Fast read quilting pattern book

I really enjoyed this fast read with quilting patterns using jelly rolls, layer cakes, and charm packs for quilts. Photos and instructions appear very clear and easy to follow. Beautiful patterns! Now to pick one to start on!

THIS is the third book I have bought from Pam and Nicky Lintott.... why because I have so many self cut jelly rolls and charm squares. My MAIN complaint with jelly roll, charm and layer cake patterns is the lack of contrast using commercial pre-cuts, that is one reason I cut my own. I also am living out of my stash so it has been a challenge picking fabric that work together.

Having made a couple of quilts following the LINTOTT's directions I sometimes find that the techniques needed to use pre-cuts is not traditional and is much pickier to get the correct size block. You have have to be very accurate and fussy with your workmanship there is not much room for error. Many of the blocks are built on blocks with a block concept and results in a more complex looking quilt... ie pinwheels within larger pinwheels, nine patch or four patch centers.

I loved:

I got this from the library at the same time that I checked out the first layer cake, jelly roll, & charm quilts book. I admit, I liked more that was in the first book better.

My favorite was Simplicity on page 60. They have it as a layer cake pattern, though I think I'd change the width of the strips and consider doing it with a jelly roll. I also liked Tumblers on page 48, but I'm not great with odd angles and I don't generally like it when patterns cut off on the sides, so that is one I'm not that likely to make.

Pg. 70 Dancing Star Quilt is the pattern I used for the 2014 Morley Library auction. Made it out of wool and cottons.

Pg. 62 Simplicity Quilt is the pattern I adapted for my cashmere bed quilt.

I love how each quilt is shown made out of 2 different color schemes. it really gives you a good idea of the possibilities.

Precuts

I love this book. I have bookmarked several patterns and I hope to do one soon. The pictures are great and the instructions look very clear. I love working with precuts.

Consider buying this book: black & white pinwheel, light and dark strips, multi color hexagon circle blocks, old fashioned nine patch. Worth checking out again.

Great ideas. I see one of these in my future. Glad to see instructions on making alternate sizes.
