This issue of the magazine that explores "Horror & Exploitation Fare from the 1960s & 1970s" explores cinematic cannibalism, and includes scads of film reviews. This issue also includes an interview with Hills Have Eyes star Michael Berryman, as well as a retrospective of and index for Stanley Publications, who were responsible for such monster magazines as Adventures in Horror, Chilling Tales of Horror, Ghoul Tales, Horror Stories, Shock and Stark Terror. From the folks who brought you GICK! magazine.
A solid read overall that focuses on cannibal films, which is near and dear to my heart. There are other articles and features, of course, but the cover tells it all. I really wish there would have been more, but I understand space constraints tied to budget. If Stine could not give readers more, I wish I would have gotten something new from it. I suppose that my knowledge on cannibal films is probably greater than the average film fan's, so I can't really fault Stine for not offering up some new informational nuggets for me to digest. I get that. I think that with Stine, I am always wanting something greater, and he usually delivers.
Still a solid read, though, if only for the other features on Stanley Publications, and the interview with Michael Berrymen.
