I Was Only Asking: Poems About Big Questions by Steve Turner

Rate this book
Steve Turner has always been fascinated by children’s curiosity and the direct but thoughtful way in which children ask some of life’s Big Questions. For example, Who am I? What is a person? and Why isn’t life fair? In this thematically arranged collection, he addresses some profound questions in a variety of immediate, amusing, and engaging ways that children will relate to. Questions of identity, purpose, behavior, and many other issues relevant to today’s children provide the framework for this entertaining yet thought-provoking new collection of poems.

What a great collection of poems for kids and even grownups that don't take themselves too seriously. Very similar to Silverstein - the poems are silly and fun to read with simple rhythms, and have great illustrations to go along with them. They are grouped into sections around life's big questions and do not come across as preachy even though they are written from a Christian point of view. These poems are really enjoyable to read, especially at bedtime.
