Regency Romance Novella. Miss Audrey Ellis has failed to catch a wealthy, titled husband in her two London Seasons, and merely wishes to return to her quiet country life, leaving high society behind her for good. But when an unexpected encounter brings the Duke of Halford into her life, she will have to decide if she has the courage to change her prudent, unadventurous plans and reach for something more.
William Langston, the Duke of Halford, wasn't looking for love. He came to Town to track down his sister's blackmailer, hoping to head off a scandal in the making. But the Viscount Claremont is more elusive than the duke was prepared for, and leads him on a chase through society's drawing rooms and balls. Will soon finds himself distracted from his mission by Audrey's fresh beauty and lack of pretension, something scarce in his rarefied world.
The pair are drawn together despite their differences, but as scandal looms and rumors spread, danger is closer than ever before.
This was a nice, sweet and short read. Anyone looking for a clean romance, this would be a nice add to their TBR.
Audrey is a down to earth girl and doesn't care for an aristocracy title. She wishes her mom would just drop it, and leave her alone instead of throwing her in front of every titled man she comes across. Audrey wants nothing more than a simple life, she'd be happy being a farmer's wife. That's how simple she wants things to be for her. And if by chance she happens to fall in love, then that would be a nice add on, but it is not exactly a requirement in her list.
Will is in town and not because he wants to be there. He's in town to right some things that have gone wrong for his sister. He never expects to cross paths with Audrey or even consider the thought of the possibility of marriage. After all in his eyes all women care for is the title and the money, but Audrey proves him wrong. She wants none of it, and that itself presents him with the challenge to woe her and make her his wife.
Again, overall I thought this was a quick short read. I don't really read clean romances (I like LOTS of spice in my books); however, I really liked this one. Olivia Kelly is a new author for me, and I am really looking forward to reading more of her work.
I follow her on Twitter (no I'm not a stalker), and I know she has lots of works and I can't wait to see them published.

All right, I did said at the beginning of the month, I might be posting more than one review. Since December is a crazy month, here is another review.
Well, today's selection is a sweet read that has nothing to do with Christmas, but still a sweet read. Olivia Kelly has just written a novella called The Lady and the Duke. I would like to share with you what it's about and my thoughts.
Miss Audrey Ellis is on her second season and would like nothing more than to go back home in the country. However, her mother has other plans. Lady Witte would love to see her daughter married to someone with a title, maybe even a Duke. What are you going to do with a mother like that?
William Langston, the Duke of Halford, came to London to figure out why his sweet sister was being blackmail by Viscount Claremont. Since that had to come first there was really no time to partake in the season. After all he's not really in the market to find a bride. Although, Will kind of crashed into Audrey and nothing is ever quite the same.
Truly a sweet read. Here's why: Audrey is a darling girl even though she tends to be klutzy with her head in the clouds at times, and would prefer to be reading a book. Nothing wrong with blue-stocking tendency. Then you have William and his dimples. You gotta love a hero with dimples, I don't know what it is about dimples. Anyways. I really enjoyed there awkward encounters and how he forgets the main purpose for his London visit. I liked the story. I also like how the heroine tries to be herself even when it's not popular. I enjoy seeing how Will is willing to accept her the way she is. So, if you are looking for a quick "sweet" read, I would no further and checkout The Lady and the Duke.
Although Jane Austen is my heroine and Pride and Prejudice is my hands down favorite book, I don't read much historical fiction. The Lady and the Duke by Olivia Kelly is a fun read, whether you're a historical buff or not. Audrey is a young lady whose mother is desperate to see her get married off after two failed seasons of seeking an eligible match. I loved that Audrey was unconventional and a bit independent for a young lady of that time period. She meets her match when she falls for the most eligible bachelor in ton, even if she doesn't know it at the time.
The story is lively and has lots of action, intrigue, and good old-fashioned misunderstandings. Olivia Kelly packs so much into the story I nearly forgot it was a novella. Kelly has a fun, lively voice and I look forward to reading her next story.
This was a really cute, quick read. This story hits all the right points of a romance. There's our heroine who wants nothing more than to leave London and escape society. Add our hero, who isn't interested in a romance, he's got his plans and won't be deterred. They meet and both their plans change. There's the bump in the road that causes a misunderstanding and brings to light some truths that neither was ready to admit. William's reason for being in London part of the story was as good as the romance. I'll admit I was thrown a bit as to what really was going on between William's sister and Viscount Claremont.
If you like regency romances and need a read for a lazy afternoon, this book is a must!
This is only the second Regency I've read, and I found it to be so sweet and entertaining! Audrey is such a likable character, down to earth and true to herself. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely little escape.
Such a beautiful story! I love the time period! Audrey is my kind of gal and I love Will's no nonsense style. He's not a stuffy Duke. Loved the whole story!
