The Meridian Gamble

Rate this book
Meridian is an average girl living in New York … or so she thinks. But everything changes when she meets Adam. He’s everything you could want in a man; gorgeous, charming, intelligent, successful. The only problem is, he’s a vampire.

Though she resists the relationship at first, Meridian finds that she’s overwhelmed by her attraction to Adam, and the thought that she knows him from the past. But how far back does the past reach? Meridian slowly begins to discover that she’s one of the Luminos, a race of people who have the ability to remember all of their past lives, who are locked in an eternal war with the vampires. And Adam has been searching for her throughout time. But the more she remembers from the lives she’s lived, the more she realizes how complicated the present really is, because Adam isn’t the only one looking for her. And now she’s playing a dangerous game, caught in the middle of a war, trying to find a way to save her long lost love … and to simply survive.

I never thought I liked vampire stories, but this book was really good. The reader definitely gets emotionally invested in the main character and her love interests. The writing style is enjoyable and flows well. I did feel the ending was a bit abrupt. However, overall I would definitely recommend this book!

WHAT DID I JUST READ!? I almost put the book down because of how shallow our main characters are and all they care about is food, fancy clothes, and the the typical "Omg Becky look at her butt" sort of personalty. And can I just say she makes some very poor choices in the most unbelievable ways. Will I ever read this again? NOPE! Do I recommend this to anyone, maybe if they want a good laugh at the cheesy over the top bits or like their books with shallow characters. If you do read it, read the prolog, skip to about 50-70% and only read that and just end it where her 2nd life ends. Side note, the author does have some potential to do some good storytelling, as proof with a few bits of the book I did enjoy. I think I would have liked a full book on Saga.

Why this got 2 stars and not one: The sort of prolong chapter and the middle of the book was actually entertaining and interesting. I liked reading about he past lives because they were far more developed than her current life. The story seemed at least half ways believable. Some parts were just SO over the top I had to laugh at it.
