DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: Moscow shows you what other guidebooks only tell you.
I just spent a few days in Moscow and found this a nice resource to have when touring the city. The photos are great to get an idea of what there is to see. They're also helpful after the trip if, for example, you've forgotten which of the many churches you took a photograph of. It's definitely not a complete guide, so you'll still have to do additional research to find hotels, etc. (although they do list some) and I think the brief historical overviews could be improved (for example, russia has a long history with several rulers with the same name and it was not always clear when reading the text which one was being referred to). But all in all a great book for deciding what to do with an afternoon.
I also visited a few towns of the "golden ring" near Moscow and the book included a small amount of information on a couple of those attractions.
