Rylie Gresham, Alpha of the endangered werewolf species, is pregnant. The fact that she's only eighteen and maybe a tiny bit in love with her boyfriend's brother isn't even the worst part: the baby is going to be a werewolf, too. Certain that Seth is the father, she finally agrees to marry him, even if her heart is still filled with doubt.

Abel is being held captive by Cain when he hears about Rylie's condition - and the shocking circumstances surrounding the conception. Rylie and Abel have been mating on the full moons, so there's a chance that he's the father, and she has no clue. Now Abel has to escape Cain and crash the wedding before his mate marries his brother.

A zombie mother-in-law, back-stabbing hunters, and wicked morning sickness mean that they're all in for one heck of a party.

Omg, it totally can't end like that. I want book five! Gah, this was the best one and kept me entertained like crazy. I loved it. I hope the baby is for sure Abel's cause it looks like it is. I really can't stand the thought of Seth being with Riley.

This was another thrilling novella that had me on my toes from start to finish. The idea of a wedding set in the middle of all the chaos ensuing was a great touch, especially as more revelations about mating and Cain’s true intentions come to light. While I hate to see Abel and Seth internally fighting over their one true love, Rylie, it seems readers are in for a bit of tug of war, because, as we learn from the synopsis, Rylie’s unborn child could be either Seth’s or Abel’s, throwing a huge wrench into Rylie’s plans to marry Seth. Likewise, Cain’s plans to ruin everything are a bit of a setback, as well.

Reine does a phenomenal job enticing her readers and keeping them glued to the pages as events unfold, slowly releasing vital information that seems to be pushing in one solid direction concerning parentage. Yet, I’m really hoping there is something we haven’t been told yet, because I’m hoping these revelations aren’t actually true… Of course, I’m a romantic at heart, so the rivalry, while intense and extremely interesting, is really beginning to weigh on my heart. I don’t want to see anyone hurt, but it looks like that is where things are headed.

Originally slated to be a four novella spinoff of Seasons of the Moon, the Cain Chronicles series is nowhere close to a finale, for which I am very thankful. I have been following Rylie’s story from the very beginning, and when Seasons of the Moon ended with the fourth book, I was satisfied, but sad to see the novels laid to rest. So was Reine, as it were, and this delightful story continued on through her creation of four novellas, with the help of reader input. In my humble opinion, this is the coolest thing ever: Reine wrote the first novella, New Moon Summer, and released it to the public. Then, she asked her readers for their input. From there, Reine wrote the next installment, released it, and again asked for reader input. With the craziness that has been going on around me lately, I wasn’t able to chime in—I didn’t even know about the spinoff series until very recently—but all that’s been put right. With the completion of what I thought was to be the very last novella in the Cain Chronicles, I found that, yes, the story continues. And this time, I’m weighing in. Four stars.

I hope this series never ends that’s how much I’m in love with it. Two brothers, a wedding and a unexpected development that leaves you with your eyes wide in shock. Nothing is as it seems in the Seasons of the Moon Series.

The plot to this story keeps getting better and better. You never know how the story will end and that’s what makes it exciting. It starts right where the last book left off when Rylie learning the reason for why she’s been getting sick Rylie agrees to marry Seth. Even though her feelings are still split in half, she knows though that marrying Seth is the right thing to do. Deciding to get married right away Seth plans a trap for Cain and his followers. During that time Abel is captured and is tortured by Cain and his mom but all this time he learns the truth about Rylie and he can’t think of anything else but getting to her.

I can’t wait for the next book of this series!

Good book

All the books in this series , are very good. But they are to short. I think , if you joined two together, it would make a better read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This installment in the Rylie Gresham saga deepens the stakes with pregnancy, complicated relationships, and intense pack drama. The tangled love triangle between Rylie, Seth, and Abel adds emotional complexity, while the threat of enemies like Cain and scheming hunters keeps the tension high. The mix of supernatural suspense and dark humor (including a zombie mother-in-law!) makes for a gripping, sometimes wild ride. Fans of paranormal romance with intricate plots will enjoy the blend of action, passion, and family chaos.

If you are at all a fan of this series, this is an installment you do not want to miss. There is plenty of action, tension, and surprises to keep your heart going pity pat and this keeps up to the very end. I even found myself reaching for the Puffs and shedding a few tears. Red Rose Moon is a little bit longer than the other novellas in the Cain Chronicles and I found it a very satisfying treat. The description provided is a very good overview of the storyline and I will not rehash it. Once again I will state that this series is best read in order so you do not miss a bit of the back story that brings Rylie to this place in her life, as well as be able to truly appreciate the jaw dropping and emotional conclusion. As an aside all four of the novellas in the Cain Chronicles, as are the four novels from the Season of the Moon series, which is the beginning of the journey taking place prior to the Cain Chronicles, are now both available in an omnibus and I definitely recommend taking advantage of this, as they are in my opinion definitely worth reading.
I received this book from the author with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.

Seriously, nothing says "family time with the Wilders" quite like someone trying to fillet someone else with a knife. Or claws. Even guns aren't out of the question. Seriously, Seth and Abel's family have a whole lot of dysfunction going on. Beyond the evil side of the family attempting to kill them constantly, Seth and Abel are now at odds. While the brothers haven't always been buddy-buddy, I don't know how easily (or even IF) they're going to be able to come back from all this.

I'm very tangled up about these relationships. STILL. I like Seth with Rylie. I like Abel with Rylie. The fact that Mama Wilder disapproves of her with both her boys just makes me want them to figure out a way to share. SHARING IS GOOD, BOYS! All the cool werewolves are... no, wait. They're not. Scratch that.

I'm a little afraid to read the next installment. I WORRY ABOUT WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN! WORRY!

*ignores myself and continues reading*

Just when I didn’t think things could get more intense…. well, it’s S.M. Reine, so I should have known better. Once I picked up Red Rose Moon there was no putting it down.

The synopsis pretty much says it all, so there’s not a whole lot more to add without giving anything away. There were some huge twists in this one though. Some that I never saw coming, honestly. There were people that I wanted to strangle and then there was Abel… I fell in love with him just a little bit more in Red Rose Moon. Since I’ve read ahead… I know how things end up. I’m really going to enjoy the rest of the journey though.

Is it weird to say this plot got a bit wild for a book about werewolves? Suddenly, other non-human folks entered the picture, plus a cult I didn't understand (and which I'm sure will come together in the next books). I did find all the scenes in which Abel was a wolf and get all gently-sniffy with Rylie totally adorable. Everything around the wedding (we know it's coming; she's in a wedding dress on the cover) surprised me and felt like two kids trying to be grown-ups, which felt a little off for the characters. I didn't think Seth, a trained killer and college grad, would think marrying a teenager would change things.

The penultimate chapter in the continuing story of Rylie, Seth and Abel. This chapter is fast-paced, emotionally packed and full of action. It brings the phrase "shotgun wedding" to life. The writing is excellent as always, the plot thickens and the characters carry on developing.

I'm only giving 4 stars to these books though as they are way too short. It would have been better to write it just as one book to follow on, rather than separate it, but what do I know? I'm just a reader!

ok this series is good, but i'm starting to get made over the hole abel and seth thing. they had a great brother-relationship going and now it's ruined. i guess i'll have to read the last one to see how it turns out, but i think it could of ended here with seth dying as some sort of sacrifice for gryn (the aunt) at the end.

I'm not usually a fan of pregnancy plot-lines (or love triangles for that matter) but I'm totally sold on this series. They have all been really quick reads that I tore through in a matter of hours. If you want a good, quick paranormal read -- this series is for you. It ends in a cliffhanger, but I just jumped right into the next one! Love it!

I must say, even though there were some slow parts the book was pretty consistent with movement and action. Sadly Riley is becoming a bit useless now that she is pregnant. However, the book did have a few good twists and it ended really powerfully. Enough, for me to want to read the rest of the series, thus the reason for the fifth star.

In Red Rose Moon by S.M. Reine, the fourth book in the Cain Chronicles, we learn that blood is not thicker than water and emotions are full of betrayal. The best episode thus far, this book finally explains the odd prologue from book 1. Having read them all back to back, I must say...Oh, the cliffhanger!

My hope that Rylie ends up with Abel lives on! The ending was great can't wait for the next one and hopefully some answers to some very big questions. I'm actually really glad that the series was extended and would be happy for even more once this story is concluded.
