The bigger the bounty, the more dangerous the fugitive.

Khan, a Chamele warlord, has a huge bounty on his head. His enemy is willing to pay an outrageous amount to secure him. Khan wants to be apprehended, especially if the bounty hunter is a particular brown-eyed female with razor-sharp daggers and an even sharper tongue. He'll allow her to subdue him sexually, his passion and prowess not inhibited by restraints, and when she collects her bounty, he'll collect his revenge, killing his enemy and claiming his little bounty hunter forever.

Zeta doesn't do forever. She captures the worst scum in the galaxy and trades them for credits. Khan is fierce and sexy and the most dominant male she's ever encountered, but he's also a fugitive. Once she sates herself with his body, she'll betray him. That's her job.

The most difficult thing I had to work my head around with this book was not bellowing Khhhhhhhaaaaaan every time I read his name. Let this be a lesson to you about watching Star Trek movies before reading a book with a character named Khan. SOME THINGS SIMPLY SHOULD NOT BE DONE.

Now, I'll admit that my reading tastes run a little toward the pervy side. I'm not apologizing for that, mind you, just pointing it out. So when Khan's manparts are described as having a "peculiar ring of flesh" around the base, I not only got irrationally excited about this (non-standard parts! YAY!) but I also had the sudden urge to read ALL the books in this series just to learn more. That he can use his non-standard parts to deliver mind-numbing bliss to his lady friend MADE IT EVEN BETTER.

Lest you think I only read for the naughty parts... no, wait. I do only read for the naughty parts. Actual story is always a bonus.

*thumbs up* to the non-standard parts. May they pleasure his lady for many years to come.

In case you were wondering, this is why I read sexy sci-fi. *blisses out*

Disappointing in most regards. Filler.
There was no warm up between Khan & Zeta. The book starts with Khan already having noticed Zeta & decided on her as his future mate. I felt very little depth of character from either of them. The sex scenes were so-so with no foreplay.
It has an HEA, but Khan doesn't really get the bad guy.
It was barely luke warm to me on all fronts.

Sigh. The world depicted in this short erotic science fiction was so promising. However, we get a very slim view and a super fast erotica piece instead. Too bad. I also enjoy a bit of Warlord fun and discovering a new world.

It wasn't a bad read However, it could have been much more enjoyable it all the elements had been allowed to develop.

This review is for the reworked, longer twice the length) version released 14 May 2019.

Khan is one of three Warlords in the Chamele sector; he rules Chamele 2. A rogue Chamele, Tolui, has been stealing their ships and abducting women and children. Tolui must be stopped but very little is known about him. Khan has a bounty on his head, and he and his brothers, Berke and Murad - the other Chamele Warlords - have devised a plan to capture and kill their enemy. Zeta is the bounty hunter assigned to bringing Khan to Tolui; the credits are desperately needed. There is one big problem though: Zeta is Khan's gerel, his mate, and that is going to seriously complicate Khan's plan.

The Chamele Barbarian Warlords series continues with WARLORD'S BOUNTY. I don't think it's necessary to have read the previous installment to fully enjoy this book. The romance is great and super steamy; Khan and Zeta are both fearless, protective, and extremely well matched. They are interesting characters, and sparks fly all over the place, in more ways than one. But I think what I liked best in this book is the story itself, the worldbuilding, and what are maybe the bones of the series. I loved the concept of the bounty hunter academy, and the innovative take on bounty hunters.

WARLORD'S BOUNTY has a very strong story; there's quite a bit of deception involving Khan and Zeta, and I loved how Cynthia Sax handled it. At the beginning, their "relationship" is iffy at best, and although it's not funny per se, I found myself smiling at their interactions. Later on, it became all about outmanoeuvring each other. The last chapter before the epilogue was epic! There is a fabulously clever twist - although I would have preferred not to need a tissue - and I cannot wait to see how this will affect the rest of the series. It was so exciting and unexpected! Cynthia Sax always delivers and WARLORD'S BOUNTY is right on target!

Warriors and barbarians, oh my!

I love this particular 'verse that Cynthia Sax has created. I'm glad that she has expanded the world out past the cyborgs, because it makes it a much better world.

Khan and Zeta are perfect for each ither, I think. They are both stubborn af, and they are really going to have an exciting life together.

I enjoy the life hasn't broken them, strong women and sexy warriors in this series. The story hidden under all that hot sex isn't too bad either ;) These stories are really quick to read and can be read in any order, you don't have to read the whole series to know what is going on. I have said this before there is lots of sex in this series and I quite often skim over it to get to the story underneath, I don't find it to distracting thou. I gave this story five stars.

Stubborn

Zeta is one stubborn little bounty hunter... but fiercely devoted. This was hot and strangely very sweet. Khan is a big giant teddy bear that I'd make room for lol.

Khan has been searching for Tolui. He wants him dead. He has lost 3 warriors to this fight. He didn’t expect to find his gerel. Zeta is a bounty hunter. She has a duty to those orphans who resided at the bounty hunter academy. She only needs this one bounty and they will be set for a while. She didn’t expect the job was going to cause more confusion and have her heart being tested.

When Khan goes into his invisible mode, he keeps playing with Zeta. It’s cute. The chemistry is there from the start. When they finally do get together it is hot and steamy. Zeta has been alone for so long and does not expect anyone to stay. But with Khan, she wants that more than anything. Khan has a job to do but he is so drawn to Zeta it is hard at times to stick to the plan. I loved the cat and mouse plan with these two. Khan’s dominance just pulls her in making her feel safe.

Sexy and fierce female lead

I love everything all of this authors stories, and this newest one is no exception. It’s sexy, fast paced, and action packed, with twists and turns that kept me on my toes. It was wonderfully fierce, with a strong female character who had overcome SO much and fought so hard. I was saddened by the showdown with the “bad guy”, the author forced me to feel bad for him and his plight, but it opened a door for some wonderful advances in the story. All in all, fantastic story!

Great book! Thoroughly enjoyed this. Khan is an ass but that's what makes him so irresistible. I also liked Zeta's character. All in all, an amazing read from an amazing author ^_^

A Warlord and a bounty hunter - a thrilling read!
The best laid plans can so easily go awry. But when a Chamele warlord meets his gerel, plans must bend to need. I always love a strong, determined woman - Zeta most certainly is that! Seeing Khan work his way into her heart, gaining her trust, is heartwarming. They’re so well matched: each determined to protect the other, whether needed or not.
In Khan’s words: “You are my gerel, my light, the keeper of my happiness, my hope, everything that is good in the universe.” Meeting the Warlords’ elusive target raises some interesting questions - as yet unanswered. But, I believe it has changed Khan’s awareness. Now I’m eager for another installment in the Chamele Warlords saga!

Quick read

I love reading books by Cynthia Sax! This one was a another foray into the world of the fierce warriors, the Chamale. Khan is a Chamale leader and he has a bounty on his head. He arranges to be “caught” as a trap. The bounty hunter turns out to be his “gerel”. Chaos ensues. There was great chemistry between the main characters and the story was fast paced. I would recommend this for a fun fast read.

Cynthia does a great job of making a tough Warlord incredibly virile and yet so kind hearted you almost want to cry. Zeta, the female bounty hunter is tough as nails and a great fighter. Definitely a kick-ass heroine. The sex scenes in this book are not for the faint at heart. I just wish there was more to the story, but it was a short work jam-packed with action, emotion and a good hook for the next in the series. Highly recommend Warlord's Bounty I'll definitely be reading the next in the series :-)

Zeta was a strong, independent bounty hunter and you know this because she says, "I’m not a pleasure worker. My sole purpose isn’t to service you." “I’m a skilled bounty hunter and the captain of this ship." If she didn't say that you WOULD have thought she was a pleasure worker whose sole purpose was to service him.

Don't write about a wet dish cloth and SAY she's strong. If you're going to write about a strong, independent female lead don't just say it, show it!

Not bad, the beginning of a series.
The characters were likable but lacked tenderness.

Hott Sci-Fi read where roles are somewhat reversed. Female bounty hunter gets outsmarted by sexy alien and sexxy times ensue. Cynthia Sax does it again. Love her HOT READS.

Series: Chamele Barbarian Warlords #2
Rating: 2 stars - It was ok

Khan, a Chamele Warlord, has a bounty on his head. He is going to use it to lure out his enemies, except he finds that his bounty hunter is his mate, which makes the mission even more tricky.

So I attempted to read this book twice shortly after it came out in 2019 but I couldn’t really get into it and DNF around 20% each time. Two years later, I have finally finished this book and it was just ok for me. Khan and Zeta relationship has very little build up or depth to it in my opinion. I was really expecting more from Khan’s book because he is one of the Warlords and frequently has hinted in previous books of wanting a mate badly. Sadly, he got his mate but it wasn’t a very emotional relationship in my opinion. This lack of emotion and build up made these two very forgettable characters.

The overall story also wasn’t very exciting either. Khan was trying to use his bounty to catch the bad guy but nothing really comes out of it in this book. The whole story just felt like it was wasted and the relationship between these two didn’t really improve it. This was not my favorite of the series, but I will give the next book a try. Hopefully I will like it better.

I was on board and really loving this story until the last quarter of it, thinking wow, this author has really improved her writing since the first series I read back in the day. But she loves sucking c&$k too much, not in a reciprocal way, to the detriment of the relationship because it’s done in a manipulative way. Just when the momentum was starting to build, the abused female warrior is abused further by the warlord who is supposed to care for her and because that's this author’s fantasy, the action moves on with no “fix”, leaving us wondering what happened. We're supposed to ignore that we just lost all respect for the hero AND the heroine. Wish I could bleach my eyes or unread what I just read as it's lost all momentum and meaning. The fact that he then removes her from play at the critical moment right before the end didn’t help either. It was manipulative and not honorable, which is supposed to be a big thing for this race. What a let down. Skimmed over the epilogue too (cuz I really had no more interest) and at the end I see the “disciplining”. Of course she has to like that because humiliation is this author’s “drug of choice”. Going to cautiously move on to the next story, hoping for a little more structural integrity. Wish me luck.

Cynthia Sax is one of my favorite authors. Few write sex scenes as varied and steamy as she does! Plus her stories are interesting also, so it's not just "filler" between sex-capades. In this one, Khan is a Chamele Barbarian Warlord, and while he's "been around the block" so to speak, with other females, he's never mated with one. Zeta is a bounty hunter, to earn the money to protect other young females like herself, who, orphaned at young ages and on the street, (metaphorically speaking) had little options besides prostitution to support themselves. Zeta comes from and supports an orphanage that trains new bounty hunters. So she's determined to get the bounty--no matter how sexy the man she's supposed to capture may be--or how hard to resist.

To say that the sex scenes are hot doesn't do them justice. There's an imaginative difference between ordinary sex, and bonding sex. And there are fighting scenes that are descriptive, but not overly so. Zeta proves herself to be worthy of being a warlord's mate--and Khan earns himself a place in the ever-changing fantasies of my dreams.

Male And Female Warriors
If you love strong men and women getting their HEA, you’ll love the books in this series!
Chamele men are big, strong, possessive and protective warriors hoping to one day find their genetically unique mate, their gerel or light in their darkness. And their gerel, mostly human women, are strong, stubborn, sassy warriors in their own way. The stories are full of funny dialogues, steamy scenes, fighting and loving. Wonderful entertainment, I loved them all.

Did not disappoint

This second book was just as good as the first. Cynthia Sax has created another alien love story that captured my attention and pushed me to finish. Her heroes are pure dominant males. Her heroines are just what these bossy alphas need. I can't wait to start the next book.

Absolutely an enjoyable experience for you to
read. She has created characters that you will thoroughly engage in their relationships with each other and the obstacles that they overcome to get their HEA. I highly recommend this entire series to you.

“The best laid plans...

Lotsa heat and steam in this dominance-themed romance. Warlord Khan meets his gerel - and his match - in this double-dealing cat and mouse game designed to entrap his enemy. It’s frenemies to fated mates with a dollop of “pew-pew”. Enjoy it!

Khan needed to destroy his enemies but could not find them so his brothers came up with a plan. The plan was perfect until Khan found Zeta. Everything changed but how to complete his task? Recommend this book and series.

Warlord's dominance

Dominance is the Warlord's way of being apparently and it adds credence. Zeta's character seems to thrive somewhat on submission but only because she may never be as strong or able to camouflage as Khan.
