A cool way of looking behind the scenes of one of my favourite TV shows. Even if you're not a fan of the show, the insights into what goes on during the writing of a series are worthwhile. One note of critique for the Kindle edition: it seems as if something went wrong with the conversion from print to e-book - there are quite a few typos, spelling errors and similar errors, which is a bit of a shame. I'm sure if Adrian Monk would read the Kindle version, he'd feel the need to grab some correction fluid and fix the errors with a ballpoint pen. Oh, and one other thing: this book is only about seasons 1-4, and it seems there never was, nor will there probably ever be, and update for seasons 5-8. Still, it's enjoyable enough as it is.
Terry Erdmann and Paula Block have written an episode guide that rises far above the usual flat writing or fannish drool that personifies this genre of book. MONK: THE OFFICIAL EPISODE GUIDE is detailed and informative and packed with behind-the-scenes anecdotes -- and yet still manages to be every bit as breezy and entertaining as the show it chronicles. I'm a biased reviewer -- I write the MONK books and episodes of the TV series -- but I still learned a lot about the show that I didn't know before. This is now my MONK bible...and it should be yours, too.
An entertaining look at the episodes and behind the scenes stories from the first four seasons of the show. Obviously, it is outdated now since it only has half the episodes, but it is still fun for what it is.
