But when a bonfire on the beach gets out of control, Charlie's group blames it on the other twin. Both Sammie and Charlie know he isn’t the boy to blame, but will they have the courage to come forward to tell the truth and double-cross the popular kids?

I loved this book because it was very interesting. At first I didn't think it was that interesting because nothing that exciting happened. I did enjoy it though, but it just seemed very similar to the first book. I thought it was really interesting when the fire started. I at first I thought that it just randomly started because the author wanted to make it a little more exciting, but then I realized it was a huge part of the story. If you liked the other books in the series you would probably enjoy this book as well. I really like how in the series the point of view changes between Charlie and Sammie for each book. This book would be good for upper elementary students, as well as lower middle school. If you are planning to read this book I would recommend reading the first two books in the series before this one.

Thoughts: I've read and reread this book so many times that I've memorized lines from this book (the whole series is the same way, actually). Not because it's a writing masterpiece or anything like that, but because it's a relatable, nicely done book with amazing character voice and great messages. It's really a no-brainer for any 11-14 year old girl, in my opinion. It's humorous, relatable (as I've mentioned), has perfect characters (although Oliver has only added dimensions and depth to few of them), and has very realistic situations that anyone can relate to (I think I've said that already). Oh, and did I mention that it's relatable? Just kidding.
Lin Oliver writes with such a good voice that it's hard to believe she's not actively a child herself, like with Sarah Mlynowski with her "Whatever After" series. I enjoy every minute of this book - it's a light, fairly simple and short read that's perfect for whenever you're in a bit of a reading slump. It's a pretty quick read, both because, like I've said, it's short and it is fast-paced. There's never a slow-point in the story. I love all the characters, too, and have enjoyed seeing them evolve over the series. This particular book I like because it really shows true friendship and kindness, as well as messages of not falling under peer pressure, a major theme highlighted throughout this series. Like I've said, it's a great, easily re-readable book for any 11-14 year old girl. I've recommended it to quite a few of my friends, and they've all adored it just as much as I have.
Overall, a light, fast-paced read that I will never tire of rereading.

Almost Identical
Double Crossed
By Lin Oliver

Review By Sofia Carlberg

Double Crossed is a story about twin sisters named Sammie and Charlie. Both are teenagers who live in California and enjoy playing tennis. In addition to Sammie and Charlie, the main characters are Rick (their father), Ryan (their brother) and GoGo (their grandmother). One Summer, Sammie’s best friend Alicia brings her twin cousins, Oscar and Eddie from El Salvador to Sammie’s house in California. However, there are immediate problems because Charlie doesn't want them around her group. Charlie doesn’t like the fact that Oscar is handicapped. Will someone in Charlie’s group accuse Oscar or Eddie of something they didn’t do? … Possibly... You must read the book to find out!

I rate this book 4 stars out of 5. I really liked the way the author portrayed Sammie as a leader. I believe that readers will particularly enjoy this book because of the relationship between the characters in the story. The story was suspenseful and forced me to keep reading.

I encouraged you to read Almost Identical Double Crossed!

I read the previous books in this series. "Double Crossed" is the third novel. I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a relatively easy read and funny. It is about identical twins who have two very different personalities. Charlie is thee twin who thinks she is fat and dumb and she is kind of...insecure. Sammie on the otherhand is super popular, beautiful, athletic, and smart. She is very well rounded. Often these tow teenagers get into fights but they always make up, because they are sisters after all. I highly recommend this book, most likely to girls, but boys can read it too. It is a great, funny, amazing novel.
