The Thief Who Stole Midnight

Rate this book
Mike and Maddie, a young couple with a new baby, are rushing home to prepare for their first family New Year's Eve party. When they arrive, however, they're shocked to find their apartment has been robbed. Even worse, the burglar is still there -- sound asleep on their bed!

But it's New Year's in Chicago, which means that they're on a wait list for the cops and Maddie's anti-Chicago, pro-suburbs family is due to arrive any minute. So Mike and Maddie tie up the burglar and hide him in their room, hoping to fake their way through the party until midnight.

When Mike's born-again Wiccan grandmother unexpectedly shows up with her new boy-toy husband, things go from weird to wacky. Then, when the cops arrive right before midnight and arrest Mike and Maddie for unlawful detainment and kidnapping, things go from wacky to worse.

Soon, Mike, Maddie and Maddie's best friend, Rio, are down at the police station, each pleading their view of events, about the New Year's Eve party that none of them will ever forget.

Quick, lighthearted read

Lighthearted, even bizarre story about a bumbling thief, and his victims. One begins to wonder who bungled the situation most, burglar or the victims?

Not funny

This would have Been funny if it wasn't full of racist and sexist jokes and comments. So much potential ruined.

Cute

Cute. I got a little flustered with the story at some points. I love Maddie ands all the stuff she gets into. I wasn't expecting this story to go the way it did. There are some really funny parts. I wold recommend this story as a follow through to the next one. And belive it can be read alone.

If you are looking for a light fun read then download "The Thief Who Stole Midnight"! It is the story of a young couple who are new parents of a three month old and who get a much needed break to sneak off to their favorite pizzeria for a quick dinner before they have to set up for their New Year's Eve party. When they return home they find that their apartment was broken into and that is where the fun begins. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone and also Christiana Miller's other books.

Short and sweet

A quick read that had a little of everything. A loving couple, bickering in-laws, horny best friends, and a farting dog. Funny, sweet and quick. If you have an hour or so give this one a chance. The authors other books are worth a read also. I'm looking forward to reading more from her.

If you like movies that are full of humorous chaos, or that are the equivalent of a French farce, you will really enjoy this book. It is short and sweet, but full of characters and situations that will drive you nuts. You'll be glad they aren't your own family.

A fun read.

Bravo!

Great, laugh-out-loud funny! The whole time I was reading it, I kept thinking that it should be fleshed out and be made into a movie! I laughed when I read that it was initially written as a TV show pilot! Make the movie!<3

Wacky and wonderful.

The scenes in this crazy adventure would make any sitcom sunshine shine. I love the characters. I love the relationships and I loved the scenes. This book was completely bizarre and completely believable. Thanks to the author for a delightful read.

This was such a fun read that I could not put it down until I finished it. Christiana Miller's witty, acerbic prose made this such a delight to read.

A zany, door-slamming farce you wouldn't think could exist on paper. A couple's New Year's Eve plans go awry and they hustle to keep up appearances in the face of family, friends and narcolepsy.
