Sequel to Chemistry.

After being kicked out of his father's home for having an affair with his own stepbrother, losing his first love, barely surviving an assault by an abusive ex, becoming an addict, and ending up in rehab just a few months after his eighteenth birthday, Garen is pretty confident that his life can only get easier from here. Surprise, surprise -- he's wrong about that, too.

Hello! My name is Kate Hellman, but in my wayward youth, I was more commonly known online by my penname, myheartisinohio. I write transgressive fiction, queer erotica, and some things that happen to fall into both of those categories. My work is published only on my website, which is linked to above. I am currently a college student, majoring in English Literature at a university in Boston, Massachusetts.
As a note: I began writing my first novel in 2005, when I was fourteen years old. It is therefore... well, delightfully awful, one might say. Chemistry is full of cliches and overdramatic teenage romance, and I promise you all, I am very much aware of this. The story is currently being heavily revised--as in, I'm entirely rewriting it, with an additional decade of writing experience under my belt. For those of you who enjoyed the original story but found yourselves feeling a bit disappointed by the execution, I am very hopeful that one day you might be able to read a much better version of the story.

I'm marking this book as read, though it's a work in progress. I want more people reading this. It's the sequel to Chemistry, so you'll want to read that first. But this book is so damn good, I can't even begin to express it. Myheartisinohio writes dialogue that is hilarious and disturbing and some of the situations that these kids get into is so out there, yet rough and honest and heart-wrenching. Basically, it's the story of what happens after Travis and Garen break up due to Garen's crazy downward spiral and the repercussions and the, hopefully, journey to find each other again. I cannot recommend this book enough, but it's not for everyone. It's straight up messed up. But in a good way. And I check my iphone every Wednesday morning for a new installment because I'm a full-on addict at this point.
