As she bent a metal spoon with her mind, computer scientist Maureen Caudill knew she was witnessing a total violation of the laws of physics--and that her understanding of reality would never be the same. Letting go of the ultra-rational, skeptical perspective she had maintained over a twenty-year scientific career, Caudill joined the 50% of Americans who report having had psychic experiences (National Science Foundation, 2000) and began a firsthand exploration of phenomena like clairvoyance, remote viewing, out of body experiences, channeling, and mediumship. In Suddenly Psychic, she shares her new conviction that paranormal abilities are a normal part of human consciousness and anyone can learn them, using her scientific background to validate and explain her experiences. Combining vivid descriptions of altered states of consciousness with an in-depth look at cutting-edge scientific theories that are consistent with these phenomena, Suddenly Psychic is a reader-friendly bridge between the mysteries of the mind and hard science that speaks to skeptics and believers alike. Caudill's compelling journey offers convincing evidence for the legitimacy of psychic phenomena--and will inspire you to see for yourself what's possible!
Maureen Caudill spent more than twenty years as a computer scientist, fifteen of those as a researcher in artificial intelligence and neural networks. She was a program manager and Artificial Intelligence researcher working on such advanced projects as DARPA (“High Performance Knowledge Base” program) and ARDA (“Advanced Question Answering for Intelligence” program).
I was a bit disappointed with this one. The title is somewhat misleading. It really is sudden, she finds out her psychic abilities the very first day. Not much of a journey though. No process, no challenges, just discovery and amazement about what she experiences.
I've had some of the same experiences (in a general sense) that Maureen has had, and so it's especially interesting to read her accounts of ineffable things that are difficult for anyone to express in tangible, concrete form. She describes her own unique experiences, including many at the Monroe Institute, which parallel some of my own. She tells her tale in a likable, crisp way that makes it both appealing and for the most part, easy to follow, which is no small achievement. One of the better such books I have read.
Caudill is a scientist. Other works by her include Naturally Intelligent Systems and In Our Own Image.
In Suddenly Psychic, she tells how she went from extreme skepticism to grudging acknowledgment to amazed and wondering experience of Out of Body states and the magic that is all around us.
An adventure of a skeptic that turned into psychic thanks to Hemi-Sync technology. Definitely a book worth reading, Caudill is describing her journey at Monroe Institute, but beside her own experiences, she also provides readers with more scientific explanations that stand behind psychic phenomena.
It's a psychic story written by skeptic - do I need to say more?
Muy interezante libro, no pude despegarme de su lectura desde que inicié hasta que lo terminé. pienso que es lo mejor que he leído hasta ahora en cuanto al tema.
