Harnessing children's natural curiosity about the world, this engaging series introduces kids to key science concepts through a simple question-and-answer format.Absorbing artwork illustrates how friction, slopes, pushing, and pulling affect motion.
Clint Twist has written more than 85 books for U.K. and U.S. publishers in the fields of science, nature, and history, and for readers of all ages. Some of his books include Charles Darwin and the Beagle Adventure, The Mythology Handbook (with Dug Steer), and The Oceanology Handbook.
Twist does some things better than Natalie Hyde does in her Pushing and Pulling text. For instance, he addresses friction, slopes, load, and squeezing forces. Having said that, I'll also state that his explanation of pushing and pulling forces is less accessible to the target audience than Hyde's, and the language is a little more challenging: "position", "applied", "relation". Hyde also uses the term "gravity", which Twist does not, even when he has the chance in his discussion of slopes.
