Ομολογώ ότι μέχρι να διαβάσω και τελειώσω το βιβλίο αυτό, δεν ήμουν μεγάλος fan του Zach Even-esh. Δεν πούλαγε τίποτα cool μέσω της δουλειάς του και ζήταγε σκληρή προσπάθεια, μίλαγε για κάτι που λέγεται "ανάρρωση" και δεν προωθούσε προγράμματα bodybuilding. Ήρθα σε πρώτη επαφή με την δουλειά του πριν περίπου 7-8 χρόνια.
Σήμερα, αφότου έχω προπονήσει αρκετό κόσμο, έχω περάσει από την φάση να θέλω να γυμναστώ αλλά να μην μπορώ για διάφορους λόγους αλλα και έχοντας διαβάσει εκατοντάδες έρευνες για προπόνηση, πρέπει να πω ότι ο Zach με χαστούκισε γερά με αυτό του το βιβλίο.
Εδώ έχουμε έναν άνθρωπο που βάζει την γυμναστική ένα κλικ κάτω από την οικογένειά του, που έκανε ένα μεγάλο ταξίδι αναζήτησης για να δει τι θα βοηθήσει τα "παιδιά" του (τους αθλητές του) και τώρα, παρουσιάζει όλη του την γνώση μέσα σε ένα βιβλίο.
Αν υπάρχει όμως κάτι που λάτρεψα είναι η έμπνευση που εκπέμπει κάθε σελίδα της ιστορίας του Zach. Με την μόδα που έχουν φέρει τα "motivational video" όπου είναι επιλεγμένη μουσική, ωραία κορμιά και επιτυχία, είναι ωραίο να μπορούν κάποιες σελίδες να σε κάνουν να θες να αφήσεις το βιβλίο και να πας να προπονηθείς.
Θα ήθελα να το προτείνω σε όλους που ασχολούνται με την γυμναστική να το διαβάσουν, αλλά όπως και εγώ πριν κάποια χρόνια, ίσως να μην είναι έτοιμοι για αυτόν τον άγνωστο γίγαντα
First off this isn't a book for people who want a fiction or non fiction book. It's a book on training to get fit and buff. I read this book thinking that 'hey it seems like one of those book that say like "Something for dummies" or whatever," and it was, he (the author) does actually tell you what he did to get fit and the most efficient way to do so. But what I thought was cool is that it's mostly written in his perspective, he tells you how he got really strong like he was there speaking to a crowd or telling you his story.
This inspiring book holds the best overall training system I’ve ever come across. Combine his methods with Old-Time Strongman training and it may be the best training system in the world.
A decent, interesting reading, however I did not end this with the same conclusion the author had. Too much emphasis on the author's personal life and his early days in the wrestling community turned this exactly into a basic, and pretty much forgettable "How to", surely nothing close to having a life changing effect.
In my book, one should not fill pages with overused quotes by Bruce Lee and still expect greatness. On the other hand, the ending story concerning the author's grandfather, a man by the name of Jacob Lichtman, truly touched my heart as imposing family figures are often too hard to find nowadays.
This is now one of my favourite books. Zach Even-Esh is such an influential person in my life and i strive to be like him. In this book he really shows you how you can kick ass and become strong in all areas of your life. It is a very inspiring and instructional book, if you need a wake up call or want to just learn how you can improve your fitness and become strong i recommend this book. This should be a recommended reading for everyone wanted to kick ass in life.
Decent motivational text, if you need that. Pretty good idea for a couple of different types of training sessions.
Unfortunately, control Aaron Ryan to the title, there is nothing encyclopedic about this book. I had actually ordered the hard copy before I ordered the Kindle version. I cancelled the order for the hard copy, because while this MIGHT be worth the Kindle price, it's definitely not worth the hard copy price, to me.
The part where he tells his story and the motivational speech are really inspiring. However, the technical part is rather poorly presented. The reader needs to be familiar with training in general and to know the terminology to be able to understand.
