realized. The Fates, threatened by this possibility, put her to a test.
But Thalia cares less about the Fates’ games than the behind-the-scenes drama of the Olympian royal court. Why did Apollo kill the Cyclops, Zeus’ minion? Why did Zeus give Apollo such a light sentence? And with the Cyclops dead, who will resupply Zeus’ lightning bolts when they run out? Will Hera then make her move for Zeus’ throne, or will she be too busy torturing his latest paramour? And what will happen to the Muses when said paramour is one of them?

A refreshingly witty take on the story of Thalia and the 9 muses of Greek mythology. Ever wondered what really happens on Mount Olympus? Look no further than this ambitious, fun mythological saga which includes all of your favourite Greek gods as well as the odd mortal! A mythological masterpiece!
I'll write a proper review next time but all I can say this is such a fun & light yet still deep book! It was a fantastic surprise as I'm really selective. A Snag in the Tapestry has gotten all the way to the amongst the top of my favourite's list. A definite must read!
Thalia's Musings is an excellent series told from the point of view of Thalia, the Muse of Comedy.
The story is full of wit, as is befitting a story told by the Muse of Comedy, but is also evocative of other emotions as well. The characters may be divine but they're so relatable.
And, finally, someone actually gets the villain right, thank goodness!
Do give this story a read and don't stop with the first book!
I read this book back when I was in college and it was the FUNNIEST, realest take on the Greek Myths. As a huge mythology buff I loved Amethyst Marie's vision of the pantheon. I would say this book and its sequels are a must-read for anyone who likes Greek Mythology and can admit that the gods are a little crazy 100% of the time.
A friend recommended this series to me. I thought it was well written and made me laugh on multiple occasions. The writing style made the gods and goddesses feel relatable. It was obvious the author loves mythology but was also able to add their own ideas to the story.
This book is hilarious! It feels like a sitcom inside Mount Olympus; sort of like Percy Jackson but with more mature subject matter and less reverence (if that's possible). Thalia as the Muse of Comedy is a brilliant narrator and her relationship with Apollo is top-notch. The only, very minor, nitpick I had was that the rest of the Muses, besides Calliope and Thalia, didn't get a whole lot of characterization, but I understand that seven extra characters is a lot to focus on. Overall, another awesome look at Greek mythology that might make you learn something along the way.
