"Over 400 step by step breads, muffins, cakes, pies, tarts, cookies and bars." I "borrowed" this book from my mum when I got interested in baking - particularly in breads. There are bread recipes for sourdough, different rye breads, graham bread, barley bread, breadsticks, baps, cobs, sticks, plaits, grain breads, oatmeal bread,,soda breads, herb breads, breads with cheese, ham, courgette, sun dried tomato, olive, saffron, spinach & bacon, prosciutto, onion, walnut, prune, orange, apricot, apple, potato, pumpkin, banana, sweet potato, corn, focaccias, bloomers, malt loaf, flowerpot loaves, bara brith, more than a dozen specialised french breads, pumpernickel, Vort Limpa, lusse Brod, Knackerbrod, danish Crown, Julekage, Pan de Cebada, Pan Gallego, Ensaimadas, Polenta bread, Scroll, Pane Toscano, Schiacciata, Christopsomo, Tsoureki, pitta bread, Challah, bagels, monkey bread, fantans, barbari, Mexican Bread of the dead, rotis, naan... I'm going to be busy with that lot for a while, and that's only a quarter of this beautifully illustrated book! The recipes seem to work well in terms of timing and quantities of ingredients, which are given in metric and there's a useful equipment, ingredients and techniques section at the front. It does lack conversion information between different types of measure, which means fiddling with my electronic scales a bit. My mum wants it back but I keep "forgetting..."
