Written in response to a perceived need for 'reader friendly' poetry, poetry that omits the often-used obscure, introspective imagery personal to the poet and replaces it with a clear, open and honest imagery that taps into the universal language of human emotion.
From the unconditional love for a newborn baby through to the darker aspects of abuse, from nights of passion through to the testing of one's faith, Encounters shines the spotlight on areas of life experienced by many, to a greater or lesser degree.
‘Encounters’, is about imagery and more importantly, the emotions evoked when reading the poems, be that love, hope, peace, hate, discomfort or laughter.
In addition to the more serious poems, there are those designed to look at the lighter side of life and those that form a ‘snapshot’ of an emotion. From the frustrations of computers that don't work, to those fleeting moments that cause your heart to skip a beat; that first flirtation or crush.
'Encounters' has something for everyone, not just the poetically minded.
