Being shot in his dire wolf form by his would-be mate while hunting caribou wasn’t exactly how Wachei expected to happen upon their first meeting. Heated kisses and passionate embraces, yes, but not flying bullets.
Eryn wasn’t pleased to see a strange man standing next to the caribou she’d just brought down. The kill was hers, and if he thought he could take it from her, he could think again. But once she comes near, and sees how gorgeous he is, suddenly getting as close as possible to the sexy stranger is job one.
As the heat between the couple intensifies, a threat looms, that of a lone wolf the sentinels have crossed paths with once before. Wachei knows he must bring Eryn into his world a lot sooner than he’d planned, especially when another threat is discovered—the very evil he and his wolf brothers were created to destroy is closer to home than they’d thought.

Eryn has been raised with two brothers and knows how to take care of herself and she can hunt as good as any man. Only problem is, is that her brother’s sticks their noses into every one of her relationships and they ruin them every time. She really needs to find a man that can stick up to her brothers and can make her feel the way she needs to feel. She never thought she would meet a man that made her melt on the spot until she went hunting and thought that this guy was trying to get her kill.
Wachei is on a mission to find his mate. His alpha has already met his mate and she is the reason they are all awake. He needs to beat the evil that he was sent to protect the world from. He is just out minding his own business and looking for a kill. He loves to let his wolf loose. He wasn’t expecting to get shot and he has to hurry and turn into a human before something else happens to him. Imagine his surprise when he realizes that she is his mate.
I couldn’t imagine being shot and knowing that they one that shot me would be the one that would make my world whole. Wachei doesn’t expect what Eryn does to him. This book really made me laugh and I knew I had to read this one after I read the first one. It really fits into the first book and was so exciting. I don’t know if Wachei did the right thing in taking the choice away from Eryn or not. Would I want the decision to be taken away from me? I know it was for the best and it ended up really saving her life in the end. The ending was unexpected and I can’t say that I didn’t like it. I can’t wait to read the next one. I would tell everyone to try this series.
This author sure knows how to write great stories.
Wachei scented prey while he was in his wolf form. As he spots a small herd of caribou, he gives chase. Ten months have passed since Cassidy had found him and his brothers asleep in the ice cave where they had been asleep for ten thousand years. The world they woke up to was very different from what they were used to. They were the very first werewolves, turned by their shaman to be sentinels and guard against the evil that was coming. They were granted immortality but their descendants did not have that particular gift. They were to sleep until they were needed. But Edensaw, their alpha, woke them early when Cassidy his mate had set off his mating urge.
Wachei was in a new world but he missed his old one terribly. Mortals now knew nothing of werewolves.
Wachei launched himself at the caribou he was stalking only to be shot by a mortal who also wanted the kill. She ends up shooting the beast down. When Wachei scents her, he knows she is his mate. But she is a mortal and not one of his kind. Eryn spots him next to her kill and she is not happy. He had changed to his human form and they have instant chemistry. But a threat looms on the horizon, one that will force Wachei to ensure his mate’s safety by bringing her into his world. He only hopes she is ready for it all.
Ice Hunter’s Mate by Marisa Chenery is the second book in the Werewolf Sentinels series. This book was completely confusing for me to read. Perhaps if I had read the first book in the series, this book would have made more sense. I felt as though I was coming into a story already in progress. But other than that, I think the premise is really good, and the characters are very strong. I just think this series must be read in order.
Wachei is a very complicated and multi layered character. I liked his strength and charisma that jumped off the pages. I also enjoyed Eryn; she is strong, not a person who will let someone just make choices for her. The characters are electric together as well. I am looking forward to going back to read the first book in this series; I think I have missed a lot I really want to read about.
Ice Hunters Mate is the second book in the Werewolf Sentinels series. It has a unique storyline that can't be beat : Ice Age werewolves , frozen for ten thousand years. This is a really entertaining story with some light humor. The story flows at a super fast pace. It's a little on the short side but what the hey. I'll take a good werewolf story any way I can get it. Wachei and his five wolf brothers were the first werewolves - created by their big kahuna to protect against a coming evil. Finally awakened after a ten thousand year nap , the warriors struggle to acclimate in the modern world gets downright humorous at times. As predicted they begin to find their mates. While hunting in his dire wolf form , Wachei is accidentally shot by his mate. At first Eryn is suspicious of the sexy stranger she meets as she is out hunting. But an attraction like they share just can't be denied. Wachei can tell by Eryn's irresistible scent that she is his mate. He is aware that the truth about him and his wolf brothers could be so shocking to his mate that he could loose her forever. He decides to take their courtship easy before claiming her as his mate. But Eryn's acceptance of their mating bond isn't the only thing Wachei has to worry about. An old enemy poses an inescapable danger to, not only the wolf brothers , but to their loved ones as well. I really liked this short story. The characters were vibrant and unique. I adored Wachei as the sweet alpha hero. I admired his willingness to allow Eryn to make her own choices about their relationship. In a nutshell : Wachei was the ultimate alpha hero and I fell a little in love with him. Ice Hunters Mate was aquick and enjoyable read. I will continue to follow this series as the other warriors find their own mates.
Wachei is an immortal werewolf, chosen by his shaman ten thousand years ago to become a sentinel and fight the dark magic when it became too strong. Until then he slept in an ice cavern waiting. When his alpha wakes to his mate, he calls the rest of the sentinels and they go about learning the new world, preparing for their mates and the battles to come.
I enjoyed this story more than the first in the series. The characters were more laid back and more friendly now that they have been awake for almost a year. It was funny to read about the slang that confused them and made me think about things that we say that don’t always make sense. Wachei and Eryn are a nice couple. She isn’t afraid of much and is sort of a tom boy. She enjoys hunting and dressing her own kills and can take care of herself if need be.
I liked how this story was different from the first book. In a series like this where all the characters want to meet their mates and claim them, the books can seem similar and not exciting. This addition wasn’t like the first book. The way the characters meet and interact is funny and different . We also get to see how the separation anxiety can affect the couple.
There is more page time devoted to the dark magic and we get glimpses into the bad guys lair, getting a look at what they are planning. I am looking forward to where the story takes us in the next book.
Though I like Eyrn, I don’t like her brothers. They’re a little too obnoxious and I’m glad she, her sister-in-law and their mother all put them in their place.
Wachei’s (how do you pronounce that?) ‘brother’s’ can teach them a lot about how to interact with each other. They play around, but not so disagreeably.
Speaking of, Lindsay and Ketah have a weird relationship that may backfire when she gets older.
I wish they’d been more archery shown. I hope we get more of the ancient cave man history and that they don’t become too civilized.
It looks like the dark one, Andre is going to really bad in here. I hope it doesn’t unbalance the mood of the rest of the story which has been light so far.
Fave Scenes: Barbies, Heidi showing up at Eyrn’s and wolf kisses.
I loved their instant connection it was palpable. I love werewolf shifter stories. I can't help it. The majority I've read are good stories involving faithful males. I was happy it was the same in this one. I loved Eryn's reaction to him telling her that he was a werewolf. It was humorous. No complaints of the hero either. He was simply scrumptious. I will continue reading the series.
I really enjoyed this world! Both of the main characters were believable and it was fun to watch them get together. I look forward to reading more about the people in this world.
