Federal Marshal Tyler Alpine has wrapped up the case he was working on in Brac Village and is ready to head out when he spots a gorgeous man in need of help. When Tyler decides he can’t pass up a good-looking man with car trouble, he soon finds out that the stunning man is his mate.

But when trouble lands on Thomas’s doorstep, he must rely on Tyler’s quick wit and skills to save him from a date gone horribly wrong.

This was a short quick read that was "Brac pack" series book 29.5. Thomas is a counselor at the rec center that Drew and Taylor work at. Thomas life is boring he went out on a date with Reginald who is a lawyer who only thinks about himself. We met Tyler who is a Federal Marshall in book 27 he was the next door neighbor that Seth thought was creepy. While leaving town he spots a guy needing help when he sees him he knows that Thomas is his mate. This was a pretty good read it was also a fast read that I wished was longer. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This would have been such a nice little story if it hadn’t veered into wildly stupid after about half.

It’s the essence of all those insta-love/insta-lust stories, boiled down. Uncomplicated. The basic fantasy of an ordinary person being gifted with the perfect lover who adores them.

Sadly, it is also silly with that mini plot. The romance would have been enough for such a small story, but no, they had to throw a stereotypical thrill in.

Also irritating that it skips ahead at a crucial moment, letting the resolution to Thomas’ doubts happen off-screen.

Well, maybe those irritants are part of said essence. After all, I encounter them a lot.

Either way, I’m mildly disappointed.

Would have liked more for Thomas's story since he's been there since bk 2. Nice that is was free.
Amazing that Thomas never noticed that all from the "den" never aged! in what must be about close to 20 years have pasted (I think) the timeline that is within this series and the timeline when mixed with other series is really confusing. First it goes couple months then jumps Years later then who knows.

3.5 stars. I actually wrote Lynn Hagen and asked about Thomas a while back. I'm happy he gets his HEA and is now 'in' on the shifter secret. I have been wondering about who he would end up with since book 2 of Brac Pack. He actually ends up with Tyler (the special agent) who caught Leonard Nimble in Seth and Chance's story. Yayyyy.

A bit disappointed though because I wanted Thomas to have a FULL story.

Hmm, i wanted a quickie between books and thats what i got with this story. It was only about 50 s'thing pages, glad it was only a buck on B&N. When i first started reading MM, i devoured these shifter series books and thought they were amazing, but as a more experienced reader, its actually almost painful to read these now. And whats worse, this one actually started off interestingly, but quickly went downhill. It may be a short book but if the author focused on giving us more story instead of sex then we might enjoy these more. Then again, if she's on book 29 and counting, she must be doing something right and it could just be me nitpicking.

Either way, i would rate this a two, but just for old times sake, i will rate it a shaky three. It is what it is, short and almost sweet.

On a side note, i hate it when authors use two MCs whose name both start with the same letter. We have Thomas and Tyler in this story and since it isnt long enough for us to get to know the characters very well, i kept saying, 'now which one is Thomas again?' 'Which one is the shifter?'. It would be uberhelpful to have a little less alleration or whatever the authors reason is for doing that to us! Thanks in advance!

Well, I delved into the Bracverse a 2nd time and now there are 121 books - yikes! I loved this Universe the first time I read it several years ago and now I love it more, I really do, but I've only been able to read these series (and I have expanded to all the books that are currently out in each):
Brac Pack
Christian's Coven
Zeus's Pack
Demon Warriors
The Exiled

These are the series that start the Universe. Reading them in order is a must. Each book has it's own love story but there is an underlying story that plays out throughout them all. As you get towards the end of these series, other series come into play and I noticed that, since I did not read them, I missed some of the characters being mentioned (good and bad) but I was still able to follow because the main ones stay the same.

One day I WILL buy these and read them all!!! (For the correct order, just look on the Internet for Lynn Hagen Reading Order):
Brac Village
Shadow Tribe
BPNG (Brac Pack Next Generation - Brac Pack kids)
The Remus Brothers
Wolves of Desire

I'm aware that this is a short story but the plot was extremely bad. If only the author thought to make it like Thomas and Reginald were seeing each other for a while and then shit hit the fan, it would've been sooooo much better. Reginald is a rich, powerful attorney who must've been winning cases for him to be that way, regardless of his background, as unstable as he was presented in this book I find it hard to believe he held on to his job.

Unfortunately this book didn't work for me. The writing seemed stilted and just didn't flow. This could have been avoided with simple editing. For example the MCs name was used 4-5 times in a 2-3 sentence paragraph. This happened repeatedly. The crisis of the story was contrived and felt like it was added just because one needs a little action not because it completed the story.
This was my first Lynn Hagen read. Although I don't recommend this book and won't reread it, I would like to read another of her books to see if this was just a one off as I can't see an author getting a 30 book series if this is how she writes.

Expanded version Review:
There was basically an extra chapter added on.. that's it. And none of it was worthwhile in my opinion over the free app.

I knew this was a strong possibility but hoped to be proven wrong.. Waste of time if you've read the free one already.

I doubt Everyday Love and Surprising a Perfect Mate expanded versions are any different.

The biggest downer is that this wasn't longer. You don't get a good feel for the characters in this short a book. Thomas got over all his reservations quickly, but it was his mate. Also the bad guy thing was a bit of a joke. Still I have enjoyed the characters and series and this is a nice little add to the storyline.

The one story I liked above all and it had to be a short story. This about two grown men who acted like adults. No pouts, no swooning, no dramatic fits or feet stomping. Would have loved for this one to have been full length.

This was an adorable short set in the Brac universe. I have been hoping Thomas would end up in on the action somehow and in this story he does and in a big way. It's a quick read but it's fluffy and sweet and has just the right amount of heat.

Short, nothing new but easy to read and had all the obligatory things like insta-lust, mine and a bit of drama. A fun bit of fluff reading.
