A SHADOW MARKET STORY -- Will makes a very good living selling animates -- dolls and figures, spellbound with a spark that mimics life. He's never been asked to track down the same doll twice before -- but if he can't, it will be the end of his career, and possibly his life ....
An unreliable narrator, Michael Montoure is an indie writer of horror and dark urban fantasy. His obsessions include hidden truths, secret dealings, and the changing and fragile nature of our own pasts. He is known as much for his spoken-word performances of his fiction at Seattle coffeehouses and conventions as for the stories themselves. He lives alone with a gray cat by the edge of Echo Lake, Washington.
A collector of puppets seeks a one of a kind doll. Once he has him, he realizes he's not just an animated doll. The collector thinks BILLY is evil, but he'd have to have a soul for that. A super-quick RECOMMENDED read. I'll be sure to check out the author's other works.
This was a tight, tense short about evil men and an evil puppet. They deserved each other. I would be interested in reading more stories set in this world.
