I did not understand, at the time that I purchased this online, what it was. I have read both of Jenny Lawson's books and was eager for more so I blindly bought it only to find out it is really nothing more than a combination of cliff notes and questions about the book as if you were preparing a quiz. Pointless and boring. Waste of money. I need the "full-on" Jenny Lawson to enjoy. Not the edited version.
I found this book hysterically funny. I literally laughed out loud while reading it. I highly recomend this book. Yes, Jenny shares her struggles with mental illness. However, she chose to make herself and the reader understand how living with mental illness is not out of control 100% of the time. It is a challenge but there can be a lighter side if you embrace life and properly manage your mental health.
I read this after I blew up my canner and nearly burned my face off and melted my eyes. I just lied, though. I listened on audiobook because I couldn't see for 7 days. I needed this memoir more than cuts on an 8 year old need a bandaid. For medicinal and psychological healing. Thank you, Jenny. Forever fan.
The author just tried too hard. Some parts were good, but with most of it she just tried to be extreme without a plot or point. The best story was when her BFF helped her bury her dog. That was resoundingly real, and she toned down the language enough to make the message poignant.
