I hope that this author has other books because I am obsessed! I need to know what happens in this series the curiosity is killing me. The plot line is definitely straying from the anime unlike the beginning volumes but I actually like the manga's plot much more.

I don't like Yukiji, mostly because I'm cheering for Nanami.

And I still hope that Tomoe will know that Nanami is his lifesaver, not Yukiji.

It has always been Nanami, it has always been Nanami 😭💗💗💗 I know that she uses Yukiji's name when she takes care of sick Tomoe, but how did Tomoe really actually end up falling deeply in love with Yukiji? Did Yukiji reciprocate his feelings? But how? Because as far as this volume covers, Yukiji still loaths any yokai. I have so many questions! 😩

I love that while Nanami struggles alone in the past to save Tomoe, and when she was pulled back to the present time, everyone around her is there to comfort her. Mikage-sama, Mizuki, Onikiri, Kotetsu, Kurama, Himemiko, Kotaro and even Ryu-Oh and his wife 😭💗💗 Nanami is never truly alone 🥺💕

Why yes, this book just arrived in the mail today (thank you, Amazon Prime). And yes, I did read it almost immediately. I am that addicted to this adorable series.

Nanami is visiting the past to learn how to undo Tomoe's curse in the present. The Tomoe in the past is frightening...is it wrong that this just makes him that more attractive? It doesn't hurt that he has his hair long in all his yokai glory, either. Yes, I'm a fangirl. He's gorgeous. Sue me.

My husband will be thrilled that Nanami is just as spunky as ever when he reads this (he's currently hooked on The Way of Kings so it's going to be a while). I especially love Nanami's interaction with Akura-Oh in the past, though their meeting ends on a shocking note for her. She must realize that these yokai are not nice, but perhaps because she's only really known Tomoe after he's been tamed by Mikage, it's just not a reality she wants to admit to?

Next volume, please! (In four months...err...I don't know if I can wait that long!)

Squee!!

Caution! SPOILERS in the review!

Okayyyy… this is gonna be a little controversial but I didn’t like this volume as much as the previous ones. Don’t get me wrong, the good things are really good but then again this volume is just really short. I feel like nothing really happens in it because of its length and everything is just building up for the next volume. Also this volume contains something called special episodes and they are cute but they did take me out of the story a little.

So let’s start with the good stuff because there’s a lot of that. So Nanami returns back to the present and I have to say that I love how all of her friends came to help her and support her. Even Ryu-oh’s wife is there which is just really wholesome. However, I feel like the author is doing this just to deliberately take a break from this really engaging plot which does bother me because I was really invested and now I got taken out of it.

I also love how we can see Tomoe change now that he was saved by Nanami and also saves Yukiji in the process because he thinks that she is the one that saved his life.

But the best part is definitely Nanami hanging out with Akura. It’s just really funny how this menace of a yokai keeps nagging her and stealing her canned peaches. Also Nanami is trying to see good in him because well, Nanami sees good in everyone but then she just realizes that he is hopeless which is like, yeah, how did you not see that girl.

And then we have the special episodes which are fine and cute but I don’t want special epsiodes, I want to see what happens next so this just really dragged the volume down for me.

Unfortunately, I think I’ll give this 3 stars. It could have been so great… it was this close. But anyway, it was definitely a worse volume than its predecessors and I have to acknowledge that.

Not to be weird or anything but.... I actually like Akura-Ou?! 👀

Don't get me wrong, he's still an evil and cruel youkai through and through. Even when I watched the anime, I grew a soft spot for him as Kirihito - because no matter what he said, or what front he was putting on, he still pretty much cared. Begrudgingly, but still... And honestly, what kind of bloodthirsty demon would go to such lengths just to get their one and only friend to pay them attention?

A lonely one, that's who.

Plus, this chapter with him and Nanami was just so precious. I'm sorry that they've never included it in the anime - though I admit it was a good choice because otherwise, we would all become suckers for another demon and could kiss our morality goodbye.

Hey, I've got no regrets! If they didn't want us to care, they wouldn't make them look like that!

In this volume, we continue with Nanami in her journey to the past to find a way to save Tomoe. At the end of the last volume, Tomoe has been hurt by the river and Nanami goes to save him, which she does, and it sounds like this means that Nanami is actually the one Tomoe falls in love with, because in her quest to try not to meddle with the past (HA.) Tomoe ends up thinking her name is Yukiji. I’m still confused about this though, because in past volumes Nanami gets a glimpse of Tomoe and Yukiji together. So do they look so alike that Nanami might not have realized that was herself? But that doesn’t seem entirely plausible. Best keep reading...

I am really enjoying Nanami time traveling, especially because we are finding out that it's actually and not what we originally thought. At least, that is how it's playing out. Seeing him is a nice twist on the story. I can't wait to finish this series. It's such a good comforting read. The special chapters at the end were cute. I'll be honest, Tomoe is soooo gorgeous in a couple of pages in this volume.

I just loved seeing Akura-oh with Nanami! I always loved her with Kirihito, and this was just as good, if better. He was so random and silly, and the way he ate the peaches was great. It's funny to think that he would not have saved Nanami from the robbers if they hadn't also taken the can of peaches.

I wasn't really into the OVA's at the end. I would have preferred to just keep reading the story instead of breaking from it and focusing on some random shenanigans.

Definitely not enough Tomoe in this book *sigh*

I don't usually enjoy the issues that involve Akura-Oh, and this one features him heavily. However, I really enjoyed this. The character development of all of the principle characters, including Akura-Oh, was very insightful. I didn't care very much for the special episodes at the end. It's not that they were bad, it's just that they impeded the progress of this story arc. I wanted to know what happened next, but these distracted me from that goal because I also didn't want to skip them.

I'm going to leave the same review for all the volumes. I LOVED this manga so much and am trying to collect all the physical copies. I was originally reading it online when it was still coming out

There are a lot of characters. Only some are the main characters, but we see and get to know the side characters also. World building was nicely done in typical youkai fashion, and the romance was very cute

1. Yukiji didn't deserve anything bad that happened to her ever I wish she could be happy and safe forever
2. It makes me so emo that Akura-Oh is literally just like... a child in a powerful body T_T He has all this strength and can only chase little moments of fleeting excitement. He and Tomoe are basically just two children who have free reign to do whatever they want. You can tell Akura-Oh is just so damn immature but has some sweetness hidden inside him.

I liked getting to know some of the characters from Tomoe's past more in this book, especially Akura-Oh and Yukiji. I liked that some of the secondary characters like Kurama weren't forgotten and getting to see Nanami start her work on Akura-Oh was great. I'm excited to keep reading and am hoping Tomoe will be brought back in more soon.

I love that Nanami was actually the one who saved Tomoe (though it’s interesting that someone who hates yokai as much as Yukuji could ever fall for him, even if he did rescue her once). I also think it’s interesting that Nanami ended up running into Akura-ou while in the past... though I’m worried about what will happen when Nanami finally finds the fallen god...
