In this book, Keith Drury outlines what it means to be called to lifelong ministry. He defines a call as "an inner conviction from God, confirmed by the church, that one is commissioned to lifelong, vocational service as an equipping minister for the people of God." He discusses how one is to know if they are called to ministry, what ministry looks like, women in ministry, how God has been preparing you for ministry your whole life, how to prepare for ministry now, the difference between God's calling and God's leading, marriage/family in ministry life, ordination, etc.

I found Drury's comments on all of these subjects to be insightful and enlightening. This is definitely a book for anyone considering a life of ministry and is a book to be reviewed once a year (or so) through one's ministerial education and one's first ten years (or so) of ministry. I greatly enjoyed it and would recommend it to others.

This book showed me what ministry would be like on a day-to-day basis and how it works practically. I'd recommend this book to anyone considering Christian ministry as their life's work.

Pretty solid book on discerning ones call into ordained ministry. Didn't agree with the author's view on the ordination of women as pastors but that didn't detract from the overall helpfulness of this book! Definitely a good read for those considering the ordained ministry.
