I LOVE to tell stories! It is just about my favorite thing to do. Ever since I was a little girl, I've LOVED a good romance.
But not just ANY romance. No way! I have to have adventure, excitement, danger, thrills and chills as well. What's the point in just a regular old, PREDICTABLE romance? If I can tell halfway through the book what is going to happen, where's the fun in that?
As if you can't already tell, I love to read about as much as I love to write! I read romance, mystery, horror, fan fiction (Mostly Harry Potter or True Blood) and anything else that catches my eye.
I also write stories for younger readers age 14 and up; YA novels under the pen name of Rowan Shannigan. I'm working on my second novel in the first series I've started under that alias. I like movies, but I have to be in the mood for them. I'm sassy, stubborn, smart, silly and always wanting to know what people like or don't like about my stories! read the novel and like it.
the short summary flashback and then the story of how Sparrow childhood was and her terrible memory of how her family was slaughtered by a serial killer was very very sad. it did make perfect sense to me the strong desire on Sparrow of becoming a cop and protect innocent people so they don't suffer what she suffered in her childhood.
in the meantime the hunk alien king Navar out of desperation for saving the extinction of his species did not have other choice but to make a deal with slavers to abduct fertile human women from earth and bring them to his planet and see if those women can interbreed with the males of his species. in other words..."mars need women" LOL.
i justified king Navar hard decision since this is survival of the fitness thing and we can not forget Pellegrino’s Three Laws of Alien Behavior: 1) Their survival will be more important than our survival. 2) Wimps don’t become top dogs. 3) They will assume that the first two laws apply to us.
i also like the author created an unique penis for this hunk alien male species LOL.
also king Navar treat Sparrow very kindly the whole time and also while mating with her.
if such planet with such alien philogynist's men existed, i would go there right now and marriage one of them and gladly give him all the children he want he he he!

First in book series (?) from a new to me author.
Interesting and promising premise that I have seen so many times before but still hope that a new or different angle will have me falling in love with it and add another author to my 'must buy' category.
Unfortunately other than a few variances this is a cookie cutter developed plot/storyline. The main reason though is, IMHO, that it is so short that it never really had a chance to develop itself. so many facts/world building was stated without explanation or back up that I just felt like Alice falling in a whole in "Alice In Wonderland". One non spoiler. What the heck is the significance (if there is one) of the different colors of the aliens? Just didn't get it. Also, regarding the twists and turns factor in this book. While the twists did make for a good story line premise and reveal, the lack of any supporting evidence or hints, it just didn't make sense. Sparrow, a police detective, could handle bad guys and crime on Earth or she wouldn't be in that position. Yet, when she finds out about the actual existence of aliens, she calmly and passively goes with the flow?
There was just too many distracting secondary characters, subplots, and incomplete world building in this book for me to enjoy it as presented. A case where the short word count did not work. Which is a shame as I wanted to like the overall premise of this series and see the others get a HEA story of their own.

As a novel definitely two stars but as novella it probably been more. The plot was pretty interesting. It just needed a lot more substance. There was a ton of jumping around and little to no flow in the story. Sad because I wanted to like it. Good characters but needed more of pretty much everything.

This book went to fast and didn't really create a believeable story. I mean one minute the silver hunk guy was all like "I hate hairy primates" then minutes later he was all like "I have been waiting so long for you." WTF. I mean they didn't show him getting over his human issues at all.
