Adult Fairy Tales #1

Beauty and the Beast

While visiting her family, Beauty narrowly avoids a drunken kiss during her sister's wedding festivities. Back in the Beast's manor, though, she catches a glimpse of her brother and his lover through a magic mirror, and begins to wonder what it would be like to be kissed and caressed...

In this erotic retelling of the classic fairy tale, Beauty discovers her own sexuality and learns to share it with the Beast. While the Beast lingers on the border between animal and man, he relies on Beauty's love to help him come to terms with himself. If you’re over 18 and looking for a character driven, sexy fairy tale with paranormal overtones, this novelette is for you.

“Now I can read and reread the mommy version while my kid watches the animated version over and over and over and…” –a mother refilling her glass with “grownup juice”

“Quirky humor and interesting language add freshness to this retelling.” –an entertained beta reader

“When are we going to start researching the next one?” – the author’s husband

I have to admit that this isn't the time of book I would normally pick up. I also don't know how it compares to other Erotica titles considering that I don't read very much erotica. I found the sex scenes to be far better than what appears in the Anita Blake series and more on par with Jacqueline Carey's historical fantasy, just without the bondage bit.

I was very surprised by this book, I must admit. It wasn't at all which I thought it would be (some weird beastial sex mash up thing. I actually was cringing when I "brought it. But I thought, it's free so no risk). The story, however, is a nice retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story, admitting with a few sex scenes between people who actually love each other.

What I really like is the fact that Nicole Dreadful really knows her tale. If you have read the various French versions, you will see them reflected here, as well as hints of McKinley and Disney. Dreadful updates the tale - the family is close and the sister not evil - but she also deals with what critics believe the original tale to be about. The theory is that the original story was about finding happiness or lessening fear on behalf of the women who were facing arranged marriages. That it is, in part, leaving one family and joining another, of losing fear of sex. This idea of the fear of sex is what Dreadful focuses on and what makes this short story rise above the all too common romance retellings. What Dreadful explores is coming to terms not all with sexuality in general, but your own. I got this for free, but I intend to buy the next in the series. Very good.

Great story

I really liked this erotic fairytale. I could always use more sex, more details but overall I really liked it and will be reading the rest of the series.

A dark gothic romance featuring Beauty and The Beast twist? Take my money!
Not 5 stars but still enjoyable.

What on earth did I just read? This is the oddest retelling ive read so far. Sex scenes simply for the sake of it make up half this, rather short, book. First we hear ||Beauty's fathers memories if sex with his wife||then we read about ||beauty watching her brother be intimate with his girl||, I couldnt believe it when || the magical invisible fairies start pleasuring beauty at her request||, then finally ||she is intimate with the beast, though hes a man by that point||. The sex scenes in this book were just completely unnecessary and didnt add anything to the story. It is a shame because there were some little parts of worth in this book. Her brothers ||child for example and the fact that her brother is willing to support beauty and stand with her, forcing their father to accept both his grandchildren|| I did like. Overall though I would not reccomend this book, even for just smut its not great.

A different twist for Beauty and her Beast.

I love re-tellings. And this one gives a whole new spin on Beauty and her family, and beast and his curse. It’s always amazing to see how others would re-write a classic with an adult view twist. and this one definitely gets 5 stars from me.

I finished it in two days. The first sexual scene is with a woman watching her older brother with his girl; that is gross. Also, where did their son go when they were handling their business?

At least the main character said she felt guilty for watching her brother have sex with his girlfriend. You should, Beauty. You should feel guilty.

I've been through several different "Beauty and the Beast" retellings and although this one was accurate to a different movie depiction of the tale I've seen recently, it was just likable for me. Nothing too special about it.

Great quickie

I love beauty and the beast stories...they are of courage and redemption. This story kept in the tradition, but was a little to short for the reader to also fall in love with the beast

Way too short, I want more!

This was surprisingly good and I would love to see the author turn this into a full length novel.
It was steamy/erotic and not just between the two main characters.

I would like to read more by this author but I worry that since they’re all so short I’d just feel the same way.

Bad....

This pales in comparison to any other rendition I have read thus far (excluding the version I just rated for those following my progress).

The characters are flat, the sex isn't all it's cracked up to be, and the plot was practically butchered.

The story plot mostly runs parallel to Robin McKinley's "Beauty" for the first 70%, though with a few changes here and there. Time flew quickly, so one chapter lasts around a week, and then the time flies by months a time, next thing you know, it's been a year.

There was no incentive for Beauty to come back when she leaves the first time, but she does and starts picturing the Beast kissing her?

In the opening, you find out Beauty is an illegitimate child born of a mistress, but that fact is ignored the rest of the novel.

It didn't hold together, is what I'm saying....

Unexpected

When I started this book I was wanting something between 50 Shades of Grey and The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, and even though it was a good book overall I felt like I was reading your average romance novel. There was only a couple of "erotic" moments and they were average and very short. Granted apparently this was a short novel, but there was barely any erotica in this book and it wasn't that erotic. I love the fairy tale story line, I like how the story went, I had hoped it would have been a little longer, everything seemed rushed through, and again there wasn't much in the way of erotic. Overall the story has great potential, but I was kinda sad that it wasn't like I'd hoped.

I don't usually read adult fairy tales that lean toward the erotic, but it was a short story that gave a different interpretation to the classic well-known fairy tale so I thought why not. I cannot speak too much for the erotic side, but it did deliver a structured story for a short story. Yes, it actually have a story. Also, the erotic elements were not overly done. Nothing rough like I heard some tends to be. The reader can see the main character slowly develop from an innocent girl to a woman who starts coming into her own. For a short story, I thought that was well-done. I might give her other stories a try.

"Each time she wondered,'why would the Beast like to kiss me?' "

A Merchant steals a rose from a garden. The garden belongs to a Beast. In repayment for stealing the rose, The Beast requests to be with the Merchant's youngest daughter. Beauty willfully goes to live with the Beast in an attempt to save her father.

The romance is about a young girl who knows no other love than that of her family, overcomes her fears and forms a family of her own.

Great combination of fairytale and erotica

A simple read following the standard outline of Beauty and the Beast with enough erotica to satisfy. The characters were not developed as in depth as some non-erotic adaptations of this tale, but they did have about the same development as any standard fairy tale. Better than other erotic adaptations of this story.

Well done. She stayed true enough to the original story but added just enough flare to make it her own. The sex scenes were quite good if you don't compare them to the likes of Julie Garwood or others in her genre.

A lovely little tale, though not quite as dirty as I had hoped. She keeps a fairytale diction throughout, which lends itself to the story, though not really to the naughty parts.

Not as steamy as it appeared

The sample showed promise of a steamy adult story but then it turned out to be PG rated instead. It was not as it appeared in the sample.

A quick fun story

This is a romantic quick retelling of a classic fairytale. Though it's listed as erotic the sexual parts of the story are quite tame.
