Angel is surviving. But is someone about to try and put an end to that? Again.
After the harrowing experiences that she went through, Angel is trying hard to keep things on track. Although she sometimes feels that she is just going through the motions of life. Her heart still pumps her blood but she doesn’t feel alive.
Until her life is turned upside down again when a traumatic event draws her back into the blood drinking world. But it is a world that has changed dramatically. A world where legends and reality blur. Where myths and facts collide.
A slayer has risen.
A slayer with a stake in his hand. A stake destined for the hearts of those that Angel loves.
In the battle that ensues, she must fight, not only for herself but for all those that she holds dear. But who will survive?
Neo-gothic Welsh wordsmith Emma Edwards has written since childhood. She worked in Business Administration, married and nurtured her beloved kids, but it was only when they started to get older that she had the time to create, write and publish her first novel Sanguinary and more recently the follow up, Imbrued.
At thirteen, Emma watched The Lost Boys and ever since, she's had a thing about vampires, so it was inevitable that they would be the focus of her debut novel. She doesn't just write paranormal though; there are projects on the way that are grounded in reality like concrete.
Emma's writing style is sassy, sharp, dynamic, uncompromising and tends to the dark side. Let's just say it's never going to be rainbows and fluffy bunnies with Emma. Okay, there is one fluffy bunny in Imbrued, but he doesn't last long!
Wow so much going on in this book, I really love the characters and was shocked about a few but I will not spoil it for others. Emma, if u read this post I just have to say I was so confused at one point in book, I had to keep going back cause I thought I missed a chapter. It was the chapter that begins with story about Luke, it started out so quickly I did not realize it was a thought from past, I thought it was recent but kept mentioning the fact that ash and angel were broken up. Just wanted to give you FYI. I can't wait for book three, I really hope for some happily ever after and hope to find out why men fall so easily for Angel, is there more to her then we know?
Book 2 in the Sanguinary Series see's Angel in a good space after her separation from Ash. She's moved on and is pursuing her dream of being an author but has definitely not gotten over him, every glimpse of him is torture as she know's their meant to be together but also that their no good for one another.
Although their not together she's still in contact with the other band members and is supporting them in Cardiff's battle of the Bands when a murder devastates their lives and pulls her back into Ash's drama.
Knowing how their all suffering Angel help's out how she can by putting her emotions and needs on the back burner while tending to everyone else. Life is never dull for this group though as their secret seems to have gotten out to a Hunter who's all consuming thought is to destroy the evil of the Vampires regardless of who's caught in the crosshairs.
A modern energetic read with high emotions and graphic erotic scenes suitable for the more mature reader.
I have a very love/hate relationship with Angel as I want to bang her head against a wall sometimes as she always thinks of herself second but she's determined to do and have what she wants even if it means having to defend her actions. Abit mystified as to why every guy seems to fancy her but she is the leading lady I suppose.
Got to be honest but i'm really not a fan of Ash as a leading man. He loves Angel more than life but he's insanely jealous and very selfish with putting his emotions first. His drinking and smoking is referred to often which did irritate me a little as it's not my type of thing and again he's putting his own wants before Angel.
Now Jay is my perfect guy in this tale as he loves Angel and fits with her like a puzzle piece while being a cheeky flirt.
Some scenes I found frustrating as I wanted Angel just to scream "I'm here aswell" BUT the twists and turns were compelling and the villain was just the right amount of crazy to make you hate him but want to read more to see what happens next.
Ash was improving by finally showing some restraint towards the end so lets hope he redeems himself in my eyes for the third installment.
Wouldn't say this is suitable for the YA reader due to the graphic and sexual nature of it but it is pretty tame compared to some.
The second book in the Sanguinary series, Imbrued, starts four months after the end of Sanguinary. Angel, the intelligent, overly caring, aspiring writer heroine, is back in the bar where it all began, Domain. Watching Erebis, the band whose lead singer, Ash, her HOT, vampire, ex-boyfriend, rock star, soul mate is competing in the Battle of the Bands. She knew it would be one of the hardest things she had ever done but her newest "beau" wanted to go to "her kind of club" . The last four months have been the most heartbreaking of her life. There was a constant ache where the other half of her soul has been ripped away. Seeing Ash without the aid of alcohol, she is a newly recovering alcoholic, made all of the barely closed wounds open wide when he approaches her. Angel is thrust back into the world of vampires and true to form it is because tragedy has struck and it is not going to stop until it takes them all down!
Once again Ms Edwards' amazing talent for character and plot development makes the reader feel a part of the story. If you thought Angel was complex and an unstoppable force in Sanguinary, wait until you get a look at her now that she has finally had enough and stands up for what she believes and to who she loves. Ash is still incredibly dark and broken and brooding, but now he realizes that he can no longer live without Angel and has to learn to control all the rage that he has endured for 12 years. Ms Edwards also does a lot of wonderful character development with secondary characters, which really makes me hope there are lots more books in this series to come.
This book is captivating from the first page, and even when you find out who the villain is pretty early on in the story, Ms Edwards finds a way to keep the plot twists coming making it a real page turner! OH! and the steamy HOT love scenes just reaffirm that Angel and Ash are more than soul mates, more than kindred spirits...they actually complete each other. Angel and Ash make you believe that true love exists and it is worth moving heaven and hell to find and keep! I simply cannot wait to see where Ms Edwards take us next in the Sanguinary journey!!!!
Emma Edwards strikes again! Another moving story of Ash and Angel and their relationship along with all the dangers there are of loving a vampire.
Angel thinks her life is finally getting back to normal. She has a book that's been published, dating a guy that her parents approve of and has stopped drinking. But has her life gone back to normal or is it just getting worse? Finding out that one of her close friends is murdered she goes back to the vampire house to take care of everyone while they deal with their grief. Ash is even more off the rails normal since it's his best friend that was murdered. Soon Ash and Angel are back together in their relationship where they aren't sure what is good and what isn't. With more attacks on Ash and Angel they are tested beyond their limits for each other but still manage to stick together for the most part. When another vampire dies and they realize that the reason the murderer was one step ahead of them the whole time is because someone in the house betrayed them, they are shocked not to mention angry. Events unfold and everyone's life gets put in danger more than once due to a psychopath. After Ash kills him and Erebis wins Battle of the Bands, Ash asks Angel to marry him. But do they get their happily ever after?
