Saving Jebediah: Another True Story from the Zombie Apocalypse

Rate this book
This book has great zombie action and has been a constant fixture on many of the eBook best seller charts.

Everything seems to go wrong when zombies invade the small town of Sigel. Join Max Talbot as he goes on a breakneck paced journey to save his uncle Jebediah. This book has been described as oozing Redneck and a Dukes of Hazzard like twist to the zombie apocalypse, so break out your favorite flannel shirt and come along for the ride.

This story was written as fan fiction and later posted on Mark Tufo's website. The zombies in this story are modeled after the ones from his stories.

After reading this short story please look for my latest book series. The first is called, "Parasite; The True Story of the Zombie Apocalypse." It's not only a zombie apocalypse novel but it explains the science involved in the dead coming to life.

As one reviewer stated, "Such good story telling. Zombielicious. I am remembering biology class as they explain why people are turning into zombies and clues to stop the infection. Adventure, politicians, lawyers and scientist * oh my *... Very good book."

-Pueblerinos estereotipados estadounidenses contra zombis.-

Género. Novela corta.

Brilliant story

This story was great it felt relatable it really pulled you in. I would like to read more of this author. Myself and my daughter are dyslexic. I find it inspiring that this writer was able to supersede your disability and write amazing storys. I have used this as an inspirational successful story for my daughter. To show when you have a passion for something you can work through your adverse with hard work. Thanks for your honesty of what you have been through it takes a lot of courage to do that!

Family comes first

Nice short tale of a young man hoping to find his elderly uncle as a zombie outbreak endangers his small town. The locals think that old Jebediah is mad but his nephew still feels obliged to try and save him.

Ward has a nice mix of both fast and slow zombies which makes things even more dangerous. This is a decent introduction to the author's ongoing series.

Fantastic!

I'm usually left unfulfilled when reading a novelette or short story. Not so with this one! A great build up and creative characters to enjoy! Definitely a must read.

Doug Ward is a fellow western Pennsylvanian and a zombie fan. His perspective on zombies comes from the number of parasites that live in this world-sized petri dish called planet earth. This short story touches briefly on this with respect to our hero's reluctance to use his shot gun after it has been splattered with a zombie's blood. In most stories, the hero would wipe the gun off on his shirt and keep going. This comes into play later in the story.

The story takes place in the actual (unincorporated) town of Sigel, PA (HINT: you have to be going there to get there). The people shown in Saving Jebediah are representative of the people who live in this area of Jefferson County, PA. They are rural people who love to hunt and trash talk about cars and trucks. Some might call them rednecks; let's just say they're decent people who don't eat foie gras or drive fancy cars.

This is a standard zombie rescue story, but with some differences that make the story stand out on its own. Plus, given that this was originally written as fan fiction for Mark Tufo website, the author can be forgiven for what essentially has become a prequel to a trilogy. The editing in the e-book could have stood another once-over, but the errors found were minor.

BOTTOM LINE: A free book that can be read in about 45 minutes? What's not to like?

First, the author does acknowledge this as fan fiction, so perhaps my score is a little harsh. I give it a 2.5 but I did round up to 3 on the display instead of down to 2 because with edits I might be less distracted. I am unfamiliar with Mr. Ward, but I am a fan of Mark Tufo and his [[ASIN:145151705X Zombie Fallout]] series. The story itself is a fairly cut-and0dried rescue tale. The characters are painted as folks you might expect in the background of Dukes of Hazzard (and I mean that as a compliment...the 'redneck oozes from the pages). So while the characters may be stereotypes, they are well done stereotypes. Some edits, especially in the dialog, would be very beneficial. Overall, it was a quick read that passed the time on a lunch break.

3.5 stars :)
Fun, quick read - interesting to read another author's adaptation of (Zombie Fallout's) "Talbot" family. Originally posted as a fan fic, I think. Now also included as a short story by the author. My curiosity got the best of me, and I downloaded this. While I wasn't disappointed in his writing, (I am a big fan of Mr. Ward's own zombie series) - the fault was that I had downloaded this book after three-day Zombie Fallout "bender".

I think if I had given this book more of a stand alone chance (not bunched in with the readings of the original series) - it would have received a higher rating. My fault. I will definitely try reading it again in another month.

3 1/2 rounded up to 4 cuz that's how rounding works (except where I work - go figure)

Both fast and slow zombies abound in this short fan fiction tale of Max Talbot, who sets off to rescue his uncle Jebediah during a zombie outbreak. Lots of rednecks (gotta love it), Rambo-like forest traps, blood and guts.

A nice, quick read.

3.5-4 stars. Couldn't decide if I should do 3 or 4 so upped to a 4. Probably because it involved my favorite zombie author Mark Tufo's Talbots. It was a good read. Quick but just enough zombies for me. I'll look for more by this author for sure.

Nothing happens in this story.

I'm serious, the main character goes to a hut, finds his uncle dead and leaves. Oh yeah and there's some zombies that are there somewhere in the background.

You can ignore this one.

This was a good story but sad too- I don't give spoilers! I also enjoyed the 'Talbot' honor.
