Freshman year of college isn't easy. But with a friend like Libby Patterson, it is unforgettable.
Libby is honest and fearless and adorable. She's the girl on campus that everyone knows. The life of every party. Infectious and addictive, Libby captivates all those around her. Particularly her roommate Honor and their boy bestie Toby.
But three isn't always a magic number. And there's more to this trio than what everyone sees.
When Honor finds herself falling for an artist, and Libby doesn’t approve, and Toby finds himself watching Libby more than he should...the sides of their circle become strained.
The three are suddenly stretched between friendship, love and taking sides. They must fight to hold on to each other. But the tighter the hold, the harder it gets. Especially when Libby's unpredictability turns dangerous. Now it's up to Honor and Toby to save her from the downward spiral that could break their circle for good.

I got to write a girl named Honor, who may or may not have dealings w/ a lingerie catalog, who falls for a hot painter. I think I can finish here.
But I've always wanted to write a story about a group of three tight friends their freshman year of college, and so has Janna, so we did it together :-D
Two love stories. Tight friendships. And a girl we love and then hate and then love.
This was a great story about the college experience, friendship, self-discovery, and first love! I enjoyed 3 Sides to a Circle immensely, and devoured this story in one sitting! The main characters in the story are Honor, Libby, Toby, and to a certain extent Sawyer. Honor and Libby are assigned to the same dorm room their freshman year of college. They hit it off fairly quickly, and Toby becomes an equally close part of their circle. The story is told from dual point of views, Honor's and Toby's.
There were so many awesome aspects to this story! My favorite aspect of 3 Sides to a Circle was the character development. Honor, Libby, and Toby were complex characters with an authentic feel to them. They were realistic, had very unique personalities, and I connected, and became attached to each and every one of them. The character growth that took place with Honor, Libby, and Toby from the beginning, to the end of the story was immense and beautiful! Honor was gorgeous, and intelligent. Yet, she was very insecure about herself, was scared of taking chances, and going after what she wanted in life. Libby was the life of the party, and appeared confident on the outside, but lived in fear that those she cared about most would leave her, because she was too intense. She lived her life without thinking of the consequences to her actions, and had extreme mood swings that were difficult for Honor and Toby to handle, but they stuck by her side, because they loved her. Toby was timid, had a big heart, nerdy, and didn't have any passion in his life. He didn't take risks, or go after what he wanted. He was more concerned with making the "right decision," instead of following his passion. All three of these characters helped one another through some really tough life experiences, and little by little they grew from each other's influence. Honor became more confident, assertive, and self-assured. Libby learned how to be more responsible, and that she was responsible for her own stability. Toby learned to follow his passions, and not live his life in fear.
Another aspect that I loved of this story was the plot. It was intense, had depth, and kept me on my toes! Honor, Libby, and Toby each had turmoil and difficult circumstances in their lives that they had to overcome, and learn from. There was never a dull moment in this story, and I enjoyed anticipating what would happen next.
A third aspect of the story that I enjoyed was the way it was told. The story was fast-paced, easy to read, and I easily visualized every scene, and felt like I was a part of this story, and Honor, Libby, and Toby were my friends. Sawyer was Honor's love interest, and let me tell you, he was very swoon-worthy! Sawyer was a sensitive, intelligent, and compassionate artist. He really cared deeply about Honor, but had conflict within himself because he was in love with Honor, and felt that she didn't care about him, as much as he cared about her. The scenes between Sawyer and Honor were pretty steamy, intense, and felt very real.
Ms. Perry, and Ms. Watts make an excellent writing team! I would recommend 3 Sides to a Circle to readers that love the New Adult Genre, reading about the college experience, friendship, self-discovery, and first love!
I give 3 Sides to a Circle 4 fun, flirty, and full of depth, dazzling Stars! If you enjoyed books such as The Coincidence of Callie, and Kayden, Slammed, Point of Retreat, and Beautiful Disaster, you will enjoy this story! After you read it, be sure to tell me what you think! : For more reviews visit A Bookish Escape at Http://www.abookishescape.com
This is a special book. I love stories about the bonds of friendship and the strains on them. 3 Sides to a Circle does a great job pulling you into their friendship. Plus, both boys are just adorable.
I really wanted to like this one more than I did, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
When Honor goes off to college, she's extremely shy and scared of unknown. When she meets her roommate, Libby, everything changes. Libby is everything Honor isn't. Outgoing, loud, impulsive...and soon Honor finds herself swept up in the whirlwind of Libby. Also caught in the Libby wind - Toby - the boy next door (literally) and the three of them become inseparable. But as time passes, people grow and as Honor seems to be coming into her own, Libby grows more erratic to the point of endangering herself and others.
I had a lot of issues with this book. I wasn't connected to the characters at all. It could have been a great story but I felt a lack of emotion in the writing. It was very dialogue heavy and not so focused on the feelings and everything else going on. Because of this, it was hard to relate to them or even get a real feel of who they were. I only know what we were told about them. Another thing that was hard to grasp was their friendship. They meet and then the next chapter they are all best friends. It really didn't make sense.
The last few chapters were definitely the heart of the book, but it shouldn't take until page 270 of a 300 page book for the story to have feeling. It was pretty obvious to me right away what was going on with Libby. But yet, I still didn't like her. I blame this on her portrayal. All in all, the characters just needed more depth. Everything was very superficial. But it did make for a quick read and I know many people who really loved this one. So it wasn't for me completely, but it must be for other people.
This is my first book by Jolene Perry, and I know I should have read some of her books sooner, but since I liked this one, I think I will be getting to her other books pretty soon. I have never heard of Jenna Watts so it was nice to read a book they have written together.
This is a story about 3 students who met their first year in college, Honor, Libby and Toby. Soon they become great friends and even though they are all very different they stick together. But after a while Honor meets Sawyer, the painter guy, Libby starts acting more crazy than usual and Toby finds himself with feelings for Libby. Is their friendship strong enough to overcome all of the obstacles?
3 Sides to a Circle is written in two POVs. We have Honor and Toby, and while I really enjoyed reading from both Honor and Toby's perspective, I did miss Libby. Libby was this crazy and funny girl who had such a crazy ideas and mood changes and while I figured her out pretty quickly, I missed seeing things from her perspective. Having to figure her out from Honor and Toby's POV probably changed my opinion about her a little and I ended up not liking her as much as I would have wanted.
Toby was a nerdy guy, quite shy but I liked him. I was really sad for what happened to him because he didn't deserve any of it. The character I liked the most is Honor. She was a model, very beautiful, but she was also very shy and unaware or her beauty. I was happy when she met Sawyer and I think they were great together. Sawyer was nice and actually the most relatable character in this book.
The main part of this book is their friendship. I must admit, I did not always get the connection they had, but I think that's actually the point, not to get it completely. With Libby and her craziness, it was hard to have a normal relationship but she did work hard for their friendship and she was the one who brought them all together.
Overall, I enjoyed 3 Sides to a Circle and if you're looking for a YA/NA book, this would be a great book for you to read. As I already said earlier in this review, I look forward to reading some other Jolene Perry's books.
3 Sides to a Circle is a heartwarming story about love and friendship. The portrayal of the characters is excellent. They make me want to become ‘best friends’ with them. This book brings me back to my college days where I had a roommate who was the polar opposite of me and we managed to build a friendship and had the most fun. As with anything that Jolene Perry writes (this time she has teamed up with Janna Watts), the story is flawless. I got pulled in and I couldn’t sleep until I knew how the story was going to unfold. Toby and Sawyer can be my book boyfriends. You cannot help but love them! There is tension, humor, and resolution. Libby, oh Libby – she is on a league of her own! Honor is a special heroine. Sometimes, I got upset with her but I understood her. If you are looking for a great read – funny, angsty, and filled with the right amount of romance – I highly recommend this book. It’s a refreshing read. The friendships that we form in college, the love that might blossom in college – these things may last a lifetime. I loved, loved this book!
MY REVIEW I received a free copy of this e-book from the Author via YA Bound Blog Tours as I am also part of the blog tour too! So the cover shows a boy and girl, both laughing and looking very happy. Mmm it does fit the book, but there are actually three friends in the book, so maybe there could/should have been three on the cover? Although I think the cover is okay, would it have attracted me in a bookstore? Truthfully I'm not sure...I mean personally I would have had the title at the top of the book and the authors names where the title is now and I do think the font is too thin and maybe immature for the actual book. Now to the actual book, I have read what I consider many books now by Jolene Perry so I immediately thought "this is going to be an easy read and review I'm going to love it beginning t end" sadly I didn't. I found the book more difficult to get into and it took me longer to get warmed up to than the other titles I've read by Jolene Perry. Once I got into the book however, I was hooked. . . .I wanted to ask lots of questions, (which is always good when reading isn't it?) Were all my questions answered within the book? Yes they were. I did have niggles about the character of Libby from early on in the book guessing the reason why she was the person she was and why she acted like she did. I enjoyed the relationships developing between the three main characters of Libby, Honor and the guy in the trio Toby. You see Toby is really in awe of the two girls and you wonder will he fall for one or both and how will that affect the trio... Then along strolls "the painter" who has quite deep feelings for Honor. Will he be included in the group or will Honor be cast out? Each of the main characters have their own issues to overcome both in their home life, and at college. I ended up liking the whole book, but I would say I really enjoyed the last two thirds of the book the most. Did I enjoy the book? Once I warmed up to it yes. Would I recommend the book? Yes, it is a good read, just be prepared to stick with it until it warms up. I would be interested to know who wrote which parts of the book. When books are co-written I am always interested in how the process works. Would I read more by Jolene Perry? Yes I already have. Would I read more by Janna Watts? I would certainly give books by her a look.
A cute little college based read. All of the characters were lovable and interesting. I loved Toby's chapters, he is so sweet and caring. I think this was more of a YA read than NA.. because I didn't feel enough of a spark between the two couples. I also felt a bit crazy myself reading about the three and their friendship. I couldn't understand why anyone would put up with one minute of Libby's crap. In the end, you better understand their dynamic and why things were the way they were. This book reminded me of Threesome (mentioned in the book) and Girl Interrupted. I think with more character interactions and feelings this book could be awesome, but like it is was a great short read.
This is one of those books that makes you laugh, but breaks your heart all at once. I loved the "three sides". I want to marry Toby, but I'm not sure how hubby would feel about that ;) And Honor is someone I think that may represent almost all girls who look at themselves and never feel pretty enough, even when they are smokin' hot. And Libby is the girl I wish I could be sometimes. Just let loose and not think about what other people think. They really are the perfect circle, completing each other when they need one another most :)
Honor heads off to college and finds her new roommate Lippy a little over the top. For Honor who is kind of shy it helps bring her out of it. Toby kind of falls in with them and they become tight. For me this book didn't do it for me. I couldn't stand Libby and Honor and Toby gave up any say on anything just to make her happy. In the end nothing could do that but her meds. I didn't understand why Toby had to suffer a hate crime and yet nothing was done about. Why write it into the story and have no consequences to whoever did it. It didn't add to the story in any way in my opinion.
This was a moving read about a very serious topic, and I was relieved to get to the end of it without the potential 'terrible ending' happening that could easily have happened (you'll know what I mean, I think, if you've read it). The story was about a strong friendship between three strangers who meet when they enrol in college, and who are irrevocably bound together from that moment on.
When Honor walks into her dorm room in her freshman year in college the last thing she expects to see is her roommate balancing on the furniture while painting the ceiling. The room is chaotic, and Honor, who is reserved and quiet, wonders what in the world have she has gotten herself into. Libby Patterson is one of a kind with her purple hair and outgoing personality. She's not afraid of anything or anyone, says what she thinks, does what she wants, and manages to make everyone around her fall in love with her. Little does Honor know, Libby is just what she needs to help her break out of her shell. Honor is beautiful, even does modeling, but she is also very shy, sometimes coming across as snobby because of it. When Libby and Honor run into Toby outside of their dorm room one day, an immediate friendship is formed. Toby is looking to move out of his dorm room because his roommate "stinks," literally, as in "does not bathe." Libby takes it upon herself to "help" him with his problem, and she, Honor, and Toby proceed to his old room and Libby tells Toby's rommate exactly what the problem is, nothing withheld, in only the way that she can get away with. Toby is very quiet, has a nerdy quality but pulls it off in a good way, rather attractive, and wonders how in the world he got in the middle of this 3-sided circle with these two beautiful and totally hot girls, yet wouldn't want to be any other place.
These three form a friendship that is unique and sometimes a little strange, especially to outsiders, with Libby being the center of it and the glue that holds it together. When Toby gets hurt really bad, Libby even moves him into their dorm room to take care of him. It kind of reminds me of that old show "Three's Company." Honor meets this really hot, sweet, and almost to good to be true painter, Sawyer, and ends up falling for him hard. Sawyer is crazy about Honor two, but her friendship with Libby and Toby bothers him, a lot, and soon Honor finds herself having to decide how much Sawyer means to her and what place he holds in her life, or risk losing him. Meanwhile, Libby's behavior is getting more erratic, Toby must face the fact that his feelings for Libby go further than friendship, and Honor has to deal with the fact that her friends have found out she is a model, with a possible job that could mean big changes for her, them, and their circle. When things with Libby get totally out of hand and the truth behind what is really going on with her is revealed, will these friends be brought closer together or torn apart forever as a result of it.
I enjoyed 3 Sides to a Circle. Jolene Perry and Jana Watts did a great job of addressing the issue of mental illness, how it affects not only the person who has it, but how it affects those around them. Too many times, unless you have a friend or loved one who suffers from some type of mental illness, I thinks many people see the illness and not the person, at least not as a real person, separate from their illness. It is obvious that Libby has something going on from the beginning, or at least it was to me, but you really got to know her, love her, and connect with her as a person, separate from her illness, and it gives you a whole different perspective on the whole issue. The friendship between these there was endearing, and a little weird at times, but that is the way it was meant to come across. I enjoyed seeing what these three got themselves into and what they had to get themselves out of, as they discover things about themselves, each other, and what they really want for their lives and their futures. I enjoyed the romantic aspect of the book also, and it ends really with, with an epilogue, which is something I really like, and which brings everything together. If you are a contemporary romance fan then 3 Sides to a Circle is something you may want to check out.
Honor is a gorgeous model but she is shy. She was judged for modeling so she wanted a fresh start in college. Her roommate Libby is her opposite. Loud, open, honest, easy going, and wants to move every piece of furniture in their dorm room daily. They run into Toby in the hallway one day and they become an inseparable threesome. The story alternates between Honor and Toby's POV.
Honor was a sweet girl that I really liked. She is pretty but shy and also really wants to be liked for herself and not her looks. Past boyfriends have been all about her looks so she is keeping the modeling hidden so that people will see her differently. Honor meets Sawyer, a painter who wants to paint her. Afraid he only likes her for her beauty she pulls back. She is scared but Libby helps break her out of her shell and take chances.
Libby is exhausting to read about. She is fun and honest at times but she also takes it a bit far. I felt like she was purposely pushing people too much and making them uncomfortable on purpose. I'm all for trying new things but I think at times she just wanted to get a rise out of people. She also came across a bit selfish and unsupportive. She was so worried Honor would move away to become a famous model that she didn't really give Honor a lot of support in that area. Some of Libby's issues eventually come to light which makes her actions more understandable.
Toby was a sweet and geeky guy. I loved their circle of friends. Toby did think both girls were hot but it never felt like a love triangle. Honor wanted Sawyer and Toby wanted Libby. Libby was kind of wild so I was never sure who she really wanted. I wasn't a huge fan of the romances. I had originally wanted Honor and Toby together. LOL But the book is more about their circle of friendship which was different. At times I did feel like maybe it was holding them back. They had a lot of jealously between them. Not in the romantic way but in the way that they didn't want anything to come between the three of them. They all have to eventually make new friends, venture out on new jobs, and fall in love. The circle had to realize they could still have each other and have other things. An unique look at friendship and college.
--- "So yeah, I'm the asshole cliche of being stuck in a love triangle that only exists in my mind."
"What? Falling in love? It's what people do, Libby. And yeah, sometimes it ends up in heartbreak, but you know, sometimes it doesn't." She shakes her head back and forth. "It always does. Look at me. In love with my two best friends and I know I'm going to end up broken-hearted. Because people leave me. I'm too much for everyone. I have too much love and too much heart, and people suffocate and pull away. That's what Honor's doing. That's what you'll do." ---

When one goes away to college and doesn't know anyone, life can be lonely. 3 Sides To A Circle explores this loneliness as freshman Honor meets her new roommate, Libby, and Toby, a guy from their dorm. The three become fast friends. Honor is the quiet, uptight pretty girl, withdrawn from her experiences as a model and not wanting to be objectified. Libby is a free spirit, zany, loud, fun and intense. Toby looks like a cute nerd and hides behind a business major he doesn't want. Their first semester is a roller coaster ride of new friendships, unrequited feelings, blossoming romance and life on campus.
Behind the usual turmoil and changes of adjusting to life on one's own as college students, Honor and Toby have to adjust to life with Libby. They notice she has good days and then there are the bad ones. Yet, they don't really complain since Libby draws them out of themselves and they have fun with her. Until Honor meets Sawyer, a senior and painter. They hit it off and he treats her differently from other guys who like her for her looks. Sawyer doesn't 'get' her relationship with Libby and Toby and after the trio gets into trouble, Sawyer distances himself from Honor. For this quiet girl, his absence begins to change her, just as Libby's friendship has.
3 Sides To A Circle is sweet, funny, and touches upon some of the basic things college students go through their first year away from home. Both Honor and Toby break out of their comfort spots as Libby pushes them to live more. As they become stronger in their choices, wants and needs, Libby begins to fall apart and it's up to her friends to figure out exactly what is going on. Told from the first person point-of-view of both Honor and Toby, we gather a fuller understanding of their first semester together. Toby was particularly funny, especially when it came to his thoughts on sex and his two best female friends. I liked how both he and Honor flirted with the idea of maybe liking each other in the beginning before their feelings settled.
I would have liked to see a bit more depth to the friends and to see Sawyer developed a bit more. They seemed kind of flat at times. I understood Honor and Toby were like magnets drawn to the exuberant yet unstable Libby, but I wondered why they didn't try to make friends with other students and not let Libby capitalize on their time so much. I did not connect to any of them. There wasn't much romance and I wanted to see that part of Sawyer and Honor's relationship (there was the scene in his bedroom). The ending, though predictable, explained what was going on and I thought the epilogue tied everything up for the foursome a bit too tidy. (http://www.readergirlsblog.com/2013/0...)
3 Sides of a Circle is an amazing story of three college freshman that happen to find each other and become best friends.
The story is told from the first person point of view, alternating between Honor and Toby. I always enjoy this format because it allows for a better insight of the characters. Honor is very uptight, uncomfortable around people and with the way they react to her looks. She has been a model for years and is conscious of how people treat her after that fact is known. Toby is a shy, mildly nerdy and an awesome guy. He falls by accident in the tornado that is Libby and he quickly learns to care for both girls deeply. It was very easy to guess what was wrong with Libby and I wasn’t surprised at all.
Now, on to Sawyer. Sawyer is an artist and Honor’s ‘painter’; he is handsome, talented and very… intense. That’s the best word I can find to describe him. He is a great guy, but a bit scary if I want to be honest. Other characters are minor and not explored nearly as much as Sawyer and our circle of friends.
The plot is easy to follow and original. The story deals with intense feelings and delicate topics, such as mental illness, homosexuality, and hate crimes, but it’s not preachy. The writing was clean and eloquent and I’m curious to know who the writing partnership worked. The book starts very funny and progresses to be ‘jumpy’ and erratic, to match Libby’s behavior and the feelings that it provokes in Toby and Honor.
There were two things that I didn’t find believable. The first one was that no one figured out that something was seriously wrong with Libby. I mean, no teachers (and I doubt that she was getting good grades), if I were her mom I would be visiting at least twice a month. The second one was that Libby, Toby and Honor became such good friends, to the point that they were almost dependent of each other very quickly; the main part of the story takes place in a span of about three months. Please note that the story contains language and sexual references.
Overall, 3 Sides to a Circle was a great read and I will definitely look for more books about these authors.
Quotes for you:
“You didn’t even have to tell me the room number. Just follow the nose, it always knows!” she sings… “…We’ve come to move Toby out, because you smell like… Body odor just doesn’t cover it.” Libby shakes her head and step inside.”
“I’d do almost anything for Toby or Libby – even though she makes me crazy. But what does that make the three of us? Odd parts of a circle?” – Honor
“I’ll make myself worth keeping. I’ll be the anchor for you” – Toby
So, I love the title. I know circles don’t have sides, but I think 3 Sides to a Circle totally works given the situation that our three characters are in. Honor, Libby, and Toby meet on their first day of college, and become almost inseparable. However, things start to get a little weird in their circle. No, there’s no crazy, wild, threesome between them. In fact, I should mention that for those of you who complain that New Adult is just sexed up Young Adult, this one does not fit that description. Yes, there are mentions of sex, but the focus is on this unstable friendship.
Honor is very uptight. She’s a model, but she doesn’t want that to follow her to her new college life. It’s also made her quite self-conscious. She knows she’s pretty, but it worries her that all people see is a pretty face. Luckily, that’s not the case with Libby and Toby. Or with Sawyer, the sexy painter she starts dating.
Toby is so sweet! I adored him from his very first chapter! I loved how he was written honestly, and we get a glimpse into the male mind. I couldn’t help but smile or laugh whenever he started to have inappropriate thoughts about his two gal pals despite trying hard not to.
Libby, Libby, Libby. I was a little disappointed that she doesn’t get to narrate, but after getting to know her, I don’t think I could handle her interior monologues. That sounds kind of me. I loved Libby as a character, but she has such a hug personality, that she already steals every scene she’s in. We don’t really need her perspective added to the mix. She’s very vocal about her feelings, so it’s not like we need to get into her mind much.
The plot is very character driven being a Contemporary novel. It’s by no means slow or boring though! We get to know each of these characters to their core, and under the seemingly happy surface of their friendship, it’s obvious that something is not right. I had also figured out Libby’s secret on page one, so it was a little frustrating how it took Honor and Toby so long to realize it.
I really enjoyed 3 Sides to a Circle. The characters felt very real and not cliche. Even though I couldn’t personally relate to each of their individual struggles, I was still cheering each of them on. It’s a pretty short novel, so it didn’t go as deep into the main issue as I would have liked, but I think the authors did an amazing job with it in the pages that are there.
I liked it. But I totally got a single white female vibe there for a while.
Honor is starting college and she's incredible gorgeous, and acts incredibly shy. Not only is she a college student, she's also a model. Libby is her outgoing purple haired hyped up roommate. They are so opposite of each other. Libby is so outgoing, everyone knows her and she is the life at any party. Rounding out this circle is Toby. Shy, quiet, kinda nerdy. I think toby had an almost constant hard on being with these two girls. Then we have Sawyer, a junior and talented artist with a genuine heart. Who has his sighs set on Honor.
The friendship starts out good with the three amigos. Seems fun. Libby is very wild and carefree which is refreshing to both Honor and Toby. But as the story goes on, Libby was also very dark and disturbing, hence my reference to single white female. Remember that movie? Libby is all over the place, and you get an idea what may be going on with her. She begins being a good influence on Honor. Getting her to come out of her shyness. She has this thing where she "freezes" up in front of guys which is a huge turnoff. With Libby's and Toby's help, she gets comfortable and has more fun. She's really finding herself. Toby is having a hard time being so attracted to one of his best friends. Honor is taken with Sawyer but holds back from him. She's really weird about being "pretty". It almost made me uncomfortable. At first Libby helps honor come out of her shell with Sawyer, then she gets totally jealous and tries to ruin it. Sawyer can't handle all that goes on with those three. Toby was a chicken shit and enabler. Honor was a coward and enabler. Sawyer was just plain awesome and the only smart one of the bunch. Libby was spiraling out if control and it was unpredictable.
The hurricane that was Libby finally becomes dangerous and Honor realizes its too much for her. Toby wants to be the savior and sawyer wants no part of all the drama. Libby does something that almost destroys them all. That circle became very toxic. Toby and Honor stand by their friend and help her through the darkness and their circle is not only healed but healthy. Honor realizes what she really wants to do and makes it happen. Toby stopped hiding his feelings and Sawyer is still awesome.
When I read the blurb about this book I thought that it was going to involve a love triangle. But once I started reading it become somewhat deeper. It is a story about 3 completely different people with unique personalities who form a friendship that is hard to break. They have moved to a new town, away from their families to start their first year of college.
Honor is an only child, she is beautiful and smart, but she is quite reserved. She almost goes into shock on meeting her roommate, Libby as they are definite opposites. Libby is bubbly, crazy and never holds back. She speaks her mind and is very popular on campus. Honor and Libby stumble into Toby as he is checking out his apartment across the hall from the girls and Libby immediately takes him under her wing. Their friendships become strong and no matter what gets thrown at them, they seem to be able to help each other through everything.
Libby is a bit overwhelming at times and there were plenty of times that I would’ve kicked that friendship to the curb, but Honor is not the type of person to do that to someone who has helped her so much. Libby is the one person who brings out the true nature of her friends, but is closed off about herself. Toby is a quiet nerdy boy, but he is still a guy and has those naughty thoughts about girls (especially when Libby locks Honor in a kiss…), but when he is with the girls another side of him emerges. When this trio get together you know something wild is going to go down!!
I enjoyed this book and it had so much emotion rolled into the story; gut wrenching sadness, laugh-out-loud happiness, friendship, love and dishonesty. All of the characters need to overcome their fears and make a lot of life changing decisions during their first year of college. Their relationships often become strained but in the end they know that they are always there for one another. The alternating POV’s between Honor and Toby were well written and I’m happy we didn’t see into Libby’s mind, because that would’ve been crazy! The authors have written an amazing book and I look forward to any future books they may write together!
I received a copy of this book from the authors in exchange for an honest review.
First I have to say that I loved this story! I love stories about best friends and the changes they go through. I have two very close friends and one is a guy and one is a girl. We grew up together and sheared everything together and there isn't anything I would not do for the two of them. I just want to give a HUGE thank you to YA Bound for allowing me to be a part of this tour. Great fun read and I have never laughed and yelled at a book so bad because the ups and downs were incredible!
Three friends in college Libby, Toby, and Honor meet when they get to college and become inseparable. Honor wanted to start a new life far away from the prying eyes of agents and modeling. So starting college where no one knows her is the first big step in starting a new life. Toby is a doll and he just loves both girls and wants to be friends with them. Toby eventually starts to have romantic feelings for Libby but does not want to wreck their friendship. Libby is the wild card here and I loved her because she is a spunky, snarky, crazy girl that says things that are sometimes inappropriate and does things that can be considered rude and underhanded but it is with the best intentions.
So what do you do when your best friend falls in love with someone you don't like or approve of? Well this is what Honor has to decide because Sawyer who is an artist and also in real love with Honor comes into the picture and threatens to come between the trio sets Libby on fire. She says some not so nice things to Libby about Sawyer but in the end Honor will have to decide if being with Sawyer is worth the crap storm that is brewing between her and Libby. Then you have the new love of my life Toby who loves Libby and wants to be more than friends and no he does not want friends with benefits but a real relationship with Libby. What do you think will happen there?
This is a must read about love, life and friendship and where life takes you in the most important times of your life. This is a great story!
A review copy was provided for an honest review. 3 Sides to a Circle is surprising in a good way. The powerful connections of friendship forged in college between three very different people made it interesting and fun. Going into reading this I didn't really know how I felt but then as I read on I found myself really enjoying it. It's a quick and genuine read infused with different emotions. It has a lot of realism and wisdom thrown in and I liked that. It centers on three college students discovering who they are and what they want from life.
Honor is a beautiful but shy girl whose far from home, and when she meets her outgoing borderline crazy roommate that all changes. Libby is absolutely carefree and does whatever she feels like doing and people just seem to follow her. It's her nature that draws people to her and and she bridges a close friendship between Honor, herself, and a boy named Toby. Toby is kind of a nerd and is nearly as reserved as Honor. Together they create an unbreakable whirlwind friendship all the while trying to get through being freshmen in college. But their is a lot more to this impulsive circle than they realize when boundaries are crossed.
A great book for some light and easy reading. I loved all of the characters that are introduced. I especially loved Libby-whose enigmatic, adorable, and irresistibly charismatic. The bond that forms between these three strangers is incredibly enthralling. There are many life lessons and messages that can be grasped. One of my favorite is not being afraid to step outside your comfort zone and take some risks. It makes you realize how important friendship is and not to take it for granted. Jolene Perry and Janna Watts does a fantastic job on making the story engaging and creating characters that distinctly stand out. I completely connected with the struggles that they are faced with. 3 Sides to a Circle is heartening, cute, and wholly enjoyable!
This was a cute book about college friendships. I think the authors did a good job of showing how easily you can grow close to roommates and floormates in such a short time when beginning college. Honor, Libby and Toby become like a family within a few short weeks of meeting.
The characters were interesting. Libby was over the top and I kept thinking that I would’ve definitely been requesting a room switch if I ended up with her. Honor was portrayed as her exact opposite, reserved and quiet. By becoming friends with Libby, Honor feels she’s able to break out of her comfort zone and begin a relationship with a painter named Sawyer.
Toby was by far my favorite character and I loved the chapters from his POV. He could be my new nerdy book boyfriend—he was that adorable. I think the authors did an excellent job of making Toby’s inner thoughts and actions sound like a real guy and not what a girl would hope a guy is thinking about.
The relationships were okay enough, I didn’t feel a ton of chemistry between Libby/Toby and Sawyer/Honor. I probably would have preferred a Toby/Honor pairing.
The second half of the book really picks up and delves into some serious issues. There are a few heart-wrenching scenes where I felt myself fighting back tears. The drama kept me reading late into the night.
Overall, a great addition to the New Adult genre and a book I would definitely recommend!
Rating: 4/5 Stars
I received a copy of this book for review through YA Bound Book Tours
No, no me gusto el final, para mi it was ok pero i didn't like it.... Además no comprendo si Libby es básicamente es el quid de la historia ¿por qué no conocemos su POV? 2-0
I'm not sure how I feel about this one. This definitely isn't a typical new adult novel. Watts and Perry explore an area with one of the main characters, Libby, that you don't typically see in New Adult novels. Each character is slightly damaged in their own way but Libby is different from female leads than I'm used to. I figured out about half way through what her issue was so it didn't come as a surprise once it was revealed. I liked it because it explored issues that I don't normally read about in books.
What I didn't like was Toby and Honor's dependence on Libby. It was kind of creepy. Then there was the fact that they let her get away with murder. At certain points, I felt like smacking them upside the head. It was almost like they were afraid of her, and maybe they were. Either way, I wasn't really feeling it.
I also wasn't really feeling Libby. I know she had some major issues. But she honestly seemed like a really big bitch...not to mention manipulative and at times cruel. I would have liked to have seen more of her at the end because I think it may have changed my opinion of her.
If you like the new adult genre and you're looking for a different type of 'romance' then I'd recommend this one.
I initially had a really challenging time trying to rate 3 Sides to a Circle.
This book shook everything – I’d only read Jolene Perry’s paranormal YA books and everything about this was much different.
It’s about a girl falling in love with someone who sees her true colors. A boy finding the strength to peel back his layers. A girl who is good at masking, but not so good at letting people in. And how they all combine. Can they combine? Can they balance each other out? Can they fit?
It’s a story of friendship, love, suffering, and growth.
For me, one of the characters hit a little too deeply to someone I know, and I couldn’t enjoy the book as much for that reason. (It left me very unsettled, and desperately wanting some chocolate cookie therapy.)
Does that mean it’s not a good book? No, I believe it means exactly the opposite. I have so many highlights in this book that if it was a print book, I’d be afraid it would leak neon yellow ink.
What do you do when someone you love is falling apart? What do you do when you can’t fix them?
I know 3 Sides to a Circle left an impact on me. I know I’ll read it again – and that this time I’m keeping chocolate on hand when I do.
I received this book through goodreads first reads!! I cannot thank the author enough for sending this to me. I would like to note that it shipped wonderfully!! This book is about two girls and a guy that are best friends. There is the quiet, reserved, shy girl the nerdy boy and the crazy, broken girl. I love that. There is a character that everyone should relate to. I relate most to Honor personality wise. Anyways, I loved this book. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! I did want to say one thing... I know I am not the editor or anything but this really got to me. On page 32 there is the "follow your nose" quote and Libby says you know the trix bunny... that is TOUCAN SAM with Frootloops. I just had to mention that. I also love that this books setting was while they were in college. I don't want to give any spoilers aways so all i will say is that Honor meets her roommate Libby who is a whirlwind, and then Libby sort of adopts Toby and they have this super close relationship that is potentially harmful to their personal lives. I think the authors did a very good job with writing this book and I look foward to reading much more by them!! Thank you again. READ THIS BOOK
Entering college can be a stressful time and Honor wants nothing more to relax and experience the "normalcy" of college life after being a model and daughter of a Military man. Honor heads to college and opens her dorm room and finds Libby - a crazy fun loving chick and then later the pair of them are introduced to Toby - their dorm neighbour who soon becomes their best friend. The three become so close and all goes well until Honor meets Sawyer - a painter and fellow student. Over the time , Sawyer and Honor start to get closer and closer and Libby starts showing signs of craziness and obsessiveness. Soon things start to get a bit hectic in the novel as Toby is attacked , Honor gets serious with Sawyer and Libby's moods go from up and down all day. What will happen though when the answer behind Libby's moods make sense ? Will the threesome make it through college safe and sound ?
This novel reminded me a tad bit of the movie "The Roommate" starring Leighton Meester just without the killings.
Well, that was an emotional ride. Such a different NA book than I'm used to reading. LOVED that. It's sometimes hard to remember that there are all kinds of love stories to tell, including friendship love stories. And while I may not have had a similar University experience, there was something about the way this was written that just brought me back to that time.
It was so hard to read at times, b/c I was looking at it from my more experienced perspective, and things were so obvious to me that I Just wanted to scream at them to wake up and notice that this was not NORMAL! But if I were to actually take myself back to that time in my life, would I Have done any better? Maybe. Maybe not. It made the characters so real, and I loved them all even with all their flaws and things that I hated.
Definitely the kind of book that just digs in and rests inside your heart for awhile. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is a really intriguing book. The characters are so intense and real and as a reader, I found myself really caring for them. Toby, Honor, and Libby are a trio of friends that I really found myself rooting for.
However, I would have liked more. Libby is supposed to be an enigma so it made sense that we didn't know much about her. But Toby and Honor's backstories could have been more detailed... I would have liked more details. And I would have liked to see more development in Sawyer and Honor's relationship, since they were so adorable. It made me laugh whenever Libby or Toby referred to him as "Honor's painter".
If you are a fan of new adult fiction, I think you will probably like this story. The friendship is intriguing and as a college kid, I think it's always fun to read stories that are set in college.
Once again I wish there were half stars! This would be a solid 7 out of 10 for me - which means 3 1/2.
It was a quick, easy read. Even so, you were able to experience the rolling emotions of the characters. You also care about the characters, which is always a good thing when a book is relatively short.
I think that the book cover indicates absolutely nothing of what is within. I don't understand the choice - you would have some dismiss it as a cheesy romance and not bother with it. It is much better than that, and while there is a little bit of too easy love in the story, that is not all it has to offer.
