Prince of Cats
Having finally escaped her duty as the slave for a prominent family, Neomee’s joy is short lived. Much to her horror, she has been reassigned to the Temple, better known among her people as the House of Cats.
Growing up she’d heard stories of the Guardian Cats and their ability to shift. Now she’ll have the opportunity to witness these so-called Cats up close. Intrigued by the notion, Neomee is also simultaneously petrified. She learns quickly that her previous antics won’t be tolerated in the House of Cats and what’s worse; her once untouchable status has been removed. Apparently, Guardian Cats are not only permitted to use the slave women as their “play” things, but it’s actually encouraged! Neomee struggles to keep her head down and her mouth shut while plotting her escape from her life as a slave.
Bray’s existence in the temple has been a dull and meaningless one. Even designated as the revered Prince of Cats, he still couldn’t bring himself to overcome the loss of his mate. That was until a young slave unintentionally pulls him from what he believed was an unending self-loathing.
With his full attention now captured Bray notices the young slave, Neomee, isn’t like the others. At closer inspection, he discovers she hides a willful spirit and wild beauty under the façade of slave-like obedience.
Unfortunately for Neomee, she does the one thing you should never do where a Cat is concerned, she runs. Unable to control his instincts, Bray gives chase and once he has captured his prey he’s unwilling to relinquish her.

Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures. My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scandinavian ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations (White Clay and Nakoda) that inspire my Skin Walker series.
I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots (“…sometimes quiet is violent”). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't love beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)

This was closer to 1.5 stars than 2, to be honest. And since we're going to go with honesty to begin this review, let's continue on with it, shall we?
I am pissed that I paid for this ebook. But that only developed once I finished the book and realized that I had just wasted $2.99 that could have been spent on Krispy Kreme.

Satisfaction guaranteed. Unlike this book.
This Neeomee bitch made every bad decision she possibly could. Such as trying to escape when she knows she's being watched by an elite warrior. Or lying repeatedly when she knows her masters can smell a lie. Then lying more once she's been called out on her original lie.

Wh-what are you even thinking?!
How about wandering catacombs when she knows she could be gang-raped at any moment. Refusing protection when people are trying to rape, torture, and kill her (in no particular order).

Or deciding to be a cock tease towards a man already barely holding onto his self-control. How about getting others punished for her behavior? Or when she finally gets her freedom, the only thing she has given a shit about the entire book, and decides she doesn't want to go.

No. No, she's not kidding.
This girl is just TSTL and basically a horrible person. She has zero redeeming qualities except she smells good. Aside from that, her entire goal in life is to escape being a slave. So she tries to escape over and over, always failing. It should be noted that she has come to the cat shifters as punishment for repeatedly attempting (and failing) to escape from her previous masters.
Neeomee... girl, you are not good at this escaping thing. Just give it up already.
After a life of servitude, you would think this dumb bitch would know how to at least appear to be submissive. Nope. She's yelling at elite warriors and slave masters like she's alpha bitch in here and is repeatedly punished for it.
And for some reason, this elite warrior that holds the respect of the entire temple, wants her. Fine. I'll accept this. But it became harder and harder, then downright impossible, to accept that he would be attracted to somebody that cares for nothing but herself, can't accept reality, endangers others, disregards laws and commands, and fails to understand the most basic concept of survival. Neeomee is not only a crappy person, but a complete fucking moron.
If you've read any PNR before, you've probably come across the concept of marking your mate. A woman isn't safe from others until she carries the scent of her mate. Which only happens after sex. Neeomee is told over and over that until she carries the scent of her mate, she will be at risk of being raped by anyone. She knows this and refuses to have sex. And then goes wandering alone around the temple in the middle of night. Why doesn't she just carry around a flashing neon sign that says "RAPE ME"?
And even after she's almost raped in a dark tunnel, she refuses to protect herself by having sex. Then tries to escape and when caught, claims she's mated. But they can smell that she's not. She's been told numerous times that the cats can smell lies, but that won't stop her from lying like it's a compulsion.
I cannot find one positive characteristic or personality trait. I cannot find one positive, helpful, or selfless action. I cannot find one smart decision. And I cannot figure out why this book is so highly rated when the main character is so shitty.
I'm pissed. And the more I think about specific things that she did, things that would require too much of an explanation of backstory, I get more pissed. I'm pissed that I read it, I'm pissed that I bought it, I'm pissed that it's highly rated, and I'm pissed that the author thought the character was worthy of having her own story.
Fuck this book.

I wish the hero was more alpha, when she was beaten he should have killed them all (or maybe i am just crazy and like them nuts). As a prince cat he did not have his cats in control, like an alpha should have but hey that's my opinion. Also Neomee made stupid decisions that had no sense what so ever.

Was this the author's first book? I haven't checked yet but I can only assume it was or was one of the first few by her to be published. It seemed like it didn't even go through an editor. So many mistakes. Missing commas, putting waste for waist, you're for your, your for you're. Random stuff like that that could have been easily caught by an editor. Unless it *did* go through and editor and said editor missed every single mistake? I have no clue. It just did not read like her most recent books, it felt like it was written by someone else completely and just had the Susan Bliler name on it.
Heroine was an idiot. Hero was an idiot. Heroine was a slave who refused to follow the rules. She pretended to be meek and biddable while planning her escape. Hero notices her for the first time when she accidentally spills wine on him one night at dinner. Before he can even say anything, the slave master slaps her across the face a couple times. He goes in to slap her a third time when the hero steps in front of her. From then on he plays this cat & mouse game with her where he makes a point of touching her or pulling her into his lap while she's working and all she wanted was to be left alone. His cat wants her so he decides he will have her but she refuses to sleep with him.
She's caught trying to run away and hero catches her before she can get too far. Because she's a slave and other cats saw her try to run, she was ordered to be whipped. Hero had to be held down during it because he kept trying to stop it by saying they were bound. The next few days he goes "hunting" for the men who held him down while she was getting whipped and each one he finds, he kills them. They never consummated the mating while she was recovering from the beating so the other cats kept trying to get to her too. At one point she leaves their room, knowing the cats could do something to her, and gets attacked by another guy. Before it gets too far, hero steps in and kills the guy, apologizes to her and then basically attacks her himself because he's so determined to have his scent on her so the others will leave her alone. She finally gets him to stop before he raped her but from that moment on she feared him.
A few scenes later she again gets caught trying to escape and again gets ordered to be whipped but this time the hero takes the beating for her. That's when she realizes she loves him. *insert eye rolling here* After he's whipped, and after his friends step in and kill the men holding them, he takes her to the gate and tells her they're no longer bound and she's free to go. Of course she now *doesn't* want to leave, she wants to be with him and be his mate but he walks away from her. She later comes into the bedroom and all is well once she says she only wanted to be *given* the choice of what to do, not be told what to do. That whole scene had me saying "WTF is wrong with you?" HEA blah blah blah yada yada yada.

This book really displays the versatility of this author and her love of strong characters. I loved Bray! He struggles with his past and eventually embraces his future, but he found the most stubborn, head strong woman to do it with. I really enjoyed the way he defends her and his love filled sacrifice to make her happy. Neomee was a little harder to love though, but only because her one track focus almost cost her everything. This book is a fantastic story and I can’t wait until I can lose myself between the pages once again.

All I can say is WOW!! That was a great book. I was taken away so fast and I couldn't put it down.
I got mad, sad, happy and aroused reading this book. I don't give a dam what you all think. That was a great book. I am glad I bought this book. Sure made the end of the year worth it.

Neomee is a very reluctant slave who attempts to escape. She’s not just fleeing from regular masters, however, she’s trying to run from Guardian Cats–shifters, basically. Kickass eyesight and sense of smell. Unfortunately for her, the head honcho has the hots for Neomee and doesn’t want to let her out of his sight. Forget her leaving the temple!
The leading lady really struggles with her role in the world (naturally–there’s a lot of inner turmoil involved when your freedom and your heart lay in different directions). It was tough to read at times because I was both sympathetic and angry. YES HE IS SEXY BUT NOOOOOOO DON’T THINK ABOUT HIS DICK! STAHP! GET THEE GONE!
Le sigh. She didn’t listen, of course.

Sorry this one didn’t do it for me
I get the choice part in everyone’s life. That being said I don’t get the I . Am . To . Stupid. To . Live. mentality she had going on in this book. Truly I was wanting her to STFU and THINK before doing/talking or just die already. Annoying after the whole I just got caught and decided to take my chances with the evil ass in charge instead of the one that wants me.

My Review: I purchased this book kind of on a whim, looking for a quick dirty read and was really surprised. Normally when I encounter books like this it is just a quick erotica with little substance to the story itself, Prince of Cats wasn't like that at all. It was a full story, granted you know there is more back story on each of the characters that you could read but it wasn't entirely necessary to enjoy the book. I really enjoyed the battle between Bray and his cat, it seems like that is how a shifter should act. I also really enjoyed that the main story line wasn't entirely about them but more about the freedom of choice and how not only do slaves lack freedom but everyone at the temple.

Prince of Cats was a very anticipated book and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait! I am not a fan of giving a lot of information from the book in my reviews because I feel it gives the story away and can ruin it for you. With that being said, here are a couple of "little" information tid bits: Neomee and Bray are the 2 main characters and they are written so well, that you actually feel like you know them and feel what they are going through right along with them. There is suspense, action, a love story and some sexual content in this book and it works REALLY WELL together!! I could NOT put this book down from the moment I started reading it. It did only take me a couple of hours to read, but that may just be because I had anticipated it for so long that I speed read it and I will definitely be reading it again. (And not because I think I missed anything the first time around. It just is one of "those" books that you can read more than once with no problem!) The way Susan wrote this book, the phrases she uses and how she drew the landscape/scenes together for you is really incredible. I felt like I was right there in the story. (I am NOT a big fan of a lot of information that you really don't need. You know, the stuff that you could care less about because it wouldn't make the story any better. Example: The lamps were brown with black tulips that set the shades off just right. BLAH BLAH BLAH. (Hey, I am not a writer. Lol) Susan doesn't do that in her books!)
I loved this book and if anyone has seen my other ratings here on Goodreads and my reviews on Amazon, you would notice, I do NOT give 5 stars lightly and rarely would you ever see me say: "I loved this book." With that being said, I HIGHLY recommend this book and any other book that Susan Bliler has written. They are all fantastic reads!
PS For those of you waiting on her second Skin Walker book - There is a Exclusive Excerpt of it at the end of this book. :) Happy Reading!!

What would you put up with to get a chance for freedom. That pretty much domes up most of the female slave part of the story. Our female heroine wants one thing and that is her freedom but escaping is a huge difficulty and being capture would lead to deadly consequences. Luckily for her she has figured at a fool proof plan to rid herself of working for these cats until the Prince of Cats finds a new mate. So now that all eyes are on her can she escape with her life.
The Princes of Cats has worked hard for his title and was sure no one in the world could feel the void left by the death of mate. That is until a slave catches his eye years later though his loyalty to his beloved is still strong the cat in him is strong but what is it about this slave that marks her so different from the others and what is she hiding? The only way your going to find out is to read it yourself and form your own opinion.

Hmm, I like the idea of cat shifters as guardians. The world building was interesting, but less than halfway through it took a back seat to the romance. The story kept me engaged up until that point and then it just fizzled out for me. The writing was pretty good, but I didn't care for the romance. It was abrupt and cliche. Bray was your usual sullen hero with killer looks, looking for something to claim. I'm not opposed to these type of characters as long as there is some substance and character deveolopment behind it, and there wasn't. Neomee was interesting, fiesty and strong. I appreciated that, but her sudden turn around towards the end needed a little more build up and writing behind it. All in all, almost ok for me, but mostly because of the cat shifter concept and world building in the beginning, not the story itself.

I first downloaded a sample of this on my kindle. It was a good tease, so I bought the book. I didn't realize that the sample was a large chunk of the book. I was looking for a good read... Instead, I paid $2.99 and finished in less than half a day. The storyline was short and very predictable.

Lost Potential
I lost sympathy for the "heroine". She was simply too obtuse to endure. It could have been a great read, but too much emphasis was placed on conflict and not enough on resolution.

I didn't like how Neomee was supposed to be a strong independant spirit, but then caved at the first pressure, and I felt that Bray was an ass with no realistic redeemable feauture that can warrant how Neomee instantly fell for him.

Nice read. A good change to have a stroy happening in ancient Egypt. But the cats world could have been more elaborate, the story longer.

I loved that this book was more of a cat chase "pun intended" and the female lead, Neomee, did not just jump in the sack with Bray right away. This book has a good balance and is a GREAT read!!

Very good story. Would have been nice for it to be expanded past were it finished. Felt incomplete.

As a lover of BDSM particularly Dom/sub and Master/slave dynamics, I loved this book from start to finish I was captivated the whole time.

I sort of liked the idea of this book but the characters did not quite work for me.
