Susan lives out on the Canadian west coast surrounded by open water, dear family and good friends. She’s jumped out of perfectly good airplanes on purpose and accidentally swum with sharks on the Great Barrier Reef. If the world ends, she plans to survive as the spunky, comedic sidekick to the heroes of the new world, because she’s too damned short and out of shape to make it on her own for long.
Writing is her joy, her escape from reality and the only way she knows of to quiet the nagging harridan of a muse the universe assigned to her.

Saved by Sin is a different kind of read for me. Paranormal books are not a stretch for me at all. However, I’ve never really gotten into books with ghosts. Even when I was reading Stephen King all the time, I never read about ghosts.
I’m happy to say Saved by Sin popped my ghost cherry!
Michelle has an ex-boyfriend that is so intent on keeping her, that’s he’s made the ultimate sacrifice to do it. He’s committed suicide and he’s come back to haunt her. In an effort to keep her sanity, she runs to the family cabin. Here is where she meets Sinjin as he’s recovering and recuperating from injuries.
Michelle and Sinjinn have an insta-love connection. As in less than 24 hours insta-love connection. The why of this insta-love connection is explained later in the book. Since this is a paranormal romance, complete with ghosts, I can work with the explanation.
While I definitely enjoyed this book and plan to read more from this series and the author Susan Hayes, there were some things I would have liked to have seen in the book. I like a lot of tension in books I read. Whether that tension is sexual, emotional, or physical, doesn’t matter. I like intense situations in books. There were lots of opportunity to really increase the tension in this book, but emotional and sexual. I would have LOVED to have seen that. Now, that being said, it’s still a good book without the intense tension.
I love the name of the security firm Sinjin works for. They name and what it means is awesome and perfect for this agency. I also really like the reason for the name and why the people hired to work there were hired. It gives it more meaning. Makes it personal to the people who work there.
Sin is the perfect tortured soul. He makes mistakes but does them with the best intentions. Michelle is great as well. She needs help, but refuses to be a victim. She takes control and stands up for herself.
The cast of secondary characters are great as well. I can’t wait to get their stories! We only met a few of them, but based on the first story and the number of peoples that work for the Paladins, there is plenty of room for more stories.
Michelle is haunted by a man who refuses to let her go. He is a man she is incapable of resisting, but loving her just may put him in the eye of the storm.
Sinjin, aka Sin, is unable to let go of a past he refuses to leave behind. Michelle may be the one who shows him that the past can only control you if you let it.
What do you do when the man who stalks you is dead? You find a soul mate willing to stand beside you against the unimaginable and accepts destiny.
Saved by Sin is a book that will take the reader for a whirlwind ride. I have fallen in love with all of the characters. The action moves rapidly and sweeps readers into a world they can never imagine. It is a first for this seasoned paranormal reader, and I will be looking for all the books in the series as I want to see what happens to the characters introduced in Michelle and Sin's adventure.
Talk about taking stalking to the ultimate level, Saved by Sin did just that. I was sucked in from the beginning of this book, and as I kept reading and turning page, after page, I fell into the zone. The one where I’m right there, experiencing the ups/downs and twists/turns. I really felt the emotion of the characters as they practically jumped off the page.
Loved it! If I didn't have every day life things to do, I would have finished in one sitting lol. Robert, typical psycho controlling ex, is hellbent on tearing Michelle down even after death. I have to say, that is one determined control freak, lol. I liked the story a lot, it was fast paced and full of action, which is definitely my kind of book. I cannot wait for more Paladin Protection Agency stories.
On the day of Robert Tanner’s funeral, Michelle Jamieson went out running to quiet her memories. His death was really not her fault. He had been verbally and physically abusive until she finally had to walk away and he just couldn’t handle it. Even his suicide note was designed to hurt her and bury her in guilt and fear. Even after the funeral, his mother came to her apartment to say insulting things to her and inform her that she was filing a lawsuit because her darling son had left everything he owned to Michelle – and Mrs. Tanner intended to get it all back for herself… to remember him by, of course!
At 4:00 in the morning, she was awakened by a voice calling, “Chelle”. She couldn’t get back to sleep and walked to the balcony where the wind had picked up. Again she heard the voice and felt something move over her leg. She ran inside and locked the balcony door. With all the lights on, she could not see anyone. Panicked, she forced herself to go back to bed.
Sinjin Heath was doing his swimming workout in the lake when he heard a car coming. Hoping it would head to the cabins at the far end of the lake, he could not believe it headed for the same lot his rental was in! It started to get windy so he headed for shore – strange, this spot rarely had wind because of the surrounding hills.
As Michelle decided to close the windows again as the winds got stronger, one slammed as he reached for it. She turned around and a man was standing in the doorway! He apologized for startling her. Then he introduced himself and she asked if he could help her check the generator. He held her hand and they stepped outside while the wind gusted heavily around them. By the time they finished with the generator, they both felt the attraction and he kissed her. As they returned to the cabin in each other’s arms, the wind outside howled with a fury!
Michelle, taking a bath, is forcibly touched and held in the tub. She flings herself over the edge and runs outside. Sinjin heard her screams and held her as the wind screamed, “Mine!” – and Sinjin heard it! Two people, strong in their own ways, need each other’s help to get their lives back. How do you fight a ghost? What can they do to stop this terror? Is Sinjin able to protect her?
This author’s writing style is amazing. The way she describes the environment surrounding the characters, as well as the emotions felt by the main characters as they meet and learn more about each other is so vivid and real that the reader could actually be standing right there! She builds up a whole world right around you and it’s so realistic. That’s how the reader is put on edge immediately when the haunting aspects begin – because it feels like it’s actually happening! The story line was great, with the proper amount of tension to keep the suspense moving the reader forward. Characters were challenged with circumstances that allowed their skillsets to show to best advantage, so the reader really knew what they were like. This was a fantastic book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I definitely intend to check out the author’s other books as well!
Saving Michelle is the second book in the Guardians Series. Michelle is finally free from her abusive ex, but on the night of his funeral, she starts hearing his voice again and runs scared. At her family cabin, she runs into Sinjin, a man who is resting after his traumatic recent past. When he starts hearing and feeling her dead ex, he calls in reinforcements through his security team, and they all race to rescue and save Michelle. But can Sinjin forgive himself for his past so that he can find a future and his fate with Michelle?
This book was a pleasant surprise because the first book in the series centered around vampires and Saving Michelle focused on ghosts. I loved the shift in the paranormal world and I absolutely loved the end of the book and what it means for future books! Michelle was such a sweet character and I can’t even imagine what she went through in the beginning of the book. Sinjin was so full of protective energy and guilt, but I loved how much he went through in order to keep his promise to save Michelle. I think one of my favorite parts of this book was watching the skeptical men learn the truth and actually believe! I love some of the directions that the plot took and loved how Michelle also saved Sinjin! I absolutely loved reading this book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
I felt like this entire story was too rushed. There was not enough time dedicated to setting up the premise and not enough time dedicated to developing an ACTUAL relationship between Sin and Michelle. They were supposed to be soulmates but the first we hear of it is when they’re TOLD it almost right at the end of the book. That shit needs developing, foreshadowing. If they had had lifetimes together before maybe a dream sequences or a random memories scattered about, to add to the vaguely “magical” thing they seemed to be aiming for. There were small (and I mean SMALL) instances of “hey I feel a bit of deja vu” but they were unremarkable and easily forgotten.
There needed to be MORE STORY not this half baked idea. Though it is an interesting concept I have seen done better in other books. (Better Homes & Hauntings is different but has a similar vibe story wise. The main man on that one is an adorkable nerd soft-boy not a warrior). Also who is Sin really? We got nothing about him besides his warrior’s honour and penchant for survivors guilt… no history, no background. Parents or Cabbage patch? No idea.
The second book in this series is just as engaging as the first. The first book dealt with a paranormal defending his mate from vampires. In this book, Sinjin is human but a warrior none the less. When Michelle's abusive ex kills himself so he can haunt her for eternity, she thinks she is going bonkers. When she escapes her place in the city to get away from his ghost she finds Sinjin. I loved the way that he listened to her and weighed the evidence of what she was saying and believed everything. This was so cool. I love the way White Knight Security handled Michelle's ex and has adapted their business to help others in similar situations. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Loved this one! Saving Michelle had me hooked from the moment the ghost of Michelle's ex started haunting her. Oh, and I did not put it down! (shhhhh don't tell anyone) A chance encounter with Sinjin really kicks up the activity, in more ways then one. I loved her sassy attitude and her determination to not let the ghost win. Sin, well like a typical male we can beat his tail. They both have this idea that the other would be safer if they were not there, hello. There is an HEA, but the trip there oh holy cow! Filled with danger, heat, and sass. Bring on book 3!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Sinjin and Michelle are great together! Michelle’s possessive and increasingly abusive ex-boyfriend killed himself and still manages to invade her life. She decides to get away to her family’s vacation home, where she meets a neighbor. She and Sinjin have an instant, high voltage connection. I enjoy Michelle and Sinjin, even though Sinjin’s overdeveloped sense of responsibility gets in the way of his happiness. This story has everything: danger, thrills, soulmates (yes, hot romance), humor, and some very unusual methods of resolving the problems. I love it!
Just when I think Susan Hayes' books can't get any better, she proves me wrong. Saving Michelle is one of the best stories I have read in a long time. From the very start Ms. Hayes captures you and take you on an amazing adventure of the supernatural kind. The chemistry between the main characters is off the charts and the secondary characters are very likable. All in all an amazing read.
I love to see a woman come into her own. Michelle has run from her abusive ex for too long. When she finally stands up for herself she finds help in White Knight Security but to battle a ghost takes more than even they have on hand. Along the way Michelle and Sinjin start a sexy romance.
The story is cute, simple and it flows nicely. It lacks depth or more twists but I suppose it's a good plot to connect the universe of with the first book ("Defending Kyra") that is more paranormal with the more human world that envelops this book. This creates a universe that promises to be interesting and that makes me want to keep reading this series.
I thought it was a very interesting story, I liked both main characters and side characters as well. It hit one of my pet peeves when one is threatened to be spanked as punishment. Otherwise good story
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. Sinjin_Michelle: Never say never. Sinjin will never fall for someone long term. Yeah until Michelle comes into his life telling of a ghost that is haunting her. So, what you gonna do, Become a Ghostbuster. While Michelle becomes a ball buster.
This was not what I expected but I liked it. This is a well written story with great characters. I think you will enjoy this one I know I did. This one is a little different from my usual stories, but it was great. I would encourage everyone to go get this one it is worth your time.
A well-written story that I enjoyed reading looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
