This book is an eye-opening for me. How China in a couple of decades could turn the world, economically. How the strategy of The West (European and USA) to encourage China to consume more has backfired, because the more China consume, the more they produce, and the more they export. Additionally, the deep culture and creative mind has created countless fake products, which of course affected the income of the patent holders. The local governments are not willing to entirely ban the production of those fakes because it will cause massive unemployment.
And of course, those production and consumerism in China has environmental implications: greenhouse gases, untreated waste water released to the Yangtze river, and the creation of new deserts which could cover 40% of its land.
Maybe that's why recently The West seems to eagerly try to stop China's export and development.
