Not a bad introduction to boat mechanical systems, but for serious engineering there are references specific to each system would be a lot more reliable to look at. Manufacture's specs or manuals would better if you just have a boat and have to something to it. It has some simple equations (mostly just multiplying things by a constant) for calculating a few things, which might be okay for a real quick estimate. There was also a mistake in one of examples where he was adding up percentages, which bugs me.
